The Parsha this Shabbos is Parashas Beshalach . In this Beautiful Sedra , we learn about The Almighty's Miracle at the Yam Suf, with the Splitting of the Reed Sea . After HaShem Saved us , we sang a Song of thanks to HaShem and then Miryam too , took up her drum and she too with the women , praised HaShem . HaShem Performed Many Miracles Within That Miracle That HaShem Performed for us At the Yam Suf . The Haftorah for this Parsha is in Judges 4 : 4 - 5 : 31 and it also includes the song that was sung in thanks for HaShem's Salvation , by Devorah and Barak , When HaShem Subjugated Yavin , king of Canaan , on our behalf . Our people , The Children of Israel , had left Mitzrayim Egypt And HaShem Would Have Led us straight to the Holy Land , had it not been for what the Spies later on did . Thirty years before we left Mitzrayim , some of our people from one of our Tribes , the B'nei Ephraim , had miscalculated the time of the redemption and had left Egypt earlier and so , they were attacked and killed . Their bodies had been just left strewn on the road and field . This was one of the reasons Why HaShem Led our people , on the Exodus , away from the areas of the Pelishtim , for we would have seen our fellow Jews lying slain and we would have become disheartened and fearful and would have returned to Egypt Chas Ve Shalom . Another reason was , due to a long standing agreement that we had with Avimelech , from our Fore-Father's time that we would not come near each other to war , us Israel and the Pelishtim till our and their son's son's time ( as was per the agreement ) and Avimelech's grandson was still alive and so , Does HaShem , In The Torah , Put it as " Ki Karov Hu " - " For it was near , " for this agreement was still ' near ' or in force at that time that we were leaving Egypt . Thus , HaShem Led us away from them . HaShem Led us Toward the Wilderness . With us , we were carrying the bones of Yosef and the leaders of the other Tribes too , from Succoth to Etham , Where HaShem Went Before us By day , In a Pillar of Cloud To Lead us and By night , In a Pillar of Fire , with the Malachim Angles Michael and Gavriel and other Malachim that surrounded our Camp , Under The Command Of HaShem . HaShem Is A Master Strategist And Therefore HaShem Had Moshe tell the people to make a strategic move and turn back towards Egypt's direction and encamp before " Pi-hachirot , between Migdol and the Sea , before Baal-zephon ( the fake false idol worship deity Avodah Zorah of the north ) . The Egyptians had set up this false deity to supposedly prevent anyone leaving Egypt and taking any wealth or valuables out of Egypt . The word ' Mitzrayim ' - ' Egypt , ' meant 'borders , ' for the Egyptians tried to prevent people from leaving their borders when they came into them , especially us Jews . Thus HaShem Knew that the Egyptians would think that their foolish false idol had stopped us leaving and so , Pharaoh did exactly As HaShem Planned , When HaShem Had us go back and stop in this exact place . Pharaoh and his men pursued us and that was their downfall . Pharaoh had sent with the Children of Israel , Egyptian officers to make sure that after the three days , we would return to Egypt . The three days were now up and these officers tried telling us to return to Egypt , but we refused and some of the officers were slain when they became more aggressive and forceful . Some of Egypt's officers escaped and returned to Pharaoh and told him that we were not returning . HaShem Had Told us to remain in the strip of Land by the Sea so that it would appear as though our only way out would be either back in the direction of Egypt , or toward the Wilderness . But HaShem Had Gotten Wild Animals to stand bordering the Wilderness , so that we could not go that way and thus did Pharaoh get the idea that we were trapped and so , with his heart hardened and realizing how valuable we were as a work force , harnessed his own chariot by himself ( unlike other times , where he would have had servants do it for him ) and others too harnessed their chariots and he took six hundred elite chariots , with officers in them all , adding an extra horse ( that remained after the plague of pestilence , for some of the animals were taken into shelter , taking an extra horse per chariot ) , so that they would be able to ride much faster and so he and they pursued us and caught up with us at the Sea . Where in Shemos 14 : 5 , it talks of how Pharaoh was told that we had fled , the word " Fled , " in Hebrew is " Barach " and its Gematrical value is 2 + 200 + 8 = 210 , the exact amount of years that we spent in slavery , so they subconsciously knew that we would not return , for the years That HaShem reduced our slavery to , was now up . The reason it is called " Pi- hachirot , " is that at this particular point where we were encamped , were Two Large Pillars with carved images on the Pillars of faces and mouths , thus the word " Pi and hachirot " were to the Egyptian idol worshipers , as mouth and Pillars , for they thought that these stone mouths would speak and stop anyone leaving Egypt . Also , " Baal-zephon " was an idol statue carved in the shape of a large aggressive dog , the only idol That HaShem Had Left , to give the Egyptians the opportunity to either admit it is idol worship , or to foolishly think that it had power that prevented us leaving . The Egyptians made the wrong choice and hounded after us incorrectly , for idols are worthless pieces of clay ( as is anything wrong that humans put up as a deity , For Only HaShem The One And Only , Is G-D . This was why HaShem , The Master Strategist , Had us stop at this exact spot , To Test And Punish the Egyptians . The Egyptians were caught by their own foolish idol worship . The Children of Israel and the Eirev Rav , the mixed multitude of Egyptians and other nation's people that had joined us when we left Egypt , That HaShem Had Warned Moshe not to take with us , saw the Egyptians advancing and so , feared for their lives . Different factions showed their fear in different ways . Some wanted to return to Egypt while others wanted to give back what the Egyptians had given them , when leaving and still others wanted to fight the Egyptians , while a small faction , wanted to let out war cries and go to full out war with the Egyptians and so , Moshe , the perfect Leader , calmed them all , each faction , with words suited to all their wishes , by saying , " Do not fear " ( to those who did fear ) , " stand fast " ( to those who wanted to go to war ) " and see The Salvation Of HaShem That He Will Perform For you today ; for as you have seen Egypt today , you shall not see them ever again " ( to those who wanted to return to Egypt , or that feared them ) and " HaShem Shall Do battle for you " ( for those who wanted to fight back and for those who set up for all out war ) " and you shall remain silent " ( for all those who spoke of war cries ) . Moshe cried out to HaShem , Who Told him to lift up his staff and split the Sea . But the Sea did not want to open for us . HaShem Reminded the Sea of its agreement in the Beginning , That HaShem Would Set a boundary for the Waters and so it had to obey . But it did not want to obey Moshe and Samael , the Angel who fights against us Jews from generation to generation and who tempted Chava in the Garden , tried to get the Angel of the Sea to not open and to not obey HaShem , for he wanted us Jews killed . HaShem Is G-D . The Sea had no choice but to finally open . The Angel Michael , who was standing in front of the Children of Israel , now went to stand behind us , With HaShem's Help , helping to shield us with the Pillar of Cloud that also went behind us , putting the Egyptians in Darkness and absorbing their arrows , that the Egyptians were shooting at us . The Pillar of Fire also did the same , stopping in front of the Pillar of Cloud , thus giving us light , while the Egyptians were put in darkness . It was an extra time of Darkness added to the six days of The Plague of Darkness that hit Egypt , as each Plague was seven days long except the last Plague . HaShem Moved the Sea with a strong east wind all the night And Split the Sea , Miraculously Leaving dry land as a base to walk on . Our Rabbonim also say that the Sea also relented and opened when the bones of Yosef were brought close to it , for the purity of Yosef , not listening to Zulaicha's attempts at him , also caused the Sea to respect Yosef's bones , who had not fallen to the Yetzer Horah . The Sea split in twelve pathways so that each Tribe could walk in its own pathway . The waters between each pathway were see-through , so each Tribe could get comfort by seeing the Tribe next to them walking along - side them too . Should any of our people want to drink , all they had to do was just stretch out their hand to the walls of water and water would come into their hand in a spring form and when they had their fill , the spring would close again . The walls of water were of brilliant shapes and patterns , so as to calm us , full of wonderful colours . The waters shielded us from the sides and also from the top . This was the seventh day during Passover , the seventh day after leaving Egypt . From HaShem Miraculously , the Sea bed was completely dry so that we could walk safely upon it . Moshe went last through the Sea , so that we would not become disheartened , for if he would have gone first , we might fear the Sea closing afterwards . How beautiful and kind and caring and thoughtful and sensitive to other people's feelings was our Beloved HaShem and Moshe . HaShem Confounded the Egyptians and Had the Pillar of Fire , burn off a single wheel ( The word " Wheel " - " Ofan " is written in the singular in the Hebrew - Shemos 14 : 25 ) from each chariot , so that they could not manoeuvre them ( not all the wheels , as then the horses could still have pulled them ) , thus causing them to drive with difficulty and the Egyptians cried out That " HaShem Is Waging War For " us against them . HaShem Had Moshe Stretch out his hand ( not staff - so those who thought it was only through a staff That HaShem had Moshe perform Miracles , would realize That HaShem Does Not Need a staff and nor does Moshe , If HaShem Wills it ) and the Water came back on the Egyptians and their chariots and horse-men . Torah also says That " HaShem Churned ' Egypt ' in the midst of the sea , " which refers to the whole of Egypt , For HaShem Put the whole of Egypt in spiritual turmoil as if they too ( those who were not at the sea ) , into that churning in the sea and they also suffered , wherever they stood . Every description of what happened to the Egyptians is given so that it shows the different suffering , each individual Egyptian suffered , depending on how they had treated us . The Locust Swarm That had Been Taken By HaShem , after the Plague of Locusts And That Were Put Into the Yam Suf , now continued to attack the Egyptians from inside the water . In the Passover Haggadah , our Rabbis discuss how many more Plagues hit the Egyptians in the Sea , than actually hit them in Egypt . The people doubted that the Egyptians were actually dead , So HaShem Had the Sea spit them out onto the banks so that we could see That HaShem Had Saved us and that we would no longer need to worry about them . Also in that spot , Shamayim and Gan Eiden , feeds tributaries into the Yam Suf and it was there , that Yosef , in the previous generation , had hidden certain valuables , that we found that came up in the Sea , after this event , for Yosef had been shown and thus fore - saw that we would leave Egypt through this route . The Egyptians now felt how it feels when they threw our babies into the River . The people believed In HaShem and in His Servant Moshe . But what happened to Pharaoh , we ask . HaShem had Sent fires to burn the Egyptians' home in Egypt , which confounded the Egyptians even more , before they even entered the Sea , for they could see from afar , the burning smoke in Egypt . Pharaoh , being the only one to survive , never returned to Egypt . He ended up traveling to Nineveh , where he eventually became king there and he was the ruler who was told by the Prophet Yonah - Jonah , that he and his city must repent ( in the Book of Yonah - Jonah ) . This time he listened . Moshe and our people then sang a song at the Sea and after that Miryam too took her drum in her hand and the other women too went forth and all exalted and thanked HaShem . We Daven this song in our Shacharis Davening every morning . How Beautiful Is HaShem . How beautiful it is to be Jewish . From there , Moshe " caused " Israel to journey from there - " caused " because we did not want to leave this spot where such A Saving Miracle Took Place From HaShem . When we did leave , we went to the Wilderness of Shur , a three day journey in the Wilderness and came to Marah , but there the water was " Bitter " - " Marah . " It was not just the water that had a bitter essence , but our Faith in HaShem , which makes all the difference to what happens to us and how we perceive the physical things around us , for if we are positive and have faith In HaShem , so is our outlook and so will be our life . We complained there at this place about what we would drink . HaShem Showed Moshe a tree , which when thrown in the water , would make it sweet . It wasn't just the tree that made the water sweet , but as I mentioned , it was also our faith In HaShem and outlook and trust In HaShem . HaShem took this complaint of ours as well as our complaints at the Sea as some of the rebellion in the Wilderness . We then arrived at Elim , where there were twelve springs , for the Twelve Tribes of Israel and seventy date palms - for the seventy members of the future Sanhedrin and also the seventy nations on Earth . From there , we arrived in the Wilderness of Sin , between Elim and Sinai and again complained against Moshe and Aharon . HaShem Took this as another of the Ten Times that we tested HaShem , in the Wilderness . The people cried out for meat . HaShem Sent down here a special food from Shamayim , a Spiritual form of food that even the Malachim partake of , for gaining Wisdom . HaShem First Wet the ground To Clean it For us And Then On Top Of that , Laid Down A Layer Of Dew , like a tray , with such love and care , All Prepared For This Special Food that we had never seen before . We asked " Mann Hu " - " What is this " and so it became known to us as " Mann " - " or Mannah . " HaShem Tested us with it , to see our spirituality for the less preparation we personally wanted to do with it , the more holy and spiritual we are and could taste its sweetness . The less holy , had to bake it to get their physical wants of taste . It could taste like anything one thought of at the time that one ate it . " Also , HaShem Tested us that we would be given a double portion before the Shabbos on friday , with instructions not to gather it on Shabbos for it would not fall then . We were only to collect an Omer size per person . Whoever took more or less , it would Miraculously From HaShem , still be an Omer size . Sadly , Dathan and Aviram disobeyed , for we were to trust that every day , HaShem Would Look After us And Send Again the next day and thus we were not to leave over from it until the morning , but these two tried to keep it till morning and it became wormy and stank , for in the morning the people saw huge worms coming out of Dathan and Aviram's tents . They also tried to trick the people , by on Shabbos , wrongly putting out purposefully , some Mannah on the ground to try and show up HaShem , But HaShem Sent birds to devour them . We ate the Mannah in the morning and the quail in the evening . The Mannah continued till the fortieth year in the Wilderness , till we reached the borders of Canaan . HaShem Had Moshe have Aharon , put an Omer of Mann away for safekeeping for the generations . This piece of Mannah , will show itself in Moshiach's time . We journeyed further and encamped in Rephidim , where again we were tested with no water . The people complained and contended again with Moshe and it was here That HaShem Gave us the Rock of Water , that became known as the Well of Miryam , which Moshe Was Told At That Time , to strike with his staff and so water gushed out . This Rock followed the Children of Israel all the years during the time that Miryam was with us in the Wilderness and would give off small streams that ran alongside each Tribe , so that they could drink . This Rock of Water Was Given By HaShem , in Miryam's honour , for it was Miryam , who had watched over little Avigdor Moishe in the basket while he was set upon the Nile . Just to mention , that when we journeyed from the Wilderness of Sin , to our journeys and when we encamped in Rephidim , where there was no water to drink and were tested and where we complained , the place was known as " Massah U' Merivah " - " Test and Contention . " The people so wrongly had asked " Is HaShem among us or not ? " How sad , Considering That HaShem Had Shown us So Much How Much He Is With us , but having suffered so much in Egypt , we kept fearing , worrying and losing faith . It was then That HaShem Sent Amalek against us - descendants of Eisav's grandson Amalek . They battled us in Rephidim . Amalek was unlike all the other nations that were in awe of HaShem's Miracles For us , His Jewish people , The Children of Israel , but Amalek , was not in Awe and mocked HaShem . They had no reason to attack us as we were not coming to occupy their land . They attacked us out of pure hatred for us . They constantly bring the thoughts of greatness for HaShem , down . HaShem Ordered us from generation to generation , to wipe Amalek out . This is a permanent Mitzvah that where ever they are , we are to remove them and their Un - G-Dly ways from existence . Moshe sent Joshua Yehoshuah to lead our army to battle them , knowing that Yehoshuah comes from the line of Yosef Ephraim and so has the spiritual power to defeat Amalek ( " Am Lek / Lak " - " A People that Licks the blood of People " ) and when our people kept faith In HaShem , we were victorious , but when we lost faith , Amalek started to win . Such is the Way to beat Amalek - to have faith In HaShem and follow HaShem's Torah . It got to a stage that we were loosing faith and where Moshe had gone up on top of the hill to pray spiritually for us , that his hands became heavy due to our doubt and so , Moshe was given a stone to sit upon and Aharon and Chur held up his hands in faithful prayer until sunset and so , With HaShem's Help , Joshua Yehoshuah weakened Amalek with the sword's blade . So Did HaShem Command Moshe to write this as a remembrance in the Book and recite it in the ears of Yehoshuah , that he ( and us ) " shall erase the memory of Amalek from under the Heavens . " We could not at that time completely destroy Amalek , for the time for their final destruction , had not yet arrived . It will only be at The End of Days , when Amalek's "Sar " - " Protective Angel " who is Samael ( the angel who constantly wants our demise , Chas Ve Shalom , and who tempted Chavah in the Garden of Eden Gan Eiden ) , is destroyed . The same was with " Utz " the guardian Angel of Egypt , who we saw coming to battle us at the Yam Suf , when The Leaders of the Tribe of Binyamin and Yehudah ( Nachshon Ben Amminadav ) , faithfully stepped into the Waters of the Reed Sea , before it split , with faith In HaShem . Moshe built there an altar and called it , " HaShem Nisi " - " HaShem Is my Miracle " and he said , " For the hand is on the throne of G-D : HaShem Maintains a war Against Amalek , from generation to generation . " It is this part of The Holy Torah , that we read on Purim , a time When HaShem Turned Around the evil scheme of haman , an Amalekite And Destroyed him And his sons And HaShem Saved us . So ends the Parsha . The Parsha is called " Beshalach " - " Sent . " The Gematriah of this word " Beshalach " is 340 , where 3 + 4 + 0 = 7 , thus it totals 7 . This is the Gematrical value of the word Mashiach . The very sending of an emissary For HaShem , can bring Moshiach , depending on how we act to HaShem , in what ever time he or she ( that emissary ) comes and so can bring on The Final Days and Mashiach . Whether that emissary is an enemy like Pharaoh that " Beshalach " - " Sends , " or whether that emissary is a most holy man like Moshe , or like Moshiach will be . Either way , all roads lead to HaShem's Will . Even if we try deviating from The Correct Path Of HaShem , all roads will still end up leading to where HaShem Knows it must go , For HaShem Has many Emissaries in His Creation . In fact , the entire Creation , can end up being His Emissary . From all of Creation , we can learn Of HaShem , It's Creator . No matter how the Reshayim Evil people in this World try and mess up His Plan , HaShem Has Many Ways of counteracting them . This World is not ours . It Belongs To HaShem . HaShem Gives it all to us to use as A Gift . When we stop appreciating that And HaShem's Gift Of Creation and go our own way , away from His Oneness , to foreign ways Chas Ve Shalom , HaShem Has many Emissaries To " Beshalach " - " Send " to bring things back on track . Every Plague That HaShem " Beshalach " - " Sent " Was Sent with a message and That Message Is That HaShem Is G-D , The One And Only and also , the message to let our people go . The Amazing Miracle of the Yam Suf , that split waters , all over the World , at the same time that the Yam Suf Split , even in a glass an Egyptian might have been drinking with at the time , was a World wide Miracle that all at the time knew of . Only Amalek , who also knew of it , was the only nation at the time that derided it and tried to lessen its Beauty . Only Amalek tries to go out of its way to make mundane , All That Is Wonderful And Miraculous From HaShem . This is Amalek's way - the way away from True Faith In HaShem . But it to , is an Emissary , serving a purpose , that when our faith In HaShem gets lost and we stop appreciating HaShem and think we can and try do it all ourselves , Chas Ve Shalom , that we are sent a reminder , that we are nothing without HaShem . At the End of Days , when the whole of Creation will have total faith In HaShem , His Laws , His Torah and His Oneness and His Truth , then there will be no need for Amalek and his Sar Samael and they will cease to exist . But until then , we are to make war with Amalek and their very sentiments , even when they rise up within us , of a lack of Awe In The Almighty HaShem , when their spiritual feelings try and creep in and put down HaShem , His Oneness and His Awesomeness , Chas Ve Shalom . So we are to destroy them from generation to generation , them and their sentiments , where ever we find them ( even if this lack of faith creeps up within us ) . All things in Creation , as Shlomo Ha Melech so wisely put it , are not new , for he said that there is nothing new under the sun . That is true , for even at the beginning of Creation , HaShem Had Already Created the Miracles to take Place against Egypt and at the Yam Suf . HaShem Creates Creation with preparation for every choice anyone can ever make . How Great And Awesome Is His Awesomeness . So HaShem Has Also Created the Time Of The End Of Days , which if we would all and only choose correctly to follow Him And His Torah And His Laws Only , They , The End Of Days , Would Then Come about , for as I mentioned , we and all Creation are His Emissaries and so every time that we are " Beshalach " - " Sent " to be that emissary , we are to be that emissary , which if we do As HaShem Asks And Wants , can help bring in Moshiach , as the Gematriah of the word " Beshalach " links to the Gematriah of the word ' Moshiach , ' thus as emissaries of HaShem , we can all have the ability to bring on the Time of Mashiach , in that " Beshalach " - " Sending " and so , enter forever and eternally into The End Of Days Olam Habah . The choice in each and every moment is ours . HaShem Has Already Created That Choice Of Olam Habah . So let us all be faithful and appreciative to Him , following Him Only and so , let us choose HaShem And His Way Only and then can we all walk into The End Of Days Olam Habah With HaShem HaKadosh Baruch Hu , HaShem The Holy One Blessed Be He . I wish Ever Most Eternally Beloved HaShem With Sweetest And Most Beautiful Forever Love , A Very Special And Very Beautiful Shabbos Kodesh With Deepest Everlasting Love and to all of my fellow Jews and to all of Creation , a Very Special and Very Beautiful Shabbos Kodesh with love .

The Shabbos Parsha is Parashas Bo . In this Parsha , HaShem Continues To Judge Mitzrayim Egypt for its terrible wrongs and this certainly fits in with the Haftorah of this Sedra in Yirmeyahu Jeremiah 46 : 13 - 28 , which shows how at a later time , HaShem Continues To Judge Egypt and its Pharaoh in a later happening . The previous Parsha ended with the Seventh Plague of Hail . This Plague of Hail had destroyed all the crops of Egypt that were above the ground And Now HaShem Sends A Plague To Destroy those parts of the crops that had not , at the time of the Plague of Hail , yet sprouted . So HaShem Sends the Locust Swarm . HaShem Tells Moshe to " Bo " - " Come " to Pharaoh and warn him of the Locust Swarm that will come into Egypt's Border and will cover the surface of the Earth in Egypt , so that it's surface will not be seen . This Locust Swarm will consume the remaining residue left by the Hail and this Locust Swarm will fill the Egyptians' houses in such a swarm that has never been seen before . Many of Pharaoh's officers and servants had realized by now that our G-D Is G-D . They came to Pharaoh pleading with him to let our people go , telling him ' do you not yet know that Egypt is lost . ' Pharaoh , in being so stubborn , had only shown care for his own ego and he , at this juncture , cared only to protect his own pride and honour and so , this left him making illogical decisions based on his own arrogance and he could not even realize reason anymore . Such is arrogance and pride , that loses a person their Given intelligence and wisdom . Pharaoh called Moshe and Aharon , asking them which ones are going for this mentioned ' three day journey ' to make offerings to G-D and Moshe responded so beautifully ' with our youngsters and with our elders shall we go ; with our sons and with our daughters , with our flocks and with our cattle shall we go , because it is a Festival Of HaShem for us . ' A Festival For HaShem , for HaShem Is Not Happy when His beloved people are in bondage And HaShem Really Does Not Like To Punished us , For It Hurts Him more , the same as a Father who loves his child would feel when he has to punish his beloved child . So When HaShem Punishes us , It Is For our own good , as a good Father does . Pharaoh said he would allow us to go with our children and refers to the ' evil intent ' on Moshe and Aharon's faces , in reference to that he Pharaoh , deep down wondered if they would return after the said three days . Evil it was definitely not , but those who are evil , will even see holy and good actions and people , as bad and negative to them and an interference to the real evil people's intent to stop the real evil people's wishes to hurt and destroy the good , as Pharaoh wanted to do with us Jews . How often we see the wrong in others that we ourselves need to fix within ourselves . Pharaoh had an instant change of heart and straight away said that only the men could go , for he said that it is only the men who make offerings and Pharaoh kicked them out of his palace . HaShem Told Moshe to stretch his hand over the land of Egypt and the Locust Swarm would descend upon Egypt . HaShem Here performed an amazing Miracle , for in order for Moshe to be able to stretch his hand over Egypt , a part of Moshe would have had to be high above Egypt , spiritually above Earth And This Is What HaShem Did , Raising a part of Moshe's Neshoma high above Egypt , above the Earth . Oh Blessed Art Thou Beloved HaShem . HaShem Guided an East Wind Through that day and night And the next morning , HaShem Had the East Wind carry the Locust Swarm over all of Egypt , where not even a single patch of Earth in Egypt was left , for the whole land inch by inch , was covered by the Locust Swarm , but only in the borders of Egypt , so again an ancient land border dispute was settled between Egypt and Cush , for only the parts that were in Egypt , were covered by the Locust Swarm . The Land became dark , as dark as the Egyptian's characters , within their lack of holiness and morality . The Swarm ate all the grass of the land of Egypt , where not even a single blade of grass remained in the entire land of Egypt . These Locusts were no ordinary Locusts , for they had claws of lions and teeth of leopards and the strength of bulls . The Locusts ripped out the eyes of the Egyptians and so , decimated Egypt and many of its people . HaShem Sent Locusts as punishment for how the Egyptians used to force Jews to go hunting for Locusts , so the Egyptians could salt and eat them , for this was a delicacy with Egyptians . The Jews found it very hard to bring such things for the Egyptians' food and found it very hard to crawl on their hands and knees in order to catch them , as they were forced to do by the Egyptians . The Jews were also made to work in terrible sand storms that hurt their eyes and we Jews were not allowed to take shelter And So HaShem Sent modified Locusts to rip out the Eyes of these very Egyptians that treated us so cruelly . Pharaoh called for Moshe and Aharon pleading for this Plague of seven kinds of Locust , for seven types of sins the Egyptians committed , to be taken away and so Moshe entreated HaShem And HaShem Turned Back a