Our Parsha this Shabbos is 'Ki Teitzei.'
The first law that is discussed is to do with the 'Y'fat To'ar,' a woman whom a soldier desires that is not of the Jewish Covenant and the Law tells of what he is to do if he wishes to marry her.
The Parsha starts out with the words 'Ki Teitzei,' and this means 'When you will go out.' Go out from what? Is this just referring to going out to war or is something deeper hinted at here. The Torah is very deep and so are HaShem's Commandments. The verse that starts out with the words ,'Ki Teitzei,' also refers to going out from HaShem and His Will.
So when a soldier desires that which is forbidden,it is literally going away from HaShem. HaShem Commands that the Jewish person is to marry one of the Covenant who will lead them into keeping more of HaShem's Laws.Foreign ways lead a person away from HaShem and it is as if they are going 'Out from HaShem.'
Even though HaShem, makes a leniency to make a way to legitimize this marriage to give each person's motives a chance, for HaShem knows the physicality of a human,HaShem desires that a Jewish person does not stray away from the Covenant. If they do Chas Ve Shalom, they can be led to the ways of foreign beliefs or many other problems that come with going out of (Chas Ve Shalom) HaShem's Commands.I do not speak of a genuine Ger who desires to be Jewish, for this is Blessed by HaShem, but I speak of a person who comes to Yiddishkeit for physical outside reasons.
The word 'Yefat To'ar' which means a 'Women who is beautiful of form,' shows that the soldier desired her for physical reasons and not Holy spiritual reasons. The fact that she is described as 'beautiful of form,' shows that it is just the physicality that attracts and nothing within. How sad that our modern day world has become this way with everything.People tend to just look at and judge the physical and thus miss the beauty of spirituality that is below the surface of people. This world has become a very plastic world with little substance and this is our own fault for we are all guilty of being caught by sweet looking things.By not looking below,we miss HaShem's soul within. That is the most important of all.
The word 'To'ar' is usually spelt with a 'Vav' as an 'O' sound but here, the Torah left it out of the word possibly to indicate the physicality of the choice and desire of the soldier for a woman who is just physically appealing,as the letter 'Vav' is 6 in Gematriah and '6' representing the physical, just misses the number '7' which is spirituality like Moshiach, whose word in Hebrew comes to 7 Gematrically.
The word 'To'ar,' has its root in the word 'T'eira,' which means 'description,' showing that it is the soldier's own personal description of the woman and not what really is.
What is the result of a 'Yefat To'ar?' Our Rabbis tell us that the way Torah is put together in its order ,has a reason. The sections that follow the marriage of a 'Yefat To'ar,' are first the section of machlokes between the children of two wives and then 'the rebellious son,' to show that of such a marriage of physicality,a son of machlokes and rebellion will come.History proved this by Avshalom, who was the son of David and Ma'acha (who was herself a Yefat To'ar), for Avshalom rebelled against David as we know and David almost lost his kingship to Avshalom, who (Avshalom) prided himself by his looks and thus never wanted to cut his hair. This bacame Avshalom's downfall, for it was by his hair that he got caught when running away from Yoav,David's General.Physicality is not what counts. The heart and soul is what is to be looked at.
Whenever a person 'Ki Teitzeh' goes out from HaShem's Ways and follows their own wants and needs, trouble comes.
HaShem gave us a beautiful Torah as Guidelines to how we are to act. Each part of our lives can draw us to Holiness - to HaShem , if we would only choose each path we take with the wisdom of the Torah that HaShem gave us to live.Following the Torah leads to HaShem. Not following HaShem's Torah leads away from Holiness Chas Ve Shalom .
No matter how far a person may stray,HaShem is just a sweet call away and returning to HaShem is a choice one needs to make,to live.
Each moment offers us choices. In each moment, that choice can bring us sweet blessings within the positive choosing of that choice as our Kabbalah says. But to get that blessing is up to us.Each time we choose HaShem and His Will,we choose the beautiful sweet Blessing that comes with that choice. Not that this should be the reason to choose the right path, but HaShem does reward the righteous. We should always choose HaShem's path, because we love Him.
The true beauty of form,is within and is HaShem ,for HaShem is within all things if we would only follow Him and look close enough.
Loving HaShem is easy. The true show of love is following His Torah and all He asks of us with love. That is the true way and path of love of HaShem.
We are not in Gan Eiden anymore and anywhere we go,we 'Ki Teitzeh' Go out from the closeness we once had in Gan Eiden. What we need to learn is that when we do go out into this physical World,we must always take HaShem with us for each of us are to put His light into all parts of this physical existence and show the true Beauty of the Essence of HaShem's Light and Love.
With love to HaShem I wish You HaShem a beautiful Shabbos Kodesh with love and to all, a beautiful Shabbos Kodesh with love.
