Our Parsha this Shabbos is Parashas Emor where HaShem Instructs Moshe to 'Emor' - 'Say' to the Kohanim, the sons of Aharon to remain completely Pure and Holy.
This Parsha intructs the Kohanim how to be and what Laws to follow.
The Kohanim were instructed with HaShem's Holy Work of the Sanctuary and were thus in close physical proximity with HaShem's Holy Shechinah . They thus had to be Holy and Pure at all times .Their work was also the Korbanos and from within the word 'Korbanos,'is the word 'Karov,' which in Hebrew, means 'Close,' for they were spiritually responsible for bringing closeness between HaShem and His People Israel.
HaShem tells us in His Torah that we Jews are to be a Holy People, ' A Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation.' At all times , we are surrounded by HaShem and thus, are we to be at all times Holy and Pure.
The Kohanim were to keep to a strict code of Holiness and Sanctity, as they carried out HaShem's Avodas .
Every part of their lives was to be kept strictly pure, from the women they married to the very physical way they presented themselves to those around them. The Kohein Gadol had even stricter Laws to follow for he had been anointed with HaShem's Holy Oil of Anointment that automatically gave him strength , physical beauty and a spiritual essence of holiness that was needed for his position .
The Kohanim resembled the Malachim - Angels that stand before HaShem and most certainly need to have sweetest purity .
As HaShem instructed the Kohanim to be pure , so must the entire nation of Isael emulate this purity by keeping Holy and thus opening a Pure Path to HaShem .
The word 'Emor' that is the name of this Parsha can also be a future tense word and so , when Moshe was instructed to 'Emor' - ' 'Say ' to the Kohanim what they need to do to be Holy and Pure, this Command was not just for then , but also for future times too , that the Kohanim must know that at all times , whether they serve in The Sanctuary or while we await our Temple to be built in today's times too and into the future at all times, so must the Kohanim always act with the same Sanctity and Laws that HaShem Instructed Moshe to Command them then to do.
It is for each and every Jew to ensure that these Laws get kept by the Kohanim in every generation as HaShem Instructed. Thus those who are leaders of the Jewish Community in every generation , have the obligation to 'Emor' - 'Say' to the Kohanim how they are to keep themselves Pure and Holy ,ensuring that they are given the required deserved respect of the Community , like being first to be called up to the Torah , to be the leader at a Zimun when Bensching, to be given the honor at saying Grace After Meals and even distinguished places at settings.
The Kohanim are to do HaShem's Holy Work and so must be Pure at all times .
The word ' Emor,' in Hebrew has the Gematrical value of 1 + 40 + 200 = '241' and 2 + 4 + 1 = '7' - the number that is the Gematrical value of the Hebrew word 'Mashiach.' Thus , the Holiness and Purity that a Kohain must be is as the Holiness that we must work toward for Mashiach's time to come .Keeping Pure and Modest and Holy , is one of the ways we can bring Mashiach . The very word ' Emor,' suggests 'Speech ,' thus our speech and words must always be Clean and Holy and without Slander . HaShem gave us the ability to ' Emor ,' - ' Say and Speak ,' and , as HaShem Spoke Holy Words and Brought Creation into being, so must we emulate by keeping our words and speech Holy and Pure. It is our speech and words that allows us to rise above the physicality of those parts of Creation that doesn't speak and so , we must use our Words to make the air around us always Holy and Sweet .
As HaShem instructs Moshe on the Holy Sanctity of the Kohanim , so must we instruct our children to keep to HaShem's Laws always and so must we teach all those around us of the Light of HaShem , through the very words we are given to 'Emor,' - 'Say.'
May we all do our part in making this World and Creation, a Holy World , for HaShem so HaShem can Dwell among us and so that HaShem may ' Emor,' - ' Say,' His Words to us in closeness . Let HaShe bring us closer to Him with His Commandments and may we continue to teach His Light and Commandments to our children.
May we all work toward hearing HaShem 'Emor' - ' Say ,' His Precious Words to us that we are able to hear ourselves , for HaShem Continues to Speak but we are not on a level to hear It . May we all work toward making ourselves Holy and Pure and this World a World that welcomes HaShem .
With Love to HaShem , I wish HaShem with Love , a beautiful Shabbos Kodesh with Love and to all my fellow Jews a beautiful Shabbos Kodesh with love .