West wind , to carry the Locust Swarm to the Sea of Reeds ( awaiting the Egyptians , to attack them again , when the Egyptians chased B'nei Yisrael into the Yam Suf Reed Sea ) , for Pharaoh had admitted that he had sinned . Not a single Locust remained in Egypt and even to this day , Locusts are not often found in Egypt . This meant that , in that time after the Plague of Locusts , not a single Locust remained , even under the Earth in Egypt , even down many meters into the ground . Pharaoh again changed his mind and did not let us leave . The Ninth Plague , being the third Plague in this set of three , came without warning , as did every third Plague of set of three Plagues come without a warning to Pharaoh . HaShem Told Moshe to stretch forth his hand toward Heaven and Darkness would be on the Land of Egypt . A Darkness that would be tangible . And so , Moshe obeyed and for the first three days , there was a darkness over Egypt , mild at first , for suddenly it was as if someone had just turned the lights off . The Egyptians were still able to light lights like we would light candles and were somehow able to find their way , but then suddenly a very thick darkness set in that was like a wall all around each Egyptian person so that they could not even move or get up or sit , depending on where they were and in what position they were when it started . This heavy darkness , is the one referred to , for the three day period that Torah Mentions . Even the Star Light went dark over Egypt and no matter how the Egyptians tried to light fire lights , they would not work . This too, was a strike against the Egyptian's belief in astrology that they relied upon , to keep hurting us , for to the Egyptians during this Plague , even the stars were not visible to them . The Darkness descended only over Egypt . Goshen had Light and the Egyptians were shown visions of how the Jews came into the Egyptians' houses , to check exactly where they hid their valuables , that would be pay for all the years of our bondage , when we Jews , our people The Children Of Israel left Egypt and so that the Egyptians would not be able to lie and say that they had nothing , for now we knew exactly where their things were kept , but we never took anything then during this Plague Of Darkness and only when we left Egypt , did the Egyptians themselves give us their valuables . This Plague of Darkness was a very direct suggestion to the Egyptians that we were of Light Spiritually From HaShem The One And Only True G-D And Creator and that they , the Egyptians , were unholy immoral darkness . For three days , the Egyptians had no Sun this really hit at them , For HaShem Had Now Showed them that their fake false idol worship deity 'ra' was nothing but false idol worship And Only HaShem Is In Control of And Creates all , in Creation . This Plague was a punishment at the Egyptians , who turned our days around to night , by making us work at night instead of day and when day came , they made us work again saying that this would be our night and pain and hurt and that we would never see the light of day and that we would be killed like darkness Chas Ve Shalom , So HaShem Turned their days and nights Around And Put the Egyptians in total darkness . Our Rabbis Say That HaShem Brought the darkness from the beginning of Creation And put it on Egypt . The Egyptians could not even move and had to stay in one place , for as I mentioned , the Darkness was like a thick hard wall , where no Light entered . Some of our people sadly perished too in this Plague , those that supported Egypt and that did not want to leave and did not want G-D at all , but they were not seen dying , As HaShem Specially took their lives in the Darkness , so as to keep it from the Egyptians . After the three days , Pharaoh had Moshe summoned and told him that we could go , but our flocks and cattle had to remain . Moshe informed him that we must offer the lamb , which is a false deity of Egypt and so we need to take our flocks and cattle with us too . Pharaoh's heart hardened and he flew into a rage and he threatened Moshe that Moshe should not see his face again for on the day he does , he would surely die Chas Ve Shalom . Moshe , now angry , responded in saying " you have spoken correctly , I shall never see your face again . " Moshe told Pharaoh that Pharaoh and his servants would come looking for Moshe and beg us to leave quickly . In order to keep Moshe's word , HaShem for the first time , Appeared to Moshe in the palace and warned of the Tenth and final Plague after which , Pharaoh would let us Jews go And This Plague Would Be The Slaying of the First born of Egypt . Ten Plagues , for Pharaoh ( who falsely claimed that he was allegedly deified , but of course never was , for Only HaShem Is G-D ) had not acknowledged HaShem Who Created Creation With Ten Pronouncements . Moshe related HaShem's Words of this final Plague to Pharaoh . Then Moshe turned his back on Pharaoh and left the Palace . How Beautiful It Was How HaShem Protected Moshe And Aharon every time they went to Pharaoh . HaShem Then Gave Moshe Instructions on what to do with the lamb , the false deity of Egypt , to tie it to the bedpost for four days and then slaughter it and its blood to be put on the Lintel and two door posts and so became our Holy Passover , our Freeing from Mitzrayim and all its Tum'a Impure unHoly ways . HaShem Told Moshe How the Plague of Slaying of the First Born would happen at midnight , a time dogs in Egypt would bark and so , the Torah's comment in Shemos 11 : 7 was in reference to the dogs that also pulled up the dead Egyptians' first borns' bones , during the Tenth Plague . HaShem Then Gave us The Commandment of fixing the time for Rosh Chodesh , the New Moon , something HaShem Had Previously Done Himself , but would now give us this Mitzvah and this was the first Mitzvah we were given here at this time . HaShem Showed Moshe exactly how the New Moon would look and so , would the Sanhedrin be in charge of fixing this time of the New Moon , through the ages . HaShem Instructed on the Laws of the Paschal Lamb , cautioning us to remember this through the ages , with bitter herbs and Matzos unleavened bread , which when we left Egypt Mitzrayim and did not have time for the bread to rise , the Matzos on that first Passover night was so precious to us that we showed this , by us putting the valuables on our donkeys , but the wrapped up Matzos , we kept and carried on our shoulders . The Korban Pesach was to be roasted , so that it's smell , would hit the noses of the Egyptians so that they would pain over their false lamb deity . So many other false ways and beliefs proclaim a lamb or lamb symbolism as a false deity . HaShem Is The One And Only True Creator And G-D . HaShem , during this time , Took us , His Legions out of Egypt , which included our People and his Angels that were there too . At Midnight , HaShem Came Down with thousands of Destroying Angels And HaShem Smote every firstborn in Egypt and even an Egyptian abroad , in other places and countries . None escaped and seeing that the Egyptians were an immoral people , they had many first-borns out of wedlock, so every single Egyptian house , had dead Egyptians . Hiding in Goshen did not help the Egyptians at all , for they died where they stood . Even the heads of households in Egypt died . Here Was HaShem's Punishment For what the Egyptians had done to our First Borns and for Pharaoh bathing in the blood of Jewish children 150 Jewish children's blood in the morning and 150 Jewish children's blood at night for seven days . HaShem Destroyed all the idols , where metal ones melted and wooden ones rotted instantly . There was an elderly Egyptian woman who mocked Moshe's words when Moshe had left Pharaoh's Palace after relaying about this Plague to Pharaoh and she said that she did not even have anymore first-borns , so this Plague would not touch her . Moshe warned her and about her acts of mockery , that she would suffer first for her happiness at our pain and mockery and so , when the Plague first started , her dead son was dug up by dogs and brought to her doorstep . The Egyptians were a very low spiritual race of people , being on the lowest in levels of Tum'a Impurity and negativity at the time . This elderly Egyptian woman and her son when he was alive , had molested little Jewish children . The Destructive Angels would not discriminate between Jew and Egyptian And So HaShem Had Instructed That we mark our doors . It was also to test our obedience , For HaShem Knew who was and was not a Jew . The Destructive Angels , when let loose , are quite prepared to kill indiscriminately and they can view a person's behaviour for that person's amount of sins which they can see on a person's forehead and who is without sin . So HaShem Really Protected His People that night and even those of our people that were ordained to pass away , Were Spared By HaShem . Pharaoh being a first-born , was kept alive to witness the Splitting of the Yam Suf Reed Sea . Pharaoh , fearing for his own very life , got a chariot and rode with servants in a hurry to Goshen , for his own son had also died arrogantly sitting on his very throne and in arriving in Goshen , asked for where the home of Moshe ben Amram was . He was shown this way and that until he finally arrived at Moshe's home . He called to Moshe to come out , but Moshe told him That HaShem Had Instructed them not to leave the homes till morning and he asked Moshe to at least open the door to him , which Moshe denied , for Moshe would not break his word not to see Pharaoh again and so Pharaoh begged Moshe to at least come to the window , which Moshe did , but kept well back so their eyes never met . Pharaoh told Moshe to have us leave immediately for Egypt was dying , but Moshe told him that we could not leave till morning for we had been instructed to stay in our homes till morning . Pharaoh begged Moshe asking Moshe how this Plague could be stopped and Moshe told him that he must call out in Goshen that we Jews are free to leave . Pharaoh did this and his voice was made louder so all could hear , even throughout Egypt was Pharaoh's voice magnified By HaShem and Pharaoh even went from house to house knocking on doors telling Jews they were free . Two Hundred and Ten years did we spend in slavery in Egypt , the exact Gematrical value of the Hebrew word " R'du " in Bereishis 42 : 2 , where Yaakov tells his sons to " Go down " to Egypt . The Egyptians Were , By HaShem , Made to look upon us with favour and gave us their valuables before we left Egypt . While that was happening , Moshe was busy on a different task . The finding of Yosef's coffin . For this task , Moshe asked Serach bas Asher , who had been given extra years of life after she was the one to play a role in reviving her grandfather Yaakov with the news of Yosef still being alive in Egypt by going into Yaakov's Tent and singing softly to Yaakov , so as not to shock him , about Yosef still being alive , when the other brothers had come back from Yosef , to bring their holy Father Yaakov to reunite with Yosef . She told Moshe that Yosef's coffin had been sunk into the Nile . Moshe went to the exact place on the banks of the Nile that she had pointed out and called to Yosef to arise and float up , but nothing happened . Our Rabbis say that either Moshe took Yosef's silver Goblet and wrote on that or that Moshe took a piece of Parchment , on which he wrote or drew four creatures , an eagle , a human , a lion and a bull , and only when the human was mentioned , did Yosef's coffin rise up , so we could fulfil our promise to carry Yosef out of Egypt . This scroll or cup pieces was later found by a young man called Micha , who went along when we Jews left Egypt . At the later very sad incident of the Chait Ha Eigel , The Golden Calf , it was this very Micha , who took this parchment with the words for bull , written on this parchment and he threw it into the fire , when the bull calf idol came out of the furnace , at the golden calf incident . This Micha was one of the babies set to be put by Pharaoh into the wall as bricks and Moshe asked that he be saved . HaShem Knew what this Micha would do . HaShem Knows all . HaShem Always Knows Best . HaShem Sanctified every First - Born and Instructed us to Remember the Exodus from Egypt . HaShem Instructed us to tell our children of this and of How HaShem Took us Out From the bondage From Mitzrayim , And Brought us Home . The Parsha ends , With HaShem Telling us Of Tefillin And How HaShem Removed us With A Strong Hand . So ends the Parsha . HaShem Asks Moshe to " Bo " - " Come " to Pharaoh , For HaShem Is Most Humble And HaShem Praised Moshe ( who was very humble ) , for his humility And HaShem Wants us all to be humble . HaShem Does Not Tell Moshe to " Go to Pharaoh , " But Rather Uses a more humble quiet peaceful word " Bo " - " Come . " So does HaShem Want us to be . HaShem Does not Thrust Himself Upon us , But Comes To us Nicely And Sweetly , Gently And Softly And With Loving Peace . How Does HaShem Come To us This Way . With Sweet Soft Love And Peace . With All HaShem's Beautiful Creation That HaShem Makes - The Soft petals of the flowers that look up to us And With HaShem's Love , beautify our World Of HaShem - With the sweet voice of our children that HaShem Gives us - With the Beautiful World around us That HaShem Makes For us every day For us to see - With the loving friends and family that we have That HaShem Gives us - With The Tender Moments That HaShem Gives us With our partners every day and The Wonder Of Creation That HaShem Made And Continues To Make , all these and so much more , Does HaShem Quietly Give us To Enjoy , But Ever So Humbly , Without HaShem Showing Himself for even as much as a thank you . So does HaShem " Bo " - " Come " to us every day , if we would only just open our eyes and heart and look deeper . So should we all " Bo " - " Come " to HaShem , every minute That HaShem Gives us life , Coming to HaShem in total obedience and love , humbly following HaShem in total obedience to HaShem's Torah . HaShem Asks of us so little and the little That HaShem Asks of us , is for our own benefit . Surely we can do this . Surely we can give of ourselves for and to HaShem , As HaShem Gives us the whole of Creation , Just For us To enjoy . All things Belong To HaShem . So must we therefore follow HaShem's Laws in Creation and with all humility and love and obedience , " Bo " - " Come " to HaShem In Love , Just As HaShem " Bo " - " Comes " To us every day , every moment , every instant , With Life And Love And Creation . May we all follow HaShem humbly , in obedience and so , open up the door to Olam Habah and Shamayim And So Will HaShem HaKadosh Baruch Hu The Holy One Blessed Be He " Bo " - " Come " To us More Closely With Love . I wish Ever Most Eternally Beloved HaShem With Forever Everlasting Love , A Very Special And Sweet And Beautiful Shabbos Kodesh With Forever Love and to all of my fellow Jews and to all of HaShem's Beautiful Creation , a Very Special , Sweet and Beautiful Shabbos Kodesh with love .

