Parashas Nitzavim

Our Parsha this Shabbos is Parashas Nitzavim just before Rosh HaShanah.Rosh HaShanah is the day that HaShem Created Adam and Adam stood before HaShem.The word 'Nitzavim,' means 'Standing,' and the first verse in our Parsha says,"Atem Nitzavim Kulchem Hayom Lifnei HaShem Elokeichem," - "You are standing today all of you before HaShem your G-D."
Though the word 'today,' refers to that day when Moshe was talking to the people,the very fact that HaShem addresses 'kulchem,' all of us shows that even today and always,we are always standing before HaShem our G-D and that we should ,all together ,stand together serving HaShem in unity .Wherever we are,day or night,with family and friends or alone,inside our homes or out in nature,we are always standing before HaShem.HaShem is always with us.For us to be standing before HaShem,means also that HaShem is 'before us' not far away,but always close to us and wherever we go,we are always in His Holy Presence.This means that at all times,we need to conduct ourselves in a Holy ,moral and pure way.We cannot think that we can do what ever we want that is wrong,thinking that we are alone and no one will see. HaShem , Who is always in front of us,sees all.Every action we do,every word we say and even every thought we have,HaShem sees and hears. As we are 'Nitzavim,' - 'Standing,' before HaShem on Rosh HaShanah,when HaShem judges the world,we must remember that it is before HaShem we stand and that every time we didn't stand upright in our ways,with HaShem and with others,HaShem Took note.Every day we are to be moral and Holy.Not just on Rosh Hashanah.Every day to us should be a day that we stand morally before HaShem as if every day,HaShem is Creating the World anew,for our sages say that HaShem Creates the World anew every morning.Let us deserve this World and all the goodness HaShem wants to offer us,through this World and thank HaShem in acknowledgement,for it is from HaShem that this World and it's goodness comes.
Within the word 'Nitzavim,' are some of the root letters of the word 'Netzach,' which means 'Eternity,' and 'Infinity,' so if we stand righteously before HaShem ''HaYom,' - 'Today,' and every day is today,then every day HaShem will let us continue 'standing before Him,' for eternity and infinity. Here HaShem tells us the secret of 'long life' and 'many days.'The secret is to be righteous before G-D and be able to stand before G-D as a Holy being,fulfilling G-D's Will.Then G-D will grant us more days.
HaShem made this World as a response to all we do.The Earth itself gives off the lessons we need.The Earth itself stands with Heaven as a witness to our actions and so,can be a reward too if we follow HaShem wholeheartedly.HaShem told us He Will bring Heaven and Earth as a witness to us and so,how the Earth treats us,is dependent on how we treat HaShem and all that is upon this Earth.If we are Holy to HaShem according to HaShem's Wishes and not just our own then HaShem will Bless us.If we are good and righteous and moral to those around us,then this World will give of its bounty and so will Heaven.But if we disobey G-D ,Chas Ve Shalom or act immorally to those around us,Heaven and Earth will be our Witness against us.Heaven and Earth was there in Creation before Adam Ve Chava and when they were Created on Rosh HaShanah,they were offered of Heaven and Earth's bounty.But when they disobeyed HaShem,they could no longer 'Stand,' before HaShem and so they hid themselves.
'Nitzavim,' ' Standing,' before HaShem also depends on us ,for if we know we have done something wrong,we feel ashamed.This is the time to make amends,to gain forgiveness and beg Mechillah for the wrongs we have done so that we can be 'Nitzavim,' - 'Standing,' before HaShem with righteousness.That which we did to HaShem,we need to fix with HaShem.That which we did to our fellow people,needs to be fixed with those people.
Let us all make this a very special Shabbos and Rosh HaShanah where we make amends and are able to stand before HaShem ,from now on,every day as if every day was Rosh HaShanah,'and be the people G-D wants us to be ,following only G-D.
