Parashas Ha'Azinu

Our Parsha this Shabbos just before Succos is Parashas Ha'Azinu which means 'And Give Ear.'
HaShem instructed Moshe to write this song that is to carry through the centuries for our people, to remind us that G-D warned us to listen to His Commandments and follow Him faithfully or we would be punished and so,Ha'Azinu is to stand as a Shira- a Song that shows HaShem warned us to keep His Commandments and also to help bring us back onto the right path of HaShem, for our own sakes. The Midrash tells us that this is the fourth of ten songs that gets written, the Tenth one will be in Mashiach's time. The first Shira was by Adam in Gan Eiden when he Blessed the Holy Shabbos Day.The second Shira was at the shores of the Yam Suf after HaShem saved us and split the waters. The third Shira was when B'nei Yisrael sang to praise the Well of Miriam. This 'Ha'Azinu' was the fourth Shira. The fifth Shira was in Yehoshuah's (Joshuah's) time when the Emorites were fought in Givon and the Sun stopped in the sky.The sixth Shira (Song) was a Shira by Devorah and Barak when HaShem saved us from Sisera and the conquering Army. The seventh Shira was when Chana gave birth to Shmuel in Shmuel II .The eighth Shira was composed by Dovid Hamelech at the end of his life to HaShem for saving him from all his enemies II Shmuel 22.The ninth Shira was by Shlomo Hamelech when he wrote Shir HaShirim and as I said, the tenth one will be sung by the Jewish people when HaShem redeems us from our present exile.
Ha'Azinu is a song of ages and HaShem wanted us to understand that when we remain in exile,it is because we didn't all keep HaShem's Commandments and that we need to remember HaShem's Commandments and keep them as HaShem instructs so HaShem can redeem us.
The word 'Ha'Azinu,' means 'To Give Ear.' But who is HaShem and Moshe referring to that must give ear?The verses tell us.HaShem and Moshe call on Shamaim and Ha Aretz to give ear- The Heavens and the Earth and be the two witnesses to our behaviour. Not just witnesses but also the response to how we treat HaShem, for if we listen and 'Ha'Azinu' - 'Give Ear,' then the Earth will give us of its bounty that HaShem Blesses it with and the Heavens will reward us as HaShem's Heaven can.But if we don't listen, the Earth will shut off the bounty that HaShem has Blessed it with and the Heavens will close its doors.
So The Heavens and the Earth will act as witnesses to everything we do and will work together,to ensure that we grow.If we listen to the Laws we need to do on this Earth then Earth will work together with Heaven and we will be uplifted toward HaShem. But if we don't listen,HaShem will see to it that the Heavens and the Earth work against our personal desires in bringing us to follow the right path.
Many times,HaShem uses the words 'Listen,' or 'Hear.'HaShem used this concept in Devarim 6:4 (the beginning words of the Shema that we say) when HaShem called on us to hear that HaShem is our G-D and HaShem is One.Here again HaShem asks for Him to be heard. All Blessings start with 'Hearing HaShem and His Wishes and following them.
HaShem only is to be followed for only HaShem made Creation.
Moshe had reached such a high spiritual level that he was on a level to command Heaven and Earth to hear and watch over us.The reward of the righteous is to be close to HaShem and play a true role in taking HaShem's Creation to where it needs to go.The holier we become, the more we can work in the right direction to bring Creation to HaShem's Intended fulfillment.
So many times have we wronged HaShem. This song hints at our very big aveirah of the cheit ha'eigel - the golden calf, when (as the Midrash says) the number of words in the first four verses in this Parsha add up to 40 words , reminding us of the 40 days between the time HaShem came down to us after which Moshe went up to HaShem, until the time the cheit ha'eigel was made.HaShem wants us to follow Him for our sakes.HaShem wants our closeness. We too need to desire His closeness so that the last verses of this Shira of 'Ha'Azinu,' can come to pass where HaShem redeems us and Blesses us as HaShem has always wanted to.
But for this to happen,we need to stop giving ear to our own desires and only , 'Ha'Azinu,' - ' Give Ear,' to HaShem's Wishes.
It is not enough to say that others can keep the Laws while we don't have to Chas Ve Shalom, for like a few people in a boat where only one of them drills a hole under his own seat and says to the others that he is only drowning himself,so will everyone drown-the same with us.We all need to keep HaShem's Laws for we all affect each other and HaShem wants us all close and that Creation in its entirety gets to where it needs to go.As one person can destroy much good as Shlomo Hamelech said,so do our sages say, that for one man 'Adam,' the world was Created.Let us each be that one person and so,bring this Creation to it's intended Holiness and closeness to HaShem.
As we hold together the four species on Succos, may we all come together in love and harmony to 'Ha'Azinu,' - ' And Give Ear,' to HaShem Who is One,as one together in harmony.
As we sit in our Succahs celebrating the beautiful Yom Tov of Succos, let us remember to 'Ha'Azinu,' - 'And Give Ear,' to HaShem and His Words of Torah and again open this World to be surrounded by HaShem's closeness and love and our people, with HaShem's Holy Clouds of Glory as we were then.So may it be now.
Let this Yom Tov of Succos bring on the Final Redemption in our days ,for as the Hebrew word 'Ha'Azinu,' comes to 79 in Gematriah which is 7+9=16 and 1+6=7 ,the number value of Mashiach and the Final Redemption,so,as we all ,as an entire Creation 'Ha'Azinu,' - 'Give Ear,' to HaShem , may we be Blessed to be in the Presence of HaShem.
With love Blessed HaShem may You have a Blessed beautiful and special precious Shabbos Kodesh and Good Yom Tov with love and to all,a Blessed Shabbos Kodesh and Good Yom Tov with love.