Our Parsha this Shabbos is Parashas Va'eira . In this Sedra , HaShem Sends Plagues To Egypt , Revealing Himself As The One And Only True G-D And Creator , To the Egyptians and the World . The Haftorah for this Parsha is Yechezkiel Ezekiel 28 : 25 - 29 : 21 and just like in the Parsha , HaShem Starts out the Haftorah With How He Will Take us Jews Out From the other nations and how we will dwell securely , within our own Home Eretz Yisrael . The Sedra starts with Elokim Speaking to Moshe And Telling him That He " Va'eira , " - " Appeared " To Avraham And To Yitzchak And To Yaakov as El Shaddai , where " Dai , " means " Sufficient , " Where HaShem Created Creation with limits of that Creation , by the Laws of Nature and how far those Laws extend , But Now That HaShem Was Going To Show Mercy To His Jewish People , He Would Now Extend those normal Laws of Nature , Revealing His Magnificence And Showing all , That He Is The One And Only True Creator , which is also an act of mercy , for it gives the people the opportunity to come on to the right path and Follow Him , for their own Good and so , " Ad-nai - HaShem , " refers now to HaShem's Attribute Of Mercy , Which HaShem Would Now Make Himself Known As , By Extending Beyond the Laws and Limits of The Nature That HaShem Created , Through the Wonders of The Plagues That HaShem Would Perform . HaShem Here In Shemos Exodus 6 : 6 - 7 Refers To Four Specific Actions That HaShem Will Do For us Jews , " I Shall Take you out ; I Shall Rescue you ; I Shall Redeem you ; I Shall Take you to Me as a people " and so , on Pesach night at the Seder , we thus have four cups of Wine . In the next verse , HaShem Tells us That , " I Shall Bring ... and I Shall Give " and this fifth pronouncement , some say is commemorated at the Pesach Seder by the other cup of wine for Eliyahu Ha Navi , where we look toward the Messianic Era , where we will live safely in our own Land of Israel ( also mentioned in this next verse I refer to ) . HaShem Tells Moshe to " Come " speak to Pharaoh to send the Children of Israel from his land . The word " Come " is used and not " Go , " for Pharaoh is still a king and must be respected as such , with politeness and not aggressive orders . The family line is then given of Moshe and Aharon , back to the Tribe of Levi , showing their genuineness and worthiness of the positions That HaShem Gives them , being descended from this holy line . Aharon married Elisheva Bas Amminadav , sister of Nahshon , from the kingly Tribe of Yehudah . Torah also Tells us that one of Aharon's four sons Elazar married a daughter of Putiel ( which Ramban refers to as being either Yisro or Yosef ) and this union brought a very holy son called Pinchas , who was the only one That HaShem Made a Kohein by his holy actions , due to his own actions of standing up for The Honour Of HaShem and also for the honour of his teacher Moshe , in the Book of Bamidbar Numbers . Moshe was 80 years of age and his brother Aharon was 83 years of age , when they went unto Pharaoh and asked him to let our Jewish people go . Moshe gave Aharon his staff and Aharon cast down the staff before Pharaoh and Pharaoh's servants And HaShem Turned it into a snake . Pharaoh mocked them and told them that they are charlatans that come to a place of magic and perform and try and sell their magic in a place where magic abounds and that he would not be taken in by tricks . Moshe responded that it is exactly for that reason that they perform By HaShem such an action , for the Egyptians would thus be able to appreciate it . Pharaoh called his wise men and they did likewise . Aharon's snake ate up the others . Bilaam was present that day and mocked Moshe , saying that such an action is not such a great feat and if they really would want to show how good they are , let them have their staff consume the other staffs and so , Aharon again threw the staff down and Moshe's staff ate up the other staffs , as a staff and this is why The Holy Torah says that Aharon's staff swallowed their staffs in Shemos Exodus 7:12 , but Pharaoh's heart was stubborn and he did not heed HaShem . Every morning , Pharaoh would go down to the Nile to bathe , in order to try secretly rid himself of the Leprosy That HaShem Had Punished him with , for his idol worship of himself . He went early so that no one would know , for he did not want others to know that he might need the waters of the Nile to cleanse him , for he had told everyone that he himself had created the Nile . So HaShem Told Moshe to meet him there the next morning and again tell him to let the people go . Each Plague That HaShem Sent , was in sets of three , where in each set of three , only for the first two would Pharaoh get a warning and the third one would come with no warning to Pharaoh . Also , our Rabbonim tell us that the warnings would be for three weeks and each plague lasted a week . No matter how Pharaoh would order his men not to let Moshe and Aharon in , they would somehow , With The Help Of HaShem , still get in to speak to Pharaoh . So Moshe was there waiting for Pharaoh when he arrived and Pharaoh scolded Moshe for disturbing him , for Pharaoh wanted to enter the River with nothing on and told Moshe to wait until he had finished bathing , which Moshe politely did . HaShem Commanded Moshe to hand the staff to Aharon , to start this Plague , for Moshe felt that he should not smite a River that protected him as a baby , when he was in the basket and so Aharon stretched out the staff and struck the water in the presence of Pharaoh and his servants , who by now had come to attend to Pharaoh and all the water turned to blood . It is however interesting , that Aharon was not told to strike the water , but to stretch out his hand over the waters of Egypt , so as did Moshe later on do , even though Moshe was commanded not to , Aharon here struck the water in front of Pharaoh and Pharaoh's servants . This first Plague , was a punishment for the Jewish babies that were thrown into this very Nile and also for the Jewish children that this Pharaoh slaughtered ( 150 Jewish children in the morning and 150 Jewish children at night for seven nights ) , for his bath that Pharaoh tried to use to rid himself of the leprosy . Also , the Egyptians made the Jews serve with rigor and the taskmasters beat them mercilessly , so their sweat congealed with their blood that dropped onto the floor , in slavery . The entire Land of Egypt stank , as the Egyptians used to mock the smell of the Jews with the smell of the brick pits . Stones and Wood , even in Pharaoh's Palace bled blood as did every drop of water become Blood to every Egyptian . Even the sweat of the Egyptians was blood as well as when they would go and do their natural habits of ablution . But the Jews had clean and pure water . If an Egyptian came to Goshen and took water , as soon as it touched his or her hand , it instantly became blood . Even the saliva in the mouth of the Egyptians and their urine became blood . If their eyes watered , it became blood . Their very sweat was tainted with blood . Only if the Egyptians came to buy water from us , did it remain water . The Chartumim - Necromancers of Egypt were also , through their powers of Tum'a Impurity , able to turn small amounts of water into blood and so Pharaoh's heart hardened . The Necromancers - Chartumim were totally impure . We see this within the Hebrew word for them for , within the word " Chartumim ," is the word " Tamei " - " Impure . " Egypt's disputes of border with Ethiopia were now settled , for though the River Nile was a long river going through Africa , only the part that was in Egypt , turned Red with Blood . HaShem Sent Moshe to Pharaoh to tell him to let us go and serve HaShem , for should he refuse , HaShem Would Send Frogs Throughout the boundary of Egypt . This Plague also made it quite clear to Egypt , what was their boundary , for only in Egypt Mitzrayim Did the Plague of Frogs hit , Mitzrayim so called for the word Mitzrayim meant borders , for Egypt was very strict about its borders and who could come and go . The word " Frog " - " Tzefardeah " ( which means ' to fit in ' ) named by Adam Ha Rishon , was as prophetic as all his naming of the animals , for he foresaw that the Frogs would one day ' fit in ' to the ovens and bodies of the Egyptians , For HaShem's Sake . This Plague was a punishment to the Egyptians , who used to make the Jews collect all kinds of hideous and dangerous creatures , some far away , so that our Jewish men would be kept away from their wives in an attempt to stop our growth and so , Frogs en masse growth , descended upon Egypt . Again HaShem Said To Moshe that Aharon was to stretch his hand with the staff over the Rivers and canals and reservoirs and so , raise up frogs over the land of Egypt . This time , Aharon did exactly that . This too was a punishment from throwing our Jewish babies into the River . As soon as this was done , HaShem Caused to come out of the River a single massive Frog . We see this in Torah in Shemos 8 : 2 , where the word Frog here is in the singular . This particular monstrous Frog , obviously had a mission in mind , for it started to walk up directly toward Pharaoh's Palace . The Egyptians came out with sticks and started to try and hit it . Some of the Egyptians that were trying to strike it , this massive monstrous frog ate and others it killed and with every blow struck on it , millions of Frogs came out of its mouth . These Frogs attacked Egypt , going into everything . The Egyptians tried to close up and board up their homes , but to no avail , as the Frogs came up through the floor boards . This was a terrible Plague . The Frogs continued to croak and go into the Egyptians' food and even into their bodies , not giving them a moment's rest , just as the Egyptians had not given us a moment's rest in slavery to breathe . The Frogs even went into their beds and bit at the Egyptians from outside and inside their bodies , even castrating the men - a punishment for the Egyptians trying to stop us having children . The Frogs Croaked from within their bodies and were only prepared to leave When HaShem Would Have Moshe remove them . Some of the Frogs put their own lives in danger by jumping into the ovens and those Frogs were saved . The Necromancers of Egypt were also able to bring up a few Frogs , but could not remove them . Each time the Egyptians hit the Frogs , hundreds of others would appear in their place . Some of the frogs were poisonous and so , when touching an Egyptian's skin , that Egyptian would die . This , HaShem Reserved For the very cruel taskmasters who beat us mercilessly . Pharaoh called Moshe and Aharon , begging that the Frogs be removed . Moshe asked Pharaoh when he wanted them removed and he answered trying to trick Moshe , thinking the Plague would be expected by Pharaoh to be removed the same day , so Pharaoh said " Tomorrow " and so it was , thus making the Egyptians all suffer an extra day . An evil arrogant man's pride is his own undoing By HaShem . Moshe did not do this Plague either for again the Nile that had covered him Through HaShem , had helped save him . Moshe and Aharon left Pharaoh's presence and entreated HaShem and the following day , the Frogs died and were piled up , four heaps ( some say ten ) to a household . Those frogs that had jumped into the ovens for HaShem's Sake , survived and returned to the River . The land stank from the dead Frogs as a punishment to the Egyptian's complaints and mocking the Jews for the smell of them from the brick pits . Pharaoh again hardened his heart . So up until the fifth Plague , HaShem Still Gave Pharaoh an opportunity to repent and stop this , but Pharaoh did not and so , that is why the more Pharaoh changed his mind and hardened his own heart , the more HaShem Gave him the hard heart he kept choosing , but Pharaoh at all times still could choose to let us go . The next and Third Plague came with no warning and this Plague also Aharon and not Moshe did , for it included the very dust that had tried to help protect Moshe , when he had killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand and the dust and sand had helped to try cover his action . So HaShem said To Moshe to have Aharon stretch out Moshe's staff and strike the dust of the land and it would become lice in Egypt on man and beast . This was a punishment for the Egyptians that used to make the Jews sweep dust in Egypt , a never ending pointless task . Also , the Jews in the slave pits were not permitted to wash and so , contracted lice and this was a return attack back on the Egyptians . The Lice never stopped biting and so the Egyptians cried out in pain . They could not even rest . Exactly what they did to us Jews , So Did HaShem Do To Them As HaShem Will Do To all those that hurt our Jewish people through time . No crime against Jews Will go unpunished in the end . HaShem Sees all and before the End Of Days , all those that hurt Jews through the ages will not escape punishment . The Plague of Lice stopped us from being slaves , for their was no sand to make bricks , only lice . This is also why Yaakov did not want to be buried in Egypt , as the dust around there was to become Lice . Pharaoh called his Chartumim , but they could not do this , making dust into lice , for their negative Tum'a powers do not hold strength against anything smaller than a barley-corn and so these necromancers had to admit defeat and say " This is the Finger of G-D . " HaShem Is All Knowing And All Seeing And Almighty . HaShem Is One . So Was HaShem Revealed To them and they had to acknowledge that our G-D , Is The One And Only True G-D . Evil magic has no power over such a small thing as dust , for as it says in the Gemorrah , that the smallest size that can contract Tum'a is a barley-corn , so their Tum'a - Impurity , would not work on it . Again , Pharaoh wanted it stopped , but again he hardened his heart . Pharaoh thought that if he went earlier to the water , he could avoid Moshe , But HaShem Had Moshe be there earlier , to again ask for us to leave , warning Pharaoh of the fourth Plague of Wild Beasts . Again another Plague that would only affect Egyptians , while we were left alone . HaShem Sent a swarm of wild beasts upon Egypt . And Egypt and its people were completely under attack . If we look carefully at Shemos Exodus 8:17 , it says clearly That HaShem Sent the swarm of Wild beasts and also " and even the ground upon which they are . " This meant That HaShem Did Not Only Send Wild Beasts , But Actually Uprooted entire forests , the place where the wild beasts lived And Miraculously Dropped it On Egypt , so the Egyptian homes suddenly found themselves