Our Parsha this week is 'Beha'alotcha,' and refers to 'Kindling' the Menorah by Aharon.HaShem tells Moshe to say to Aharon,that when he kindles the lamps,it will be toward the face of the Menorah.Our physical face is on the outside,but the Menorah's face is toward it's centre-that inner centre that is our Neshoma which is a part of and connected to HaShem.
The last few Parshas I have been building up the idea of coming close to HaShem and rectifying ourselves,taking an accounting of what we need to fix.Once we have done that and purified ourselves,this Parsha teaches us also,that once purified,we can focus on coming close to HaShem,our central flame where HaShem's light rests within us as our soul.The soul is a light from HaShem and it is our soul that reaches from this physical plane,to the higher spiritual plane,reaching for HaShem.It is to this 'face of the Menorah we must face,so we all can cast light to all around us-the light and love of HaShem.This can be done,after all the purifying and correcting of ourselves.
We are to be a vessel for HaShem's light in this world of physicality and so,all the steps leading up to our purification,we must do.
The Menorah was to be of one hammered out piece of gold,as we are all one people,that must serve HaShem in unity and if we do this,our light will shine and go up to HaShem together.All things in this world need to learn to face toward HaShem and follow HaShem only.HaShem is our light source.Wherever we go and whatever we do,needs to be for the purpose of lighting up this world for HaShem,bringing HaShem's light to every corner.
HaShem has hidden sparks of light in this world and when we do a mitzvah in a place,we release that spark of light to travel upwards to our Creator. This world could be filled with light if only we all kindled HaShem's light from us by never turning our back to Him (Chas Ve Shalom),but always following Him and all He asks of us.HaShem is everywhere and though things may appear dark,they really are not for the spark of HaShem is in all things.
We can all enhance faithfulness in people as Aharon kindled the lights toward the centre light,as we are all here,each one of us,to work for HaShem by bringing HaShem's light everywhere.We can all kindle the flames of beauty in people we meet by directing them toward HaShem.In every lace we are and go,look for the reason why and what HaShem might like us to do there as there is reason and purpose in all things,even though we cannot always see it.
Within the word 'Be Ha'Alotcha,' is the word 'Oleh' which means,'to go up,' and this is exactly what we are here to accomplish with every Mitzvah we are given to do so that we can bring our souls up to HaShem's love and so be on a level where HaShem can again dwell among us.
This is a stage that we can reach after we have taken an accounting of ourselves and made ourselves pure and Holy so that we can be a vessel for HaShem.When HaShem says,'Make yourselves a Tabernacle for HaShem that I may dwell,' HaShem refers to the Tabernacle as well as us making ourselves into a Tabernacle where HaShem can dwell within us.
So,let us be a vessel of light from HaShem and light up all things around us with HaShem's Love and Peace.
