This Shabbos is on the last day of Passover , where we read the Torah Portion in Devarim 15 : 19 - 16 : 17 which speaks of the Yomim Tovim and the Maftir is in Bamidbar Numbers 28 : 19 - 25 teaching of the offering made on Pesach and the Haftorah is in Yeshayahu Isaiah 10 : 32 - 12 : 6 which teaches of the Final redemption and the prophecy of Moshiach's time of Eternal Peace between all living things , where Pesach As HaShem Told Moshe was a redemption but not the Final Redemption for as HaShem Taught in His Name That He Gave Moshe at the Burning Bush and the Name Moshe was to Give Israel , that showed that though this Pesach Redemption was a redemption from Mitzrayim , it was not to be the Last Final Redemption into Olam Habah . This idea of Moshiach and Redemption runs right through the Passover Festival even into the Seder we celebrate and do , with the extra cup of wine poured for Eliyahu Ha Navi the Harbinger of Moshiach as Tanach teaches us , may it come soon in our days . It was on the seventh day of the Passover Festival That HaShem Performed The Miracle of the Splitting of the Yam Suf and this last day of Passover that comes out on Shabbos is connected with this Holy Miracle From HaShem of the The Splitting of the Yam Suf Reed Sea ( Red Sea ) . We arrived at the Yam Suf Reed Sea after coming out of Egypt and as things stood , we could not go further , with the Sea before us and Mitzrayim behind us and wild Animals that HaShem Had Brought on the side . On the third day after leaving Egypt , Pharaoh expected us to return , as he was originally given the idea when the Plagues started , that we would go into the desert to make Korbanos and as he was made to think , return . This was a Middah Knegged Middah punishment for the Egyptians , as they had originally not told us what their building projects would be when they asked us to volunteer and it turned out to become slavery . So now that third day had arrived and Pharaoh saw we were not returning . He had sent spies among us to make sure that we would be persuaded to return and now these spies showed themselves and tried to get us to return but we refused and these spies were beaten . Some spies managed to escape back to Pharaoh , who was told where we were , Which HaShem Had Strategically Made Sure of that we would stop right near an idol of baal ( baal tzefon as mentioned in Torah ) and that we were not returning . Pharaoh assumed that the fake idol was holding us there , For HaShem Had Wanted Pharaoh to be caught in this thought so as to get him to go after us and so , result in his army being drowned . Pharaoh and the remaining Egyptians regretted their decision to set us free and so Pharaoh harnessed 600 of his elite chariots to be pulled by the horses that were not harmed during the hail , for these were the horses that were taken in under cover when the hail fell . Pharaoh and his army caught up with us when we were near the Red Sea , which is actually called the Yam Suf - Reed Sea . The people heard the sound of charioteers coming and were panic-stricken . Dathan and Aviram ( the ones that Moshe had met when he was in Egypt and who had told Moshe , ' who had made Moshe a leader over them , ' where it was the day before that Moshe had saved Dathan's life from being beaten by the Egyptian taskmaster who had come to force himself on Dathan's wife Shelomis and Dathan had come home early to find the Egyptian taskmaster trying to be with Shelomis and Dathan had tried to stop the Egyptian , who then beat him mercifully and it was then that Moshe arrived and saved Dathan and on the following day , Moshe had come and found this same Dathan arguing with his brother - in - law Aviram with regards to Aviram's sister Shelomis , for Dathan wanted to divorce her and Aviram disagreed and Moshe came and found them arguing and so this was the same Dathan and Aviram that now argued with Moshe and Aharon that they should not have left Egypt . HaShem Considered these complaints as a rebellion against Him . Moshe told them to 'stand back and witness the Salvation of HaShem . ' Moshe prayed to HaShem and HaShem Told him to command the Sea to split , but it did not listen to Moshe . The Angel Sar of Egypt Appeared over the Egyptian Army to fight for them and went up to HaShem and begged HaShem to not destroy the Egyptians . The Sea did not want to open so as not to have the low spiritual level Egyptians in it . HaShem Held a Heavenly Tribunal , where the Sar of Egypt Pleaded for Egypt to be let go . The Angel Michael asked the Angel Gavriel to go down to Egypt and bring proof that these Egyptians deserved punishment . The Angel Gavriel returned with a brick used in the building that had within it the body of a Jewish child and the decision went forth to sink the Egyptians in the Yam Suf . The Yam Suf raged all night , Till HaShem Personally Came down And Split the Sea , for the Sea said to Moshe it will only obey and open for the Master of the Universe . But the Tribe of Yehudah Nachshon ben Amminadav entered before it split , showing his Emunah and the leader of Binyamin entered just after him . The Sea Split into twelve different pathways so that each Tribe could walk through separately , yet through the walls of water , the Tribes could see the tribe next to them for comfort . As Yosef's coffin was brought down