Our Parashah Sedra this Shabbos is a double portion and is 'Acharei Mot-Kedoshim.' When two Torah portions are put together , it shows that there is a relationship between them both.
In the first Portion - 'Acharei Mot,' HaShem speaks with Moshe and instructs him of when Aharon can come into the Sanctuary, that it cannot be at all times, because HaShem's Shechinah rests on the Ark Cover. In Parashat 'Kedoshim,' HaShem instructs on Laws that will keep us Holy and asks us to be holy for HaShem is Holy.
So,we see that both of these Parashas are about keeping Holy.
We know that we are physical beings with physical temptations and a Yetzer Harah that tries to test us whether we will keep HaShem's Mitzvot or not. So,while we are tested and while we are in this physical state in this present world,we are not totally pure.We need HaShem's Commandments to make us and keep us Holy as HaShem is Holy which is what we see in one of our Parashas this week of 'Kedoshim . ' While we are not totally pure,we cannot fully and with purity stand before HaShem as closely as we could if we were pure as we could and should be .There are times when we don't always do what HaShem wants us to do and this prevents us from coming into HaShem's Closeness like we deeply could if we were pure. This we can see if we look deeply into our Parsha of 'Acharei Mot,' when Aharon couldn't always approach HaShem's Holiness on the Ark Cover.
The Torah is given to us so that we can streamline our physicalities in order to purify our bodies and lift them to purity so that we can link totally with the soul within us and so,learn to be holy as HaShem is Holy.
But why would these Laws of Holiness come to us just after Aharon had lost his two sons? To teach us that when we approach HaShem, which is at all times ,as HaShem is always around us, then we are to keep ourselves pure and holy all the time .Not holy according to our own standards and thoughts ,as Nadav and Avihu (Aharon's two sons) thought when they did what they as they believed that what they were doing was the right thing according to their own standards , by bringing an alien fire (that which was of their own standards of holiness) into The Holy Place. But it was not Holy by HaShem's Standards it was not Holy as it was not what HaShem had Commanded I,for HaShem knows what is needed and as HaShem hints at this in our Parsha,we are to be holy as HaShem is Holy . It is HaShem's Standards we are to emulate.
HaShem is all around us.HaShem ' Is .' At all times , past , present and future , HaShem ' Is .'
So at all times we are to act with holiness, whether we are with others or alone, whether we are in the light of day or the dark of night.HaShem is there. HaShem 'Is .' Thus at all times we are in the Holy Presence of our Beloved HaShem and so,at all times we are to be holy as HaShem is Holy .
Many in history have gone their own way and tried to lead others to their own version of holiness. There is no future in their ideals for it is only by HaShem that we are to live . It is only by HaShem that we breathe and through HaShem's Commandments and Ways ,will continue to breathe . We can never reach HaShem's Holiness but we are to work toward it with every breath we are given by HaShem .For this , we live .
HaShem tells us to be Holy as HaShem Himself Is Holy and this means at all times we are to keep HAShem's Commandments and be kind and moral and pure so that at all times we can approach HaShem closely and be pure for HaShem Who is around us all the time .
Our sages discussed what the most important Mitzvah is.Some of our Sages brought up the Laws mentioned within the Shema prayer and other Sages brought up other Laws, but it was decided that the most important Mitzvah is the one that we are to do at the moment we are meant to do it .For HaShem gives us Creation that allows us to do many Mitzvot ,that includes Shabbos,Kashrut ,The Yomim Tovim and all our precious Holy Torah Laws .At the moment each of these Mitzvot are to be done, that Law is the most important Mitzvah at that moment to do .Keeping to HaShem's Laws and Holy Ways will keep us holy and moral and teach us compassion and will lead us to the path of Holiness that HaShem tells us to stay on.Keeping to the purity that G-D instructs us to keep to , will lead us to emulate the Sweet Holiness of our Precious HaShem .
With love to HaShem I wish HaShem with deepest love,a Blessed and Sweet Shabbos Kodesh and to all, a sweet and Blessed Holy Shabbos Kodesh with love.