in the midst of a forest of wild beasts that attacked and killed them at every opportunity , as the Egyptians had done to us . This was a punishment Middah K'negged Middah , for the Egyptians sending us to far away lands to catch wild dangerous animals , thus keeping us away from our wives and putting us in the position to be killed , wanting to try to stop our growth . No matter where the Egyptians hid , it did not help , for even sea creatures and Octopi and giant squids came out of the water , climbed up on their roofs and pulled up their roof coverings . If Egyptians walked with their babies next to a Jew , the Jew was left alone , while a wolf would come and take one of their babies and a bear , would grab the other . Pharaoh summoned Moshe and Aharon and begged for the Wild Beasts to be removed , saying we could bring offerings to HaShem , but only in Egypt . Moshe told him that we will offer the sheep that Egypt worships and the Egyptians would stone us . So Pharaoh said we could go , but not far off . Moshe prayed to HaShem that the Swarm be removed , but as soon as it was , Pharaoh again hardened his heart . HaShem Sent Moshe To Pharaoh to warn of the Fifth Plague as an Epidemic that would hit the animals of the Egyptians , a punishment for the Egyptians not allowing us to tend our own flocks and for trying to steal our livestock , as they would graze some of their livestock near ours in Goshen . Now there would be no doubt whose was whose . This Epidemic would hit the livestock in the fields . But ours would be unharmed . And so , the next day , the Epidemic hit and killed the Egyptian's livestock . Again , when this was removed , Pharaoh's heart hardened . So the Sixth Plague came without warning . HaShem Had Moshe and Aharon each take handfuls of furnace soot in their two hands . Miraculously , Moshe would then hold his own two and Aharon's two handfuls in his one hand and throw it so high that it would go up to Heaven , leaving the Earth's Atmosphere ( a miracle , for soot cannot be thrown high at all ) and it would turn all the dust , before Pharaoh , into boils , the Sixth Plague . These boils were unlike anything that had ever hit anyone , for inside they were soft and outside they were crusty , so that no matter what the Egyptians put on them as a salve , it never helped , for what would soften the crusty part , added to the wetness inside and what would harden the wetness inside , would harden the crusty part even more , thus causing them more pain and discomfort . The Egyptians were known , at the time for their permanent make - up techniques , far more modern than other nations , which they would then use as a way to idol worship , so here , HaShem Was Ruining the very skin they tried so hard to fashion , for their idol worship , the very skin they thanked their idol deities for , their natural skin That HaShem Alone As The One And Only Creator Had Created . The Egyptians that prided themselves arrogantly on their medical know - how , now had to admit that their knowledge was of no use , for they had no idea how to cure themselves of this Plague . Only HaShem Is The True Healer . The Egyptians could not even stand and so , this was punishment for them making us wait on them and standing all the time , never letting us rest and never letting us even stop to scratch an itch . The Necromancers were so hit by the Plague that they could not even stand before Pharaoh and so , they all died in this Plague and were never mentioned again in The Holy Torah . It was also the necromancers of Egypt that had also advised Pharaoh to throw the Jewish boys into the Nile to try to stop the coming of Moshe . Again when this Plague was removed , Pharaoh hardened his heart . HaShem Asked Moshe to " Come to Pharaoh " much earlier , so Pharaoh could not avoid it , no matter how much or how early Pharaoh tried . Moshe pointed to Pharaoh's sundial and made a mark on it that at that exact time the next day , HaShem Would Send a very heavy Hail against Egypt and warned them to take their Livestock under shelter . Those that did , were saved . HaShem Instructed Moshe to stretch his hand toward Heaven And So Did HaShem Send the Seventh Plague of Hail at the exact moment that Moshe had marked on the sundial . This was no ordinary Hail . Such a Hail had never been before . Each block of Hail was massive , four - hands full large . The bottom of the Hail , was pure hard ice and the middle was Ice in which its centre was fire and the top of each Hail stone was pure fire , each one sharp as a razor , that cut down trees and people that were outside . Everything that was outside was struck and died . Only the Jews in Goshen were safe . Even if an Egyptian tried to hide among Jews in Goshen , as they had done in the past , when they tried to catch out the Jewish Mothers giving birth , so as to kill our babies , in the previous Pharaoh's time , the Hail Miraculously appeared in the houses and sliced the Egyptians to pieces , but the Jews were left unharmed . Here , two opposing forces of Fire and Ice were coming together to work together For The Sake Of HaShem . Pharaoh sent for Moshe and Aharon and he finally admitted his sin and that HaShem Is The Righteous One and that he and his people are wicked . Pharaoh begged Moshe to entreat HaShem To Have the Hail Removed . Moshe mentioned that he would leave the city to pray to HaShem , for the city was filled with idols and was certainly not a pure place to pray to HaShem , for the Hail to be halted . Our Rabbis tell us that Moshe had actually built a little hut just outside the city , where he would go to pray and this little hut place , in our day's time was actually made into a little Synagogue . So Moshe went out of the city to entreat HaShem and as soon as he stretched out his hands , the Hail stopped . Even the Hail on its way down , was suspended in mid air and never fell . Some of this Hail actually fell on our enemies later on in history and the rest will fall on Gog and Magog At The End Of Days . As soon as Pharaoh saw it had stopped , his heart became strong and stubborn again and he did not send out the Children of Israel , As HaShem Had Told Moshe that he would do And so Does HaShem , If He Sees a person refuses to veer from the evil and wrong path , after giving them many opportunities to do so , eventually Let's them carry on in that path and so bring themselves down . So ends the Parsha . This Parsha is so aptly named " Va'eira " - " Appeared , " For HaShem Shows Himself Through His Wonders That He Performed Here . In HaShem " Va'eira " - " Appearing , " so will we Fear Him . The word " Fear " - " Yarei " in Hebrew is within the word " Va'eira " for we are to Fear HaShem and Obey Him Always . Before these Plagues , HaShem Was Known As " El Shadai " For He Had Set Limits on Nature In His Creation . Here , HaShem Went Beyond those limits , In Making Nature do and act in ways it never does And So , HaShem In His Mercy For His People , Would Now Also Be Known As " HaShem Ad-nai " Who Goes Beyond Those Limits He Sets As Rules For Nature , In Order To Save us . How can we not Fear His Awesomeness And Power Beyond Power Beyond Power . Within this " Va'eira " is the Word " Ohr " - " Light , " For HaShem Fills His Creation With His Light , Especially When He " Va'eira " - " Appears " And Even When HaShem Hides Himself , we are to do His Mitzvos and Follow His Torah and thus release His Holy Sparks of " Ohr " - " Light " and Thus Reveal Him , Having Him " Va'eira " - " Appear " to us In Love . The word " Va'eira " comes to 208 in Gematriah , which adds up to 10 , The Number Of Pronouncements That HaShem Made In Creating Creation And The Number Of Commandments At Har Sinai . So Each Time HaShem " Va'eira " - " Appears " And Reveals Himself To us , Whether It Be In The Form Of Tests , Or An Actual Vision , Or Even His Beautiful Soft Voice Talking To us From within , we are to Let His Light Come Out of us and know That He Loves us And Has Taken The Time to Show us Something . So must we look deeper within each happening and know that we are here to serve HaShem , not just ourselves . HaShem Does Nothing for Himself . All That our Beloved HaShem Does And Creates , Is Purely For And With His Love For us . So When HaShem Reveals Himself To us , we need to listen . The pathway to HaShem , is through His Holy Torah In Which He Reveals Himself . HaShem Reveals Himself To us Within Every Holy Word Of His Holy Torah , if we only learn It and look deeper into every Word Of His Holy Torah . This is one of the reasons That HaShem Wants us to Learn Torah , For In Revealing Himself Within Each Holy Torah Word , HaShem Is Thus " Va'eira " - " Appearing " To us And So Is He Thus Coming Closer To us , For HaShem Wants A Closer Relationship With each and every one of us That HaShem Created . The Holy Torah Is Also For us to climb higher Spiritually and better ourselves and grow and The Holy Torah brings us closer to HaShem . When we listen , HaShem " Va'eira " - " Appears " to us With Love In So Many Ways . So HaShem's " Va'eira " - " Appearing " as I mentioned , is like the Beauty of HaShem's Creation and also the Giving of HaShem's Ten Commandments and so , the way to heal the wrongs we have done and for us to put Creation back from where we took it from and from where it was heading , is to Keep those very Commandments and all of HaShem's Holy Torah Revelation to us and then we can await HaShem's Long- Awaited " Va'eira " - " Appearance " Within The End Of Days Of Olam Habah With HaShem's Love . May The End Of Days Come Soon In our days And Then Will HaShem " Va'eira " - " Appear And Reveal " His Sweet And Beautiful Glory To us that we so lost and that we so need , as we had in Gan Eiden . Our Shabbos Parsha is Parashas Shemos which starts out The Second Book Of The Holy Torah , the Book of Shemos Exodus . This Beautiful Holy Book of Shemos introduces us to a most holy and most humble beloved Prophet Moshe Rabbeinu . This Sedra's Haftorah for Ashkenazim is Yeshayahu Isaiah 27 : 6 - 28 : 13 ; 29 : 22 - 23 and speaks of the increase of Israel as a holy nation , descended from our holy Fore-Father Yaakov and how in this Parsha , our holy Jewish Nation became a "Shemos " - " Name " and the Haftorah for Sephardim is Yirmeyahu 1 : 1 - 2 : 3 , for Yirmeyahu was also a prophet Called By HaShem as Moshe was called . I would really like to take this opportunity to thank Beloved HaShem for Giving me what to write in my Parsha writing every week and this week . Thank You my Beloved HaShem . Yosef had become ruler in Egypt after Pharaoh had passed away . Yosef and his brothers passed away , the last of the brothers to pass away from that generation was Levi and after they passed away , our people stopped being so careful not to mix with the Egyptian way of life , attending their functions and being less careful to shun their idols , wearing their finery and jewelry , no matter what it's pagan connotation . Though we kept our Jewish names there ( also one of the points to why this Parsha is called " Shemos - " Names " for that was a big point where we did not mix with Egyptians in this specific way , by keeping our Hebrew Names ) , some of our people mixed too closely with Egyptian society and started to forget our holy Jewish Traditions , sadly like what has happened today in our times , where today it is not realized how the use of some secular words and pagan festivals and their words are unfortunately so easily used in every day conversation , or when others have their festivals that have origins in pagan Avodah Zorah , such is Not Allowed By The Laws Of G-D Directly ( Leviticus 19 : 26 ; 20 : 23 ; 18 : 3 and 19 : 27 ; Deuteronomy 12 : 30 ; 14 : 2 ) . The Tribe of Levi though remained faithful to HaShem and did not assimilate and so , Were Rewarded By HaShem , by not being included in the forced slavery labour in Egypt . HaShem Caused a Miracle To Take Place , that the Jewish People were Blessed to become very fruitful , teeming and increasing greatly in the land , being very physically strong , some families having sextuplets . After Yosef passed away , a new King Pharaoh ( believed to have been king Seti ) was appointed over Egypt , " New " in the form of one who did not remain faithful to the assistance That HaShem Had Given Through Yosef , in saving the country from the Famine and noticing the increase of our people , called his advisors , for the Egyptian hierarchy constantly spoke to him of their concern that the Canaanites might attack them and want their money back that they paid for the grain during the years of famine and seeing that the Jews were from Canaan , the Egyptians feared that we would join the Canaanites and attack Egypt , for Canaan was on one side of Egypt , while we Jews in Goshen , were on the other and some of the Egyptians feared that they would be stuck in the middle . Of course this fear was unfounded and this Pharaoh tried at first to remind them that it was Yosef , a member of the Jewish people , who had helped them , but the elite of Egypt would hear nothing of it and they ousted this Pharaoh and for three months , Egypt sat without a head ruler . The pressure put on this Pharaoh caused him to change his mind and after the three months , he again ascended the throne , with new ideals and thus was he also called " a new Pharaoh " who did not know The Good That HaShem Had Done Through Yosef and our people , this Pharaoh was now pro Egypt and Anti - Jewish so he that he could keep his position . Bilaam ( Lot's grandson and terrible enemy of the Jews ) , was at the time , one of the advisors to Pharaoh , who pushed the hatred of the Jews to even higher levels , ensuring that Pharaoh institute new decrees against the Jews , like forbidding Circumcision . They devised a plan to halt the increase of Jews being born and the idea was to separate man and wife , by putting men to hard labour day and night . But this did not happen straight away . Pharaoh and Bilaam and the advisors were crafty and deceitful and at first , made the call up to work , like a big mission for the country , as if to pay the country a great service , advertising a new work project for people to volunteer for and pay was offered . It was made to appear very lucrative and Egyptians came streaming in to join . Egyptians were told to tell their Jewish neighbours that Egypt had been very good to them and so they too should show their gratitude by volunteering . To make it look even more like a very important task , Pharaoh himself appeared at the work site with spade in hand and showed how he too would dig and work for this important project . But the Egyptians were deceitful and so , the places chosen for the project , Pithom and Raamses , were places full of swampy ground , where no building project at the time could possibly succeed or ever get finished and thus , any attempt to build there , would