Parashas Shemos

Our Parsha this week is Parashas Shemos, which starts out the Second Book of the Torah.
In this Parsha, the last of Yaakov's sons, passes away and only then does the slavery for our people start. This Parsha starts out with a 'Ve,' - 'And' showing how it continues from the previous Parsha.
Yosef, in his wisdom saw to it that our people stayed in Goshen, to make sure we would steer clear of foreign ways that made up Egyptian Society, but our Parsha tells us,how the 'Vatimalei Ha'aretz Otam,'-'How the land became filled with them' (with us) , thus , not all our people stayed in Goshen but some mixed with Egyptian society in other parts of the land, and that's when the problem started .
This is the same as happened in the Story of Purim, where again, some of our people mixed with the Persians. Each time, we as a people have mixed with others and lessened and forgot our Laws, we have run into trouble. This is what happened in Egypt.
Torah Tells us that a new king arose in Egypt, one that did not know Yosef, thus one, that chose to purposefully forget that it was from HaShem Who helped through a member of our Jewish people 'Yosef' that had helped the new king and the Egyptians live through the famine. How often has this happened to us.
So he suggested a way to rid himself of us, by knowing how quick we Jews would be prepared to volunteer for a project of kindness,to help Egypt and so we were first asked to volunteer for this building project with the Egyptians.Day by day, more and more of the Egyptian Workers would dwindle, till eventually, it was only Jews left.Pharaoh, thus did this in a very sly slow manner so as to trick us.Thus HaShem, let the Egyptians suffer slowly through Ten Plagues, each plague, allied to a specific hardship the Egyptians had put on us.
Suddenly, the Jews found themselves in harsh slavery.
Pharaoh's advisers told Pharaoh that they had seen in the stars that a redeemer would come to the Jews and that he would be destroyed by water, and so did Pharaoh command that all Jewish boys be cast into the river. The Pharaoh's advisers had seen it would be water that would affect our redeemer, but they did not see the whole picture, for at a much later stage, it was to do with Water that hurt Moshe , when he struck the Rock unlike what HaShem Said he should do.
It was for this very reason that Yocheved and Amram,Moshe, Aharon and Miriam's parents hid Moshe Avigdor in the River, so that Pharaoh's advisers would see in the stars that this redeemer had been put into the Nile and would incorrectly assume, the redeemer had been taken care of. The two midwives, who were actually Miriam and her Mother Yocheved ,did not listen to the Pharaoh's decree , and saved many Jewish children.
We can thank HaShem and also little Miriam that Moshe got born, as when Amram heard of Pharaoh's decree to kill the Jewish children,he divorced his wife, thinking what point is there in bringing up a child who will be faced with Pharaoh's decree, but prophetic Miriam persuaded her Father otherwise, and so little Avigdor (Moshe) was born.
In the basket , where he was placed , on the river,it was Batya, who noticed him and drew him out of the water, and thus was he named 'Moshe,' - which means to 'To Draw Out.' Batya was there that day, at the river converting to Yiddishkeit and so was she named Batya , ( with its meaning daughter or G-D for she had chosen to follow G-D ) .Miraculously, she let Moshe be first raised by his true Mother and only later was Moshe brought back to Batya.
One day as a child, Moshe decided to sit on Pharaoh's throne and put on his crown.Pharaoh's advisers felt the child needed to be tested, fearing this as a future prophecy, and so they tested him to see if he would choose a shiny gem or a piece of coal. The three advisers here were Bilaam (who wanted to kill Moshe) ,who said the boy should be tested, Yisro (who was to become Moshe's  Father - in - Law) , who said the boy should be let go, and Iyov (Job) who didn't choose either way.It was for this reason that Iyov ended up getting tested in the book of Iyov,as he could have saved the boy but didn't choose to tell Pharaoh to let the boy go.
Moshe's hand went toward the shiny gem, but to save his life, the Angel Gavriel, pushed his hand away toward the coal, which Moshe put in his mouth and thus caused him to have a speech impediment.
Moshe grew up and went out to his brothers and saw their hardship and one day saw an Egyptian beating a Jew Dasan as the Egyptian had gone for Dasan's wife, and Moshe saved Dasan.
The next day, Moshe went out again and saw Dasan arguing with Aviram, Dasan's wife's brother, as Dasan wanted to divorce his wife and was about to fight with Aviram, and so again, Moshe intervened and they spoke to Moshe, of what he had done to the Egyptian the day before.
Moshe realized the matter was known and managed to escape Egypt.
Moshe first went to the land of the Cushites ,where he became king there and spent forty years involved with their issues, knowing that Yanus and Yambrus, the evil Bilaam's two sons had fled there.
