Parashas Bamidbar

Our Parsha this Shabbos is Parashas Bamidbar. This Shabbos is also the Shabbos before Shavuot when we Jews received our Holy Torah on Har Sinai. So this Parsha of Bamidbar is at such a special time where we remember HaShem Coming down on Mount Sinai to Give us his Holy Tablets.
In this Parsha which starts out the Fourth Book of The Torah,HaShem asks Moshe to take a census of the people in the Bamidbar in the Wilderness. This was the fourth census HaShem asked for. This Census was done on the Hebrew Month of Iyar.
The Levites were not counted among them but were counted separately.
Then HaShem instructs on how the Tribes of Israel were to journey in their encampment positions, which was the same as they traveled before ,when going to bury Yaakov. Each Tribe was to travel by their Banner and Insignias of their Tribe and Flag according to the colour of the stone that represents them on the precious stones of the High Priest's Breastplate.
The Parsha continues instructing on the Appointment of the Levites and their replacement of the First-Born and the Kohathite's (one of the sons of Levi, the others being the Gershonites and Merarites) task in carrying the Holy Articles remembering not to touch anything Holy with their bare hands.
It was in the order prescribed here in this Book of Bamidbar how the Children of Israel would travel in the Bamidbar - Wilderness .
It is so interesting that we travel in this supposed barren Wilderness, yet for us, it was everything but barren.
How could this be possible.
The answer to that is within the Hebrew Word that is the Name of this Book of The Torah and Parsha - 'Bamidbar .'
Within the Hebrew Word 'Bamidbar' are the Hebrew Words ' Bah Medaber' which means 'And Comes the Words of Speech.' Whose Speech? HaShem's Speech and Words. It was in this Wilderness Bamidbar that HaShem's Sweet Words were through Moshe and what was once barren, became sweet. A place where HaShem's Voice is not acknowledged is a place of barrenness Chas Ve SHalom.
It was here in this Bamidbar that The Torah first got taught in a place of total humility. It is only when we humble ourselves before HaShem , that we can truly follow Him Home. That we can truly learn His Holy Torah . That we can truly make this World all that HaShem Wants us to.
When we let the 'Ba Medaber' - 'Words of HaShem ' Come to us , while keeping ourselves humble and small, it is then that we can complete the Commandment that HaShem Gave us in the beginning , which was to Emulate HaShem . HaShem is so Humble ,considering that He Created everything ,that He Keeps Himself hidden and Doesn't Show Himself in our faces waiting for thanks even though all things are due to Him.
There would be Nothing and not even that ,if HaShem Didn't Make Creation .
It is only if we are like the Bamidbar,Wilderness by remaining humble , that we can let the Words of HaShem become a part of us .
HaShem spoke to Moshe in the Bamidbar and seeing that HaShem is all powerful and His Voice is never-ending, this means that his Voice is still coming to us all from then, from that time , if we would only listen and be humble .
The word 'Bamidbar' also gives us another secret. If we take this Word's Gematria, it adds up to 248 ,which is the number of Positive Commandments in The Torah , showing us that to receive HaShem's Torah, we must return to the Bamidbar , in other words , make ourselves humble and put our own wants aside so as to receive HaShem.
This Shabbos is the Shabbos before the 6th of Sivan which is Shavuot, the Day HaShem Came down on Har Sinai and the Day we received the Ten Commandments and heard HaShem's Voice .So let us stand before HaShem on this Holy Day of Shabbos and on the Holy Day of Shavuot and humble ourselves before HaShem ensuring that we always follow HaShem and His Commandments with our whole heart and being and soul.
With Love to HaShem , I wish HaShem with Love , a Beautiful Shabbos Kodesh and Chodesh Tov Sivan and Chag Shavuot Sameach with Love and to my fellow Yidden,a beautiful Shabbos Kodesh and Chodesh Tov and Chag Shavuot Sameach with love.