to the Yam Suf , the Sea opened at that moment , for as Yosef had kept himself pure from Potifar's wife Zulaicha , so did the Sea respect his purity . The Angel Gavriel stood at the Walls of water helping to keep them up . The water walls formed beautiful mosaic patterns that gave off sound and one needed to only stretch out one's hand to drink from this pure sweet water and then the wall of water would close in that spot again . The Egyptians were basically plunged into darkness for the Pillar of Fire and the Clouds of Glory that led the Children of Israel , went behind our camp and blocked the Egyptians from their pursuit until their time had come for them to move forward and they were plunged into darkness , thus getting their seventh day of the Plague of Darkness , for each Plague usually lasted a week but this plague had only lasted for six days for the Egyptians , where for the first three days there was a semi darkness , where they could still move and see each other partly and rise and then as Torah Tells us , they were plunged into a complete thick physical darkness where they could not even see their own brother and could not rise from their place or move at all for this darkness was tangible like a wall for three days , yet for us , HaShem Lit Up the night . Water in other places in the World also split , thus publicizing the Miracle . The Waters of the Yam Suf also formed a roof over us to shield us from the Egyptians arrows which were already being stopped by the Clouds of Glory From HaShem . The time came for the Egyptians to enter the Sea and they , according to our Rabbonnim , were hit with 250 Plagues within the Yam Suf , each Egyptian suffering according to the measure in which he hurt us Jews . The Sea spat out the Egyptians on the shore so that we could see this was the end of them . The Sea churned them , hitting them like iron . They sank into the mud within , yet we walked on dry solid ground , a punishment for them for putting us in the brick pits . Pharaoh was the only one to survive so as to witness HaShem's Truth And Power and he never returned to Egypt , but traveled to Nineveh , where he became the king there and this time , when Yonah came to tell them to repent , he listened . Our People sang a Shir praising HaShem For His Mighty Acts and so , did the women led by Miriam , also dance and sing . This was the last time , we saw those Egyptians that hurt us . It is interesting to note , that The Reed Sea ( not Red Sea ) is called Yam Suf . The words ' Yam Suf ,' are spelled exactly the same as ' Yom Sof ,' which means ' The End or Final Day . ' This was the last day that the Egyptians ever pursued us , for after this miraculous event we , the Children of Israel , were free and were in that generation , never bothered again from these Mitzrim Egyptians . This is like the End Of Days , when we will finally be free of all that want to hurt us , and we will live In Peace and Safety . How significant is each word in our Beautiful Torah From HaShem . Passover , The Festival of our Freedom , is all about being saved and freed from our oppressors . As I mentioned earlier , we even on the Seder night , put out a glass for Eliyahu Ha Navi who , at the End of Days , will anoint the Moshiach . Thus our Pesach is very symbolic of not just our Freedom from Egypt , but also our freedom from this present Olam Hazeh , and our entering into Olam Habah The World To Come , after Moshiach . Such is the hidden deep meaning of HaShem's Yam Suf Miracle , celebrated near the end of our Passover Festival Yom Tov . So , we are to look forever forward just as we are to look back as we celebrate our Passover as if we too were redeemed , for everything that happens , is a link to what is to come . Each learning experience , is a step up into our future . Freedom from the shackles of our Yetzer Horah , will be a beautiful thing to look forward to , at the End of Days , for then we will have been forgiven for the Aveirah that took us out of Gan Eiden . This too is Passover , the freeing of our Yetzer Horah and all that pulls us down to lower spiritual levels , Chas Ve Shalom . Each step we take , must always be a step up toward our Creator HaShem . Just as we rid ourselves of the Chometz on Pesach so must we rid ourselves of arrogance , unholiness and lack of morals and most certainly foreign ways and beliefs . To truly get to the ' Yom Sof , ' 'The End Day , ' let us all rid ourselves of the Chometz of our egos and lack of holy spirituality and the useless want for the physical and all its traps . Let us , each day appreciate the Beautiful Gift That HaShem Gives us , to work ourselves up toward Him . And on this Shabbos Day which comes on the last day of Pesach , let us look toward the Eternal Shabbos , which is what Shabbos at the Beginning was to be . Let us all return to HaShem And All His Mitzvos And Commandments and keep Shabbos As HaShem Calls Upon us to do and let us make this a Holy Shabbos World Where HaShem Can Dwell With us and make this the Final Redemption where we can step into Gan Eiden and walk in closeness and love with our Beloved HaShem . May every step we take , lead us to our final Yam Suf and to The Eternal Shabbos And The End of Days with HaShem Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu HaShem The Holy One Blessed Be He .