It was only after this, that Moshe came to the well, where he met Tzipporah and saved Yisro's daughters from the shepherds.
Yisro's daughters had remained unmarried, as Yisro, had given up the idol following religion of the Midianites among whom he dwelt and so the men there did not want his daughters.
Moshe married Tzipporah and had two sons.
Moshe was one day shepherding near Mount Sinai and HaShem Called to him in the voice of Moshe's Father Amram (thus Moshe realized his Father must be with HaShem).
For a full seven days, HaShem Spoke to Moshe, at this holy site, near the burning bush, a representation, of our Jewish people, that no matter how many of our enemies may try to hurt us, we will live on by HaShem, Who Will Save us through time.HaShem Knew this sign would attract Moshe, who had compared the suffering and pains of his people to a bush , he had once dreamed of, wondering if we as a people would be 'hurt' (burned), for even at an early age, Moshe had spoken to HaShem and so, HaShem Answered Moshe, that his people ,like the bush, will live on.
Humble Moshe tried all seven days , to make out he wasn't worthy, and it was his humility, that proved he was worthy and the one most deserving of being chosen, who cares for every Jew lost spiritually ,who turns away from HaShem ' Laws, for once when Moshe was younger, one of his sheep had run off, and Moshe would not let a single sheep go astray, so he had gone after it very far and when he caught up to it, he put it on his shoulders and carefully and gently carried it home.
HaShem Told Moshe , he was to go to Egypt , and that a new Pharaoh was now ruler.
Moshe got acceptance to leave for Egypt from Yisro , for Moshe had agreed with Yisro when Moshe had married Yisro's daughter,to not leave for Egypt , and so Moshe got on a donkey to ride to Egypt. On the way, Tzipporah saves his life, by ensuring that a Bris is performed on her son.
Moshe comes to Egypt with his brother Aharon , whom HaShem had sent to meet him and here, meets again with his sister Miriam.
Moshe speaks the words of the Redeemer,' Pakod Pakadti,' and these words corroborate to our people that this is the true redeemer.
Moshe and Aharon start to make their way to Pharaoh with the elders, but the nearer they came the more frightened the elders become , till only Moshe and Aharon are left as the only ones to approach Pharaoh.
Pharaoh is asked to let us go on a three day journey , and is not told straight away about letting us go completely, as a punishment for how the Pharaoh had gotten us to at first volunteer for the working project , before it turned into slavery. This was what Moshe was instructed to tell at first.
But Pharaoh got more harsh and hardened his heart and insisted that the Jews go search out straw for themselves to make bricks.
Moshe cries out to HaShem after seeing the anguish of our people and this is where this Parsha ends.
The Pasha is called ' Shemos,' which means ' Names,' for no matter how the Egyptian society tried to encroach on our belief, The Jewish people kept to our Jewish Names.
And here is the lesson for all time for ensuring our safety. As soon as one starts to stray from Jewish roots and lets oneself be enticed to lessen , Chas Ve Shalom , on our Yiddishkeit, and starts following other ways that are not Jewish, so are those Jews put in the dangerous position of losing Holy Yiddishkeit. HaShem always protects us and wants us to stay Jewish and be a Light unto the Nations , to teach the nations about HaShem , The One And Only True Creator. This is our task as Jews to the nations. A Jew must always keep Jewishness and Torah as it is the pathway to HaShem and our survival.
The. 'Shemos' - 'Name ,'
Moshe was given , that means, 'To Draw Out,' also refers to this concept, for it was Moshe , who was to 'Draw Us Out,' from that which is negative and unholy in Egyptian society , and bring us back to HaShem.
This World is filled with physical temptations that are so meaningless. The only Truth is HaShem .The only truth is His Torah .Moshe , who could have grown up in Egyptian high physical society, chose rather to throw that all away, to 'Go Out To His Jewish Brethren,' caring for each and every Jew, and doing humbly and only what HaShem Wants. He chose not, the physicality, and put himself totally in the faith and love of HaShem. That is the Only way to live . That is the only pathway for a soul. The physicality must only be used to change it to holiness, for the only true pathway is to HaShem.
It starts with our Jewish Names and keeping our Jewishness.
May we as Jews never turn away from HaShem and love Him enough to keep our Jewishness and HaShem's Precious Gift to us of His Torah Laws.
For our Jewish Names, are a sweet show of faith and love and obedience, in the most Holy 'Shemos,' .- ' Name ' of all, and that is the Name of HaShem .
With Love to HaShem , I wish HaShem with love , a Beautiful Sweet Shabbos Kodesh with love and to all , a beautiful sweet Shabbos Kodesh with love.
