Our Parsha this Shabbos is Parashas Beha'alotcha where HaShem asks Moshe to tell Aharon that when he lights the Menorah,it must be toward the face of the Menorah where the seven lamps are to cast their light.
This was a special task for Aharon to do every day.
This task of kindling 'Beha'alotcha' the Menorah had to be done with a special order, that when the lamps were kindled, they were to be kindled toward the 'Face of the Menorah.'
How can this be,if a Menorah does not have a face? What is being referred to here?
The word here in Hebrew that is used for 'Face,' is the Hebrew word 'P'nei.' Taking a deeper look at this word we see that this word 'P'nei,' is like the word 'P'nima,' which means 'Interior or Within.' In other words,Aharon was to kindle the Menorah toward the innermost lamp which was the middle one. This was what is mean't by the 'Face of the Menorah.' The middle lamp, the central one, represented HaShem ,for even the word used refers to HaShem , as the word 'Pnei,' is the word 'Panim' which means 'Face' and in this verse ends with a Yud, which can be rendered as 'My Face,' in reference to HaShem, who was speaking. So,Aharon was being instructed to kindle the lamps toward HaShem , Who is our central Light Who made us all and all of Creation. The lamps around the central one, are like our Souls that must always be toward HaShem and His Wishes. We are to , every day , work our souls toward HaShem and His Holiness for it is from HaShem that our light and life emanates.Within each one of us,like the Menorah, HaShem is within us ,within our souls that burn toward HaShem yearning to be one with HaShem .
So ,in kindling the Menorah ,like us kindling our physicalities toward HaShem by keeping His Torah, we hone all physicality toward the Holiness of G-D and so, raise ourselves to our Creator. Thus we 'Rise and Elevate,' which is in Hebrew the word 'Alah or Ilah,' our bodies and the physicality around us to an elevated level. This word 'Ilah or Alah,' which means 'Elevate or Rise,' is within the Hebrew word 'Beha'alotcha,' showing that the act of kindling is the act of elevating and raising ourselves toward our Creator. Thus when Aharon 'Beha'alotcha,'-'Kindled' the lamps toward the central lamp, Aharon was elevating the very Physical World , to a level of Spirituality that was Holy and , as the candle reaches upwards, so did this action ,which we are also to follow in keeping HaShem's Laws, an action that elevates the very physicality of Creation toward HaShem .
The light within us all that burns with life , yearns to be close to our Creator . To raise and elevate that life on a level above the physical boundaries of this Physical World , we need to do all HaShem asks of us to do , to keep the light within us burning closer toward HaShem .The act of kindling is an act of obedience to the very Torah of HaShem that HaShem wrote as a blueprint to this World two thousand years before Creation . This World cannot exist without It's Central Flame - HaShem .If HaShem had to stop thinking of us for an instant, we would cease to exist .Thus HaShem constantly keeps the flame burning for this World thinking all the time about each and every one of us. HaShem Seeks to make the Physicality that we are and that is around us, a part of the Spirituality above ,so that they can become one. This can only be done if each and every one of us 'Beha'alotcha,' - 'Kindles' ourselves always toward HaShem . Then all Creation can be at one with HaShem and the very Heavens can become a place on Earth where HaShem can dwell among us.
HaShem tells Moshe to make the Menorah out of one hammered out piece of Gold. This signifies that we are all to be one with HaShem , our Central Light .HaShem also instructs Moshe to make the Menorah as HaShem showed Moshe .There is no diagram in the Torah so this shows us that there were Laws that Moshe was given that were not written down but carried through the generations Orally through our Sages as a key to the Torah HaShem Gave which makes up our Holy Mishna (Torah She B'Al Peh),all with proven references to the Written Word (Torah She Bichtav) of Torah.
HaShem Emanates Perfect Light and Does not need our light of a Menorah. Yet HaShem asked that Aharon kindle the physical light so that this Physical World can raise and elevate itself to the 'P'nei,' - the 'Face,' of HaShem .
So may we all hold onto HaShem's Light of Torah and kindle ourselves always toward HaShem's Light and Love.
With Love to HaShem, I wish HaShem with Love, a Beautiful Shabbos Kodesh with Love and our light of obedience and to all my fellow Jews, a beautiful Holy Shabbos Kodesh filled with light and with love.