never end , for building structures would constantly topple and fall and thus more hard labour would be put on the Jews . Pharaoh carried on with this supposed mock project for a month , where Egyptians would still come and partake , but suddenly after the first month , every day , there would be fewer Egyptians , until , only Jews were left working . Suddenly pay for the tasks ended and new task-masters were appointed to oversee that the Jews could not leave and had to continue working , or be severely whipped , should they even stop for a breather break . The following day , the Jews tried not to go , but Pharaoh sent forces to force them out of their homes and so the years of slavery for us started with a vengeance . Women too were forced to labour and some were put to hard tasks that were for men . At night , the Jews hoped for a reprieve of a small rest , but were forced then too by the individual Egyptians to come and slave in their houses , so Pharaoh and Bilaam's plan to prevent Jewish husband and wife from being together in order to procreate , now was deceitfully in play . Pharaoh saw that no matter how much they slaved , the Jews kept increasing , For HaShem Continued His Miracle For us and also the Jewish women would beautify themselves with their mirrors to ensure their husbands would still be with them and our children would still increase . Pharaoh called the Hebrew Midwives Shifrah ( who was Moshe's Ima Yocheved ) and Puah ( who was Moshe's little sister Miryam ) and ordered them to kill every male born , but to keep the female children alive ( and they were ordered to never even tell the Jews what Pharaoh had ordered them to do but to do it secretly ) , but they courageously followed HaShem and protected our people and disobeyed and when Pharaoh called them and asked why they had not listened to him , they answered that the Jewish women give birth on their own without even the need of a midwife and so the children get born before they even get there . HaShem Rewarded them And Increased our people even more . Torah Tells Of How HaShem , in reward , Made them houses and our Rabbonim tell us that this refers to their houses of ancestry , where Yocheved became the ancestress of the House of Kohanim Levites and Miryam became the ancestress of the House of Dovid Ha Melech , Gemorrah Sotah 11b , Rashi . Pharaoh had a dream that all his soldiers and strong men were tied up and put on one side of a scale while the Jews represented by a single little lamb was on the other side of the scale and the single lamb weighed down the scale , thus overpowering the Egyptians . Pharaoh awoke in panic and Pharaoh again called his advisors who were Bilaam , Yisro ( who became Moshe's Father-In-Law ) and Iyov ( Job ) and asked what should now be done . Pharaoh's astrologers had also seen that a redeemer would be born to the Jews and would be destroyed by water . They had seen wrong , for Moshe would not be one of the boys thrown into the Nile . The water they saw incorrectly , was Moshe's punishment for his actions much later on at Massah U' Meriva when he struck the Rock over an issue of Water , so they misunderstood what they thought they saw . Bilaam spoke up and said that it is no use burning them for we survive fire as Avraham did in the Furnace of Ur Kasdim . It is no use fighting us with the sword , for we are very strong and two of our people Simeon and Levi once had decimated a whole city on their own , the city of Shechem , so he advised that seeing as our G-D Said He Won't Send another Mabul , we should as boys , be thrown in the River , for he believed , HaShem Wouldn't Punish us or the World again , by another Flood . How wrong Bilaam was for HaShem Had Only Said there won't be another World Flood , But HaShem Could Still Send minor floods or punish in many other ways . Yisro advised that seeing as we Jews helped the country , we should be left alone . Pharaoh was about to order him killed , so Yisro left and took with him the Staff that was once Yosef's that had been passed down from Adam , Shais , Noach , Avraham , Yitzchak , Yaakov and then down to Yosef . Iyov , seeing what might happen if he defends the Jews , decided to remain silent and so ended up ( as we see in the Book of Iyov Job ) being tested by HaShem . So Pharaoh took the advice of Bilaam and had the male Jewish children thrown into the Nile , but ordered that every female Jewish child be kept alive , for the Egyptian's ugly nefarious purposes . While the Egyptians were trying to destroy the Jews , HaShem Was Already Working On our Redemption and our redeemer Moshe . From the Tribe of Levi , the grandson of Levi , Amram was married to Yocheved and they already had two children Aharon and Miryam , but when Amram , who was the head of the Jewish Sanhedrin type - court at the time , saw what the Egyptians were doing to the Jewish boys , he thought it was no use for our people to have children who would Chas Ve Shalom be killed , so he divorced his wife and ordered others to do likewise . Yocheved at this time , was already three months pregnant with Moshe . Very Young Little Miryam approached her Father Amram and told him that his decree was worse than the Egyptians , for they wanted to stop only the male Jewish children from being born , but his decree would halt even the female children from being born and he acknowledged her wisdom and remarried his wife and ordered the other husbands to do likewise . The Egyptians would bring their babies to cry near ours in Goshen and get them to cry so it would make our babies cry and they could then find out where we might be hiding our little children so they could kill them . Egyptians would also move into houses next door o us , in Goshen and spy on us pretending to be one of us . HaShem Protected us . Pharaoh's astrologers told Pharaoh that the redeemer was still not destroyed and may have a touch of Egyptian connection ( for Moshe was brought up among Egyptians and his adoptive Mother , though a Ger Tzaddekes , was born Egyptian ) and so Pharaoh then decreed that also Egyptian boys were also to be cast into the Nile . How wise Is HaShem To Have Confused the Egyptian advisors . Yocheved was able to hide the birth of Moshe , for as I mentioned earlier , she was already three months pregnant with him when she and Amram remarried and so he was born earlier than the Egyptians would have expected . The Wise Workings Of our Beloved HaShem . When this little very holy boy Moshe was born , he was named Yekusiel , but he had throughout his life , other names given to him, like Ben Levi , Avigdor , Avi Socho , Avi Zanoach , Tuvia , Moshe and others , like Chavair , Ben Nesanel and Shemaiya ( Midrash Says - Shemos - Rabbi Weissman ) , ten names in all . Thus Moshe in actual fact had ten names throughout his life that he was known as . When he was born , he was born with a light on his face and he was born circumcised and so Amram his Father praised his little daughter Miryam for her wisdom and saving of this redeemer , for they saw on Moshe's face and by the fact of him being born circumcised , that this child would be a Tzaddik and the Redeemer . Yocheved , being very wise , knew of the Egyptian's ploys and knew that the advisors of Pharaoh had told him that the redeemer would be destroyed by water and so she ensured that little Moshe would be put onto water so it would look to the Egyptians that he had been cast into the Nile . This was the case , for as soon as little Moshe's basket touched the Nile , Pharaoh's astrologers told Pharaoh that the Jewish redeemer has been destroyed , Chas Ve Shalom and Pharaoh stopped the edict of casting children into the Nile . The very fact that Yocheved could not hide him anymore , was due to the fact that it might be counted now that he would have had the nine months to be born and so , she took a wicker basket and covered it with clay and pitch , put Moshe in it and set it afloat on the Nile , with Miryam set to watch over it . How Sweet Is HaShem And How Sweet Is His Holy Workings , for it was at that time that Basya , Pharaoh's daughter , who was coming down to the Nile to do her Tevilah , for she was converting to Judaism , that she heard a little baby cry . In actual fact , little Moshe was very quiet , But HaShem Sent the Malach Angel Gavriel to tap little Moshe on the nose , to make sure he would cry out and be heard And By HaShem , Saved And Put In the right position he needed to be . How Holy And Sweet And Beautiful Is HaShem . Basya knew that this was a Hebrew boy and called him Moshe for he was drawn out of the water and in honour of this special lady that reared him , HaShem Kept this name Moshe for this ever so holy child and it was then that Miryam appeared and offered that her own Mother Yocheved rear the child and so little Moshe was brought up by his real Mother in his very early years and he knew full well of his roots and who he was that he was a Jew . Basya told Yocheved to bring Moshe back when he had grown . Thus HaShem Works His Miracles In Ways Beyond our own small intelligence , for in the midst of our enemy , Did HaShem Secure His Choice of a redeemer . So Moshe grew up in the court of Pharaoh and Pharaoh himself took a great liking to this special child . One day while Moshe was playing on Pharaoh's lap at the table , Moshe took Pharaoh's crown off Pharaoh's head and put it on his own head and went and sat on Pharaoh's throne . This greatly troubled Pharaoh and he again called his advisors Bilaam , Yisro and Iyov , to ask what should be done with the child . Bilaam said to kill the boy , Yisro said to save the boy and Iyov again , kept silent and Bilaam advised that the boy be tested with a hot piece of coal or precious jewel , to test if the boy's previous action , was one of knowing . Moshe was about to put his hand toward the precious jewel , When HaShem Sent the Malach Angel Gavriel to push his hand toward the coal , so as to save his life and so Moshe put the hot coal into his mouth and burnt his mouth and thus had a speech impediment . Moshe knew that he was a Jew and so , would go out with his brethren into the brick-pits . He could have continued as a prince , but he chose to suffer with his people . One day he went out and saw an Egyptian task master mercilessly beating a fellow Jew , Dasan . What had happened is that the Egyptian task-master had waited for Dasan to leave and go to work and returned to Dasan's home and proceeded to enter the house and force himself upon Dasan's wife Shelomis . She was known as Shelomis for she would often go out and sweeten herself with males and sadly even Egyptian ones and on this day , Dasan had returned home to find his wife had been abused . Dasan had taken issue with the Egyptian and the Egyptian had beaten him mercilessly . It was then that Moshe arrived and as Torah says " Looked this way and that and saw no man " which actually meant that Moshe was able to look forward and backward into this man's generations and saw that none of them would be a good person worthy of being called a man and so , Moshe pronounced the " Shem Ha Meforash " - " HaShem's 72 Letter Hidden Name and so the Egyptian was struck dead . The following day , Moshe again came across this same Dasan , who was arguing with his wife's brother Aviram , for Dasan wanted to divorce his wife but Aviram objected and so, Moshe again intervened . This time Moshe was shouted down and asked who had appointed him as a dignitary , ruler and judge over them , which was so prophetic , as this is exactly what Moshe became . It also came up in their words , of what he had done to the Egyptian , the day before . Moshe realized how the matter was now known and sadly , Dasan and Aviram went and told Pharaoh on him , so Pharaoh , after investigating the matter , sought his life . The Midrash tells us how Moshe was caught and brought for execution and how Miraculously With HaShem's Help , the blade struck his neck , bounced back and killed the executioner while Moshe escaped unharmed . Thank You Most Eternally Beloved HaShem . Moshe fled from Egypt . Moshe did not go straight to Midyan , but stopped first with the Cushites and joined forces with King Kokenus . The King had left his palace to attend to certain matters with his soldiers against the Kedemites , with whom the Cushites were at war . In the meantime , Bilaam had also made his way with his two sons Yunus and Yumbrus , to the same place and had evilly turned the people against their king and they had set up a moat around the city , while the king was away and put into the water , reptiles and small dangerous snakes to prevent the king's return . It was at this time that Moshe arrived on the scene . He advised the king to collect birds and send the birds toward the moat , where they ate the little snakes and so , the king regained entry into his kingdom . Moshe was given rulership after this king died and the king's wife wanted to marry Moshe , but he refused and wanted nothing to do with their idol worshiping ways . The queen wanted an idol worshiper on the throne and by then , her son Muncham had grown and he was put as king and Moshe was politely sent off with little thanks . Moshe had left Egypt at the age of twenty seven and now it was forty years later when he finally arrived at the well in Midyan - Midian , making him sixty seven years when he got there . Moshe came and saved Yisro's unmarried daughters from Amelekites who had tried to push them aside at the well . Again , we have a holy ancestor , meeting his intended at a well , like Eliezer met Rivka , Yitzchak's intended and Yaakov had met Rachel , his intended and Avram had met Sarai at a well . Moshe was first brought to Reuel , who was actually a Father figure of Yisro's daughters , but actually Yisro's Father and then Moshe was brought before Yisro . When Yisro saw who it was and realized that this is a fugitive from Egypt , Yisro put him in a ward like a cell for ten years and it was Tzipporah who brought him food . After ten years , where Moshe was now seventy seven , Yisro let him out and so he married Tzipporah , whose holy actions were light and holy like a Tzippor Bird and Moshe watched over Yisro's sheep . Yisro had these unmarried daughters as he had tried many religions and found them all false , as he did with the Midyanite religion and so people did not want to marry his daughters . One day while Moshe was walking in Yisro's field , he saw a staff sticking out of the ground . He pulled it and it came out in his hand . This holy staff , had engraved on it , The Name Of HaShem and the Hebrew acronym of the Ten Plagues , DTZ"CH AD"SH B'ACH"V , HaShem Would Send Upon Egypt , Engraved long long before this event ever took place , back in Adam Ha Rishon's time . Moshe went to Yisro and asked him about this staff and Yisro told him that it was the staff belonging to Yosef that he had taken out of the court of Egypt