Parashas BeHar

Our Parsha this week is Parashas BeHar. The Parsha starts by telling how HaShem spoke to Moshe 'BeHar Sinai,' on 'Mount Sinai' about the Laws of the Shemittah and Yovel years. The Shemittah refers to letting the land of Eretz Yisroel lie fallow without being worked ,on the Seventh Year - The Sabbatical Year - like the Seventh Day Sabbath , so that the land can keep its Sabbath and the Yovel Year every fiftieth Jubilee year. This is such a Holy concept and keeping this Law shows utmost trust and faith in HaShem , to down tools and not work the land trusting in faith that HaShem Will Provide .The keeping of these Laws show HaShem how we trust Him explicitly and believe totally that HaShem Created Creation .Such an obedience of such Laws ,show complete and full gratitude that HaShem Controls all and Makes all .
But why does the Torah mention Har Sinai in connection with the Shemittah Laws , as this portion of Torah is long after Matan Torah , so why does HaShem mention this now that Moshe was told on Har Sinai and that the people appear to be commanded about it now? The reason for this is that when HaShem Spoke on Mount Sinai,His Voice from Mount Sinai continues forever as His voice penetrates all things , having no echo , where nothing can stop or contain it and so , it shows that all Commandments we were given through Moshe , were given at Sinai and HaShem's Voice continues forever from that very day on Mount Sinai through the generations into the future , Commanding us even today , about that which was originally given on Har Sinai . So all Commandments including Shemittah and Yovel and every Commandment and its explanation in our Written and Oral Explanations of Torah are still coming from HaShem at that very time HaShem spoke to us on Har Sinai . Thus all Laws and their Oral explanations and interpretations were given on Har Sinai .
Har Sinai was the most humble of Mountains as Moshe was the most humble of men .Moshe and this mountain are interrelated. Our Midrash tells us that many other mountains came to HaShem requesting that His Holy Torah be given on them , but Har Sinai ,a smaller and more humble Mountain thought itself unworthy . HaShem chose Har Sinai for its humility and respect and awe of HaShem .It was on this Mountain that Moshe stood at the burning bush and it was at the foot of this mountain that Yaakov first met Rachel (as Rabbi Dennis in his book Encyclopedia of Jewish Mysticism points out).
Har Sinai was in the wilderness , where the Children of Israel were , for so many years and it was here in this barren Wilderness that HaShem chose Har Sinai to Give His Precious Torah Gift to His People. Why was the Torah given in a Wilderness? To show us that HaShem can make sweetness flow even in a place that is barren and also , as a Wilderness is owner-less, so does HaShem show that this World is not owned by any person , but HaShem is the Master and Owner of all things and to acquire His Torah , one is to be humble like the Wilderness.
The Words 'Har Sinai,' has within it the Hebrew words ' "Her'eh S'neh ," which translates as 'The Displaying And Showing Of Light Of The Bush," for it was on this Mountain that HaShem Spoke to Moshe through the Humble Bush that burn't with HaShem's Light but did not get consumed," as our Jewish Nation through time is persecuted but will never be consumed and is protected by HaShem's Light , so from this Mountain of Har Sinai , HaShem's Voice of Light forever reaches out to us . This was truly the Mountain chosen for HaShem's Revelation of His Light .
This Light continues till today in every word of Torah spoken and learnt for His Sweet and Precious Voice is within every Letter and Word we learn and follow.
So by following HaShem and His Torah , we keep HaShem's Voice forever within us as It was given then on Har Sinai and as we teach it to our children we bring HaShem's Light into the future.
Let us keep HaShem's Continuing Voice within us and let It out to all that is around us , so that we can remain spiritually at the Foot of Har Sinai ,keeping HaShem's Commandments , as HaShem's Beautiful Voice fills Creation .
With Love to HaShem , I wish HaShem with Love ,a Beautiful and Sweet and Precious Holy Shabbos Kodesh with Love and to all my fellow Yidden , a beautiful and sweet and precious Shabbos Kodesh with love .
