Parashas Bo

Our Parsha this Shabbos is Parashas Bo.
The Eighth Plague hits Egypt with immense power. This Plague is the Plague of Arbeh - the Locust Swarm . Within the word 'Arbeh' is the word 'Arav' which means 'lie in wait / ambush .' These special locusts lay in wait since Creation,to ambush Egypt, for this specific event , to fulfill their purpose in Creation. These were no ordinary locusts. These locusts had never been seen before , for they had fangs and claws and slicing wings and a never ending appetite, the likes of which , had never been witnessed .They attacked Egypt's crops with a fury. The Plague before this one, which was the hail, had only destroyed the crops above the ground that had sprouted. Now these locusts attacked the remainder, that was still growing, completely decimating the land. The Egyptians first looked up and saw the sky darken, wondering to each other if this was an eclipse.Only as it got nearer did they notice this was a locust swarm . This Plague was due to the lack of appreciation that the Egyptians no longer displayed for Joseph and our people and the crops he had stored for them in the time of abundance , for the years of famine. Also, Egypt had certain territory disputes with nations around it, and this settled what belonged to Egypt, for the locust swarm only attacked Egyptian territory.
When the Plague was over, not a single locust remained in Egypt, which included the usual species they would cook and eat.
The Ninth Plague was that of Choshech - Darkness. This Plague , again part of the set of threes, where on each third Plague, no warning was given to Pharaoh before the Plague started. This was a darkness that was tangible, in other words , it was physically felt like a hard weighted barrier that could not be gone through. If an Egyptian was sitting , he would not be able to get up, for the Darkness was a physical weight on him preventing him from moving. If the Egyptian was standing at the time this plague hit, he would be stuck where he stood, for he felt a physical barrier of Darkness all around him that he was unable to penetrate.
This Plague was due to a pastime the Egyptians inflicted on us, for they would make us stand for long hours , and we would not be able to move from our place ,or we would be whipped and beaten. We had to stand long hours not moving, while the Egyptians wined and dined. Now, the Egyptians learned how that felt.
During this Plague, the Egyptians were given a glimpse of us coming into their homes to see where they hid their valuables, so we could take our wage for the long years of bondage served without pay, as there was nothing they could do to stop us. But we never took a single item at that time , but requested when we left , these things for our wages, and the Egyptians could not say there were no valuables, for we were permitted into their homes during this Plague, to check where they were hidden.
Our honesty did impress the Egyptians, and our Sages say we gained their respect at our honesty in not taking a single thing from the Egyptians at this time, but waited till the time came to ask of them our wage.
The last Plague at the Midnight of this Plague, became the Night of Passover for eternity, for that first Seder took place on the Night of the Tenth Plague, 'The Slaying of the Firstborn of Egypt -'U'meit Kol Bechor Be' Eretz Mitzrayim ' - ' The Slaying of the Firstborn of Egypt.' Before this Plague, the Jews were commanded to put a sign on the two doorposts and lintel of their doors so HaShem will Passover their Houses. This Plague was an attack on the action of the Egyptians when they killed our first born.HaShem gave instructions for the Pesach and also for Rosh Chodesh.
The first Matzah the Jews had, was such a treasure, to us,that when we left Egypt, our things we put on our donkeys, but the Matzah we wrapped up and kept it close to our heart as we see in Shemos Exodus 12:34.
HaShem descended and killed the first born of Egypt. The first Pesach Night remains etched on our Jewish souls for all time, at how we did the first Seder, while outside the outcry of Egypt raised up high.
At the end of this Plague, after Pharaoh lost his own son at midnight,He called out in a voice that HaShem carried throughout Goshen, telling the Children of Israel to 'Rise up, go out from among my people, even you , even the Children of Israel; go and serve HaShem as you have spoken.Take even your sheep and even your cattle,as you have spoken and go - and bless me as well.'
Egypt pushed our people to leave .
When the time came for our release, it came quickly like a flood, though we waited long. The same will be with Mashiach, though we wait long, when the time is right, it will come like a flood.
HaShem Instructs on the importance of sanctifying the firstborn and the Parsha ends, with HaShem's Commandment of Tefillin and remembering the Exodus.
Our Parsha is called Parashas Bo. The word 'Bo' means 'Come' where HaShem Tells Moshe 'Bo el Par'o,' - ' Come to Pharaoh .'
Usually , a command would be 'Go to,' so why in this case is the word 'Come to' mentioned. The difference between 'going' and 'coming' is that 'Going' is more forceful than 'Coming.'HaShem told Moshe to appeal to Par'o with Moshe's usual humility and also that Moshe should still respect Pharaoh as a king in that position at the time.
Also,Moshe needed to appeal to Pharaoh from the point of view of the True Truth of HaShem as if to say that Pharaoh should 'Bo' - 'Come' with Moshe's point of view and follow HaShem humbly. This was Pharaoh's failing, his arrogance. He could not humble himself and so,his own arrogance became Egypt's downfall.Pharaoh could not see the fault was with himself.
We see this when he told Moshe and Aharon ,' Ki Ra'ah Neged P'neichem ' - ' the evil intent is opposite your faces .' Who was opposite their faces? He was.Pharaoh was opposite their faces.Pharaoh was the one who was acting evil, but he could never admit it even though deep down , there was a small part of him that knew he was doing wrong, yet his own ego would not allow him to admit it.So he saw evil in others, looking through his own personal view.
There is a lesson in this for us all to learn that we are all guilty of at some time or another. We tend to look at others through our own opinion and our own personal view .The fault we see in others may very well be the fault we ourselves possess.Because we find it easier to see faults in others that we don't like to see in ourselves,we blame others for it.
We need to learn to stop looking at the World through our own personal experience, for that is not the True Truth but our own truth. We are all different and we all do things for different reasons and that is why HaShem is the True Judge. For only He can See all.We need to learn to emulate HaShem in the was we see others, and to stop looking at others through our own limited points of view and life's experiences.
And this was we can 'Bo' - ' Come ' to HaShem , through His Torah .
Here we have another reason , why HaShem told Moshe to 'Bo' 'Come ' to Pharaoh, for in reality, HaShem Wanted Pharaoh to 'Bo' - 'Come ' to HaShem , and see the true Truth of Creation , HaShem Made all.
I wish HaShem with Love a Blessed Shabbos Kodesh with love and to all , a Blessed Shabbos Kodesh with love.