and that Yisro had stuck part of it into the ground and that no one had ever been able to pull it out again and that it was told then that only the chosen redeemer of G-D would be able to pull it out and so did this true story come down in history and became the story that even touched the legend of king arthur and the sword excalibur . So did Moshe have sons with Tzipporah , Gershom and Eliezer . Yisro had allowed Moshe to marry his daughter as long as Moshe did not return to Egypt . One day while Moshe was pasturing and watching Yisro's sheep , one lamb ran astray and Moshe , being a man who would not lose a single sheep out of caring and compassion for them , for all the sheep were important to this very caring man and so , Moshe left the flock to go and find the lost one . He found it and carried it all the way back on his shoulders , for he said to it , ' come my little one , you need not be alone , for you are with other sheep and even one will be missed . ' HaShem Watched this beautiful caring event And Said To Himself , " Such a man that will even go so far as to see that not a single lamb ( Jew ) is lost , is certainly the one who should redeem my people . It was at this time , that a new Pharaoh was now over Egypt , Seti's son Raamses II ( who had grown up with Moshe ) and this Pharaoh proclaimed himself deified and told people he had created the Nile . Because of this , HaShem Gave him leprosy and he would go down to the Nile early in the morning to bathe ( early so that no one would see him that he wasn't deified at all and that he needed the Nile to cleanse himself , for all Egyptians at the time , being so reliant on the Nile for watering the land , had thought too that the Nile was deified , but Pharaoh's immersing in it wasn't helping - Oh what idol worshipers these people were , so Pharaoh had little Jewish children killed and he bathed in their blood . It was at this very time , when the outcry of these children went up to HaShem , as now the Egyptians had gone too far . It was also at this time that Moshe was pasturing the sheep , when he had gone to save this one little lamb and Moshe , being the holy man that he was , was pulled to Har Sinai ( Moshe and this particular unimposing mountain were drawn to each other for both were humble ) , for he found himself at the foot of Har Sinai Mount Sinai . Moshe was called upon to notice that a bush on the mountain was aflame and when he stepped a step closer , Moshe noticed that the bush was not devoured . HaShem Knew that Moshe would be attracted by this site , For HaShem Had Appeared To Moshe when Moshe was still a little boy and even then at a young age , Moshe had asked HaShem how come his people are left in bondage and Moshe had compared us to the beautiful foliage that is being burnt with the fury of slavery . So this bush that was aflame but not being burnt , was a reminder to Moshe , that though the nations hurt us and want to destroy us and burn us , we will Be Saved By HaShem and live eternally as a Nation . At first HaShem Instructed the Malach Angel to call to Moshe in his Father Amram's Voice , so as not to scare Moshe and so Moshe knew that Amram his Father must have by now passed away and was close to HaShem . HaShem Asked Moshe to remove his shoes for he was standing on Holy Ground . HaShem Introduced Himself Being G-D of our Fore-Fathers and Moshe hid his face in humility . HaShem Told Moshe How HaShem Had Seen our Affliction in Mitzrayim ( Egypt , for the word Mitzrayim , meant borders as if locked in , for those in Egypt were not allowed to leave unless with Pharaoh's permission ) And How HaShem Would Take us Out And Bring us To HaShem's and our Holy Land and HaShem Told Moshe That He Would Dispatch Moshe to Pharaoh And That HaShem Would Take us Out of Egypt , but with trials and Ten Plagues at Pharaoh and Egypt . Moshe replied humbly that he was unworthy . HaShem Assured Moshe That He Would Be With Moshe . Moshe asked what is HaShem Name And HaShem Responded that he should say " E'h'yeh Asher E'h'yeh " - " I Shall Be As I Shall Be " Sent Moshe . Moshe caught on that the fact that two " Shall Be's " were mentioned , it showed That HaShem Was Actually Saying To Moshe That " I Shall Be in this exile , as I shall be in future exiles , " so Moshe realized that this would not be a final redemption for all time , for our people and that the Final Redemption would come later in the future and that we would face other future exiles and Moshe mentioned this to HaShem , Who Praised Moshe for his compassion and thus Told Moshe to just mention the freeing from this exile , thus saying as His Name " I Shall Be Sent me to you . " HaShem Told Moshe How HaShem Would Strike Egypt With All HaShem's Wonders and how they would eventually send us out with great wealth , for all the years of slavery . Moshe continued humbly trying to persuade HaShem that he was not worthy and wrongly showed disbelief in the people not believing in him , So HaShem Showed him the miracle of the staff turning into a snake and the action of putting his hand into his chest and it becoming leprous , not just as a sign for Egypt , but as a show that one must not Loshon or slander others or talk badly of others , like the snake did in Gan Eiden and that punishment for slander is Leprosy Tzaraas . The sign to bring the people to this very mountain and to pour water on the ground in Egypt and it becoming blood , was also mentioned to Moshe . Moshe continued to humbly try to Have HaShem Choose another and mentioned his speech impediment And HaShem Reminded Moshe That It Is HaShem Who Makes speech , hearing and sight . Moshe continued to humbly try to step back and said , " Please my L-RD , send through whomever You will send . " Moshe was saying that there must be others more worthy . HaShem Was Angry And Mentioned Aharon , Moshe's brother , who would go with him and assist Moshe , for Aharon was already on the way to meet Moshe , For HaShem Had Also Appeared To Aharon . Because of Moshe's continued disagreeing to be sent , Moshe lost the position of Kohein Gadol High Priest , that was now given to Aharon . HaShem Spoke To Moshe On Har Sinai , while Moshe had continued to humbly try to step back from it , for a period of seven days and after the seven days , Moshe finally had to agree . And so , Moshe returned to Yisro Yeter and asked Yisro to annul Moshe's words to him that he had previously said , that he would not return to Egypt . Moshe told Yisro that the time had come For HaShem To Redeem the Jews , His people , the Children of Israel , from the land of Egypt and so Yisro told him to " Go to peace . " Moshe delayed And HaShem Again Appeared To Moshe in Midyan Midian And Told him to return to Egypt for the people that were seeking his life had died . So Moshe took his wife and sons and put them on the donkey and he returned to Egypt And HaShem Told him that he was to tell Pharaoh that Israel Is HaShem's Firstborn Son ( Shemos Exodus 4 : 22 ) And HaShem Told Moshe Of The Wonders That HaShem Would Perform In Egypt . On the way to Egypt , HaShem Encountered Moshe , for Moshe had not yet circumcised his son Gershom and Tzipporah , holy as she was , realized why this encounter was happening and she circumcised her son . Tzipporah was forced to remain with her children , for the child had to heal , which is why Moshe had not rushed to circumcise him , himself , as he knew he had to travel . HaShem Appeared To Aharon And Told him to go and meet his brother Moshe . And so they met and Moshe told him of all the signs and words that were told to him that he could tell his brother . Moshe and his brother Aharon went and gathered the elders and told them the prophetic words that the True Redeemer would tell , remembered through the generations by Serach bas Asher , who was alive in Yosef's time , when Yosef had said what the True Redeemer would come and say , which were corroborated " Pakad - Pakod Pakadti " and so the elders believed in Moshe and Aharon . HaShem Had Instructed Moshe to at first tell Pharaoh that the Jews would go for three days , not at first telling the Egyptians that it would be permanent , because the previous Pharaoh had also not told the Jews at first when they were called to first come for the work project , what the real story was . So Moshe and Aharon went to Pharaoh and at first ( and there were lions and other wild animals on the way among the decimated Jewish bodies lying beaten and hurt ) , the elders went with , but one by one , left in fear and so they were made to stand lower , at a later time when we all stood at Har Sinai . When Moshe and Aharon came before Pharaoh , they asked Pharaoh to send out the Jewish people to serve G-D in the Wilderness . Pharaoh was in the middle of a festival , where other dignitaries from other countries also were visiting and bringing gifts and Pharaoh asked these two men who were standing tall and filled with light , from whom they come and what gifts have they brought him . They answered and said that they come from G-D The Most High and their gift is a message to tell Pharaoh From G-D The Most High And Only G-D , ' To Let My People Go . ' Pharaoh responded that he knew not this G-D and asked his advisors to bring him the book of all the deities names , yet he could not find HaShem's Name in it . Moshe and Aharon told Pharaoh That HaShem Is Beyond a book and denounces the false and fake deities of the nations in Pharaoh's book , For HaShem Is The True G-D . Pharaoh was no fool and knew of G-D , but not by the name " Ad-nai , " for his ancestors had known of " El Sh-dai " and so , Pharaoh said that he would not release the people for the three day journey in the wilderness . Pharaoh reprimanded Moshe and Aharon for disturbing the people from their work and Pharaoh ordered that now the brick tally of our people was to be the same but we would no longer be given straw , which was actually kept right near Pharaoh's Palace . Pharaoh ordered that the tally of bricks must remain the same and even ordered that the Levites , who had not worked before , must go to work too . The foremen of our people did not want to put our people in trouble and so , they took the brunt of the blame themselves and they were aggressively beaten And So HaShem Rewarded them to become leaders of our people in the Wilderness , when we left Egypt . The Jewish foremen , after leaving Pharaoh's presence , after hearing that the tally was to be the same without being given straw to make the bricks and that we were to go looking for straw , encountered Moshe and Aharon and blamed them . HaShem Had Actually Asked Moshe to leave Egypt and return to Midyan , as a test to us , that we would have faith in HaShem . Moshe returned to HaShem and blamed HaShem for doing this to the people and questioned HaShem , why HaShem Had Sent him and not another . Moshe blamed HaShem for not rescuing the people and this counted against Moshe in the end . HaShem Said to Moshe , " Now you will see What I Will Do To Pharaoh , For Through A Strong Hand Will I Send them out , And With A Strong Hand ( Via HaShem ) , will he ( Pharaoh ) drive them from his land . " So ends the Parsha . This Parsha is called " Shemos " - " Names , " for it is at this very time in our history , that we make a name for ourselves , Acknowledged And Done At This Time , By HaShem , for it is at this time that we become a people unto HaShem , when we go to Har Sinai and we become HaShem's People . It is then , that we did what no other nation , who was offered HaShem's Torah did , we take G-D and His Laws . Thus , we made a name for ourselves , a name Connected With HaShem Forever . And how did we make this " Shem-ot " - " Name ? " By " Shema Ot " - " Listening to and Hearing " HaShem And His Commandments . It is then and only then that we are part of this " Shemos " - " Name , " for when people stray from Judaism , Chas Ve Shalom and leave the Faith and intermarry out of the Faith , Chas Ve Shalom , that Judaism is lost , Chas Ve Shalom , to that family line and The Name of that Jewish family line that was Jewish for centuries , is gone or gets lost as a Jew . So we , as a people , made our " Shemos " - " Name , " by becoming a people unto HaShem and all that comes with that beautiful action of love . Only by following The Holy Torah that we and no other nation chose to accept , do we make a Jewish Name for ourselves . The other nations were offered The Torah first , but they refused , all asking what was in it and finding something or some Law or Laws , they refused to keep . We on the other hand believed In HaShem in total faith and said " Na'aseh Ve Nishma " - " We will do ( first ) and then we will hear ( ask why ) . " We did not need to know what was in it first before trusting HaShem and having faith and Emunah in HaShem , for we accepted it without asking what is in It . We straight away trusted HaShem and Accepted It with love . Thus we made a " Shemos " - " Name " for ourselves and each and every Jew keeps this " Name " as long as we keep The Very Holy Torah we all agreed Spiritually to accept and never let go of at Har Sinai . All Jews , those living at the time , those about to be born and those still to come , even many generations later , as well as righteous Gairim to come , all accepted it , so you , me and all of us Jews , were there accepting HaShem's Torah . Let us never break our word to HaShem , The One And Only True G-D and let us Bless and Thank HaShem Always For Making us Holy Jews and Blessing others who follow HaShem As One And His Commandments To them . Let all our Jewish people forever show our gratitude , by following HaShem and His Holy Torah Always , letting HaShem Know that we thank Him for making us Jewish and never straying from His Holy Torah , All His Commandments And His Love . Let all of Creation that follow HaShem Only And His Commandments To them , be Blessed . Thank You HaShem Always For Giving me the opportunity to follow You As You Want To Be followed , for following Your Commandments And Your Holy Torah True And For Giving me the life opportunity to come closer to You HaShem every moment of every day . Fast of the 10th of Teves : Today is the Fast of the 10th of Tevet , being the 10th of the Hebrew Month of Tevet . Chazal instituted Asoroh Be ' Teives for four calamities that took place on this date : - - Nebuchadnetzar , king of Bovel , laid siege to Yerushalayim - Those already exiled to Bovel got news of the destruction in Yerushalayim - The Holy Torah was translated into greek two days before , limiting its depth and helping the Hellenists grow - Ezra , the holy sage and prophet and Kohein Gadol passed away just the day before . ( Rabbi Chrysler Luach ) . Talmud Yerushalmi Yoma 1 , teaches that , " Any generation in which the Be is Ha - Mikdash is not rebuilt , is considered as if they had destroyed it . " ( The Book of our Heritage - Eliyahu Kitov ) . While our Beis Ha Mikdash Temple remains unbuilt , so is that generation unworthy for it to stand again . Being unworthy , is just the same as when It was destroyed at the time for not being worthy to have It , and thus , such a generation is like the generation that existed when It was destroyed . Our Gemorrah tells us that when HaShem Allowed The Temple to be destroyed , HaShem Rather Destroyed His House , rather than His People . We are told that the remaining Kohanim , went up onto the roof of the Temple , and A Hand Appeared From Heaven and the Kohein three the Keys to the Temple up to It and so , are the Temple Keys , in HaShem's Care . Each of us is responsible for doing our Torah Mitzvos and thus becoming worthy to have our Temple Rebuilt . To have HaShem in our midst , we need to work very strictly on ourselves and make ourselves worthy , keeping Shabbos and all HaShem's Torah and Mitzvos . So today , we Fast and remember these calamities and the much Holier Yerushalaim , in times of old . We also remember bthe Holiness of our Torah Gift , and how we must delve into It's Learning and Keep it Holy and Pure , and stay away from other false beliefs , keeping Faithful to HaShem , The One And Only G-D . We also remember the holiness of dearest Ezra the Scribe and Prophet , to whom , much of our Tefillos that we Daven today can be ascribed to him . A Most Holy Tzaddik . So as we Fast today , on Asoroh Be ' Teveis , may we plead with HaShem for forgiveness , and may all Jews come to the Holy Light of Torah , and may all Jews look deeper into their Holy Traditions and remember our standing at Har Sinai and us all as a Nation , saying , " Na 'aseh Ve Nishma " - " We will do and we will listen . " May we all work to and see the Rebuilding of our Holy Beis Ha - Mikdash - Our Holy Temple , Speedily In Our Days , with the Return of HaShem's Holy Shechinah . The Shabbos Parsha is Parashas Vayechi . In this Parsha , we read about the passing away of the very Holy Yaakov Israel , our very beloved Fore-Father . In this Parsha , Yaakov Blesses his sons to receive their Blessings . Also , Yaakov's son Yosef , is called upon to take care of Yaakov's arrangements and to a certain extent , be the leader of that generation after Yaakov , which certainly fits this Sedra's Haftorah , which is to be found in 1 Kings 2 : 1 - 12 , which refers to the passing of Dovid Ha Melech and Dovid's son Shlomo who became King after very holy Dovid Ha Melech . The Neshoma of Yaakov , seeing as Souls Migrate , According To HaShem's Wish And According To What HaShem Knows That that soul and the generation needs , the soul in Yaakov was in Dovid Ha Melech , as was the case with the Neshoma of Yosef's humble soul , also in Shlomo Ha Melech . The Spiritual bond between Yaakov and Yosef's Neshoma , goes right back to Gan Eiden and Adam Ha Rishon . Within Adam's Hebrew name , is an Alef , Dalet and Mem , which hides the line down to Moshiach , where the Alef is Adam , the Dalet , is Dovid and this line , comes down to the Mem , for Moshiach . In fact , HaShem told Adam , that his descendant Dovid , would pass away just after birth and so , Adam , who was to live a 1000 years , gave up 70 years of his life , to give to Dovid , who passed away at 70 , while Adam passed away at 930 years . So are the souls of Adam and Sheis ( his son in his likeness ) , Yaakov and his son Yosef and Dovid Ha Melech and his son Shlomo , tied by deep love . No wonder Yaakov's love for Yosef went deeper than just a Father Son relationship , at the time . So Deep Is HaShem And So Beautiful Is HaShem And HaShem's Torah . Yaakov Israel knew his time was coming and he was the first to get ill before passing on , in order to give him time to Bless his sons before he passed and so , he called for his son Yosef , knowing that Yosef would be in a position to get Pharaoh to allow Yaakov to be taken back to Canaan , out of Egypt , so that Yaakov could be buried with our Fore-Fathers and Fore-Mothers and so , he had Yosef assure him that Yosef would have him buried in Canaan in the Cave of Machpelah , near Mamre in Chevron , where Adam Ve Chava , Avraham and Sarah and Yitzchak and Rivka were put to rest standing up . Yosef assured his Father that he would do as his Father asked . Yosef did not spend that much time with his Father , for he was trying to avoid telling on his brothers for what they had done in selling him , but Yosef's sons did spend time with their Grand-Father and it was them who informed Yosef that their Father was ill , so he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim at the advice of his wife Osnas and came to his Father . Yaakov assured Yosef that Yosef's sons would share in the inheritance in Eretz Yisroel just like the other sons of Yaakov . Yosef asked his Father why his Mother Rachel was not buried in the Cave of Machpelah like the other Fore-Mothers , but on the side of the road to Ephrath Beis Lechem . Yaakov explained to Yosef That HaShem Would one day in the future Take our people into exile in Bavel , due to Avodah Zorah idol worship of some of the people and they would travel past that place where Rachel was buried and Rachel would thus be able to pray for us , her children , begging HaShem Not To Be Angry that some of us had strayed , for nor was she angry that she gave her place to her sister in marriage to Yaakov , So HaShem Too , Should Be Understanding And Forgive us And Bring us out of exile and no doubt , because Rachel had been in such a position of giving her beloved Yaakov to her sister Leah , so could Rachel be the only one to ask of HaShem the same kind of request to be understanding , when sadly , our attention was diverted from HaShem and so , HaShem Accepted Rachel's prayers for her children - us . Yaakov then wanted to bless Yosef's children , so Yosef put his older son to Yaakov's right and the younger one , to Yosef's left , but Yosef saw that his Father Yaakov placed his right hand ( the hand that would usually go on the first-born's head ) , onto the younger one's head and Yosef wanted to correct Yaakov but his Father Yaakov assured Yosef that he , Yaakov , had a good reason out of fore - knowledge for what he , Yaakov , was doing , for Yaakov said that the younger one would become greater than the older . This was in reference to Joshua Yehoshuah , who would in the future come from the younger one Ephraim's line , generations later . Yaakov blessed Yosef's sons with the same words that we say to our children every Erev Shabbos , " May G-D Make you like Ephraim and like Manasseh , " thus putting Ephraim before Manasseh . This Blessing signified that our people should be like Ephraim and Manasseh , who lived among other nations in exile and yet still kept true to Holy Religious Judaism and never strayed . So may our children always be so and keep faithful to HaShem And His Holy Torah and never stray or follow the wrong paths of those around us , who wrongly do . Israel Yaakov informs Yosef that he is about to pass on And That HaShem Will after the time in Mitzrayim , Bring us back to Canaan . Israel Yaakov gave Yosef an extra portion more than the other brothers , the place Shechem ( showing that deep down , Yaakov knew what the brothers had done to Yosef , for it was that place that was connected to where Yosef was sold by his brothers ) that Yaakov had taken with his sword and his bow when , at the time of the incident after Simeon and Levi had killed all the Shechemite men where their sister had been forcefully taken , the other nations came up in defence of the people of Shechem and Yaakov had fought a war with them And With HaShem's Help , had won and so , Yaakov gave this area to Yosef . Yaakov called for his sons to give them his final Blessings From HaShem and Yaakov was just about to reveal to them the time of the End of Days , for the Shechinah was resting above Yaakov , But HaShem Did Not Want this time to be revealed at that time or be known and so , as Yaakov was about to reveal this , the Shechinah lifted and so Yaakov was not able to complete his words of when that time will be . We also note that Yaakov wanted to tell us of the End of Days , starting with the words " Ha'asfu " - " Assemble yourselves , " which shows that one of the ways to bring Moshiach and usher in The End of Days , is for our Jewish people to " Assemble , " in other words come together as one people under HaShem in obedience to all of HaShem's Laws and so , this " Coming together " and getting rid of old strife and strictly keeping HaShem's Commandments , is one of the ways to bring Moshiach . Yaakov Israel then Blessed the Tribes . Reuvein was reminded of his Aveirah and how the Shechinah was desecrated , That Rested on that particular couch that only the Shechinah of HaShem Rested on and how Reuvein had moved that couch out of Bilhah's tent and into his own Mother Leah's Tent . Yaakov gives Reuvein a Blessing in disguise , which is that Reuvein will and can go far as long as he learns patience and not to be impetuous . Yaakov then refers to Simeon and Levi's actions in how they handled the Shechemite issue and that Yaakov's soul will not enter into their actions of violence . Yaakov refers to them murdering a people , in reference to the Shechemites and maiming an ox , in reference to Shechem himself . This is also a hint to what these two brothers did to Yosef , who is referred to as a "strong boned ox " who keeps to HaShem's Commandments without wavering , even in exile and so , this again shows that Yaakov knew without Yosef telling him , what these two specifically had done to Yosef , where Levi had been the one who said of young Yosef , " behold the dreamer comes , " and Simeon had been the one who threw him into the pit . So Yaakov ensured that these two sons would be kept apart from each other , not only in their travels as Tribes when we all came back from Egyptian slavery , but also in Israel , when the time came for the Land to be divided , for when these two Tribes get together , they are ever so strong , as they were when these two , as small boys , wiped out the Shechemites single-handedly . Yehudah is then Blessed and noted as the leader of the Tribes as the Tribe of kingship , like a lion and from this tribe , will Mashiach come - noted as " Shiloh . " Wine and Milk referred to here refers to Mashiach and the Torah of Milk and Honey . When our children first read and learn The Holy Torah , we dab a little honey on their tongue to remind them that the Torah always be sweet on our tongues . Zevulun will be given those places on seashores to bring trade and wealth to his brothers and he and his brother Yissaschar , mentioned next , work together hand in hand , where Zevulun toils while Yissaschar studies Torah and so , will each get the Kavod of both as if they are one , yet both will and are to study Torah . The people of Yissaschar bend themselves humbly to HaShem's Torah And Will . Yaakov Israel Blesses Dan next and here , Yaakov sees in prophecy , a man who , from this Tribe , will avenge his people against the Philistines and this man , Yaakov sees , is Samson Shimshon the Judge of Israel , who will be like a single serpent on the way , in other words one single man , who will attack at the very enemy's foundation , all by himself , a viper by the path , as Shimshon was , when he hid and awaited the enemy to walk past and the reference to the horse's heels and rider , refers to how Shimshon killed so many by himself , just with the jawbone of a ass / donkey . Yaakov ends his blessing to this Tribe with words that show how salvation is still awaited from HaShem , for Yaakov fore-saw how this Shimshon , regaining his power From HaShem , once his Nazarite hair grew again , in his death , will bring down 3000 Pelishtim , in their colosseum of their dagan deity , when he pushes over the supporting pillars , this sadly would be Shimshon's end too and so , would Israel still await the Final Redemption . Gad , Yaakov Blessed from HaShem , with powerful fighting men , who would overcome the enemy , for Gad's portion of territory , would bring them into constant contact with Ammonite raiders . Asher , was Blessed with " kindly delicacies , " in connection with the abundance of olive oil in his region in Eretz Yisroel as well as spiritually beautiful women who would marry Kohanim . Naphtali is referred to as a " hind let loose who delivers beautiful sayings " and this refers to the incident that was to take place when Yaakov had already passed away and was being buried in the Cave and Eisav came along and claimed the site for himself and Naphtali , fleet of foot , ran quickly back to Egypt , to get the title that it belonged to Yaakov and his side of the family . Next , is Yosef Blessed and Israel Yaakov makes reference to Yosef's inauguration as he was led through the city in Egypt . Yaakov also makes mention of arrow-tongued men hating him , a reference to Yosef's brothers and also to the men of Egypt at the time Zulaicha and her friends and husbands made false accusations against him , where their husbands joined in . Yaakov refers to Yosef's " bow being firmly emplaced and his arms gilded from the hands of the Mighty power of Yaakov " and this refers to the constant taunts of Potiphera's wife and how at the last moment of that last attempt of Zulaicha to entice Yosef , just before Yosef got accused , how Yosef held himself in check and did not fall and sin and how , Yosef saw an image of the mighty Yaakov his Father , that kept him at that moment from doing anything wrong . So would Yosef receive abundant Blessings . Yaakov then Blessed Binyamin , as a " predatory wolf , " of how " in the morning devouring prey and in the evening , distributing spoils . " Here , Yaakov prophesies reference to King Shaul , a Benjaminite , who defeated Moav , Edom and Philistia , and also it is a reference to the happening of the Concubine of Gibeah in the book of Judges 19 and 20 ( Radak ) and of course to the coming of Mordechai and Esther , who were from the Tribe of Binyamin , who were HaShem's Servants against haman the amalekite and both rose there in Persia , to high state . Yaakov Blessed the Twelve Tribes and the very fact that they were mentioned as Twelve Tribes again , refers to their holiness . Yaakov then again instructs them to make sure that he Yaakov is buried back in Canaan in the Cave of Machpelah and so , sadly , our beloved Fore - Father Yaakov Israel passed away . Yosef , who wept deeply and heavily , had his Father embalmed , which our Rabbis believe was incorrect , for trust should have been there That HaShem Would Keep Yaakov as he was . Even Egypt bewailed Yaakov's passing , where the passing of such a Holy Tzaddik , leaves in its place an emptiness and lack of Blessing , in its place , in that specific place , so was Yaakov fearing that Pharaoh might not let Yaakov leave Egypt and be buried in Canaan ( for Pharaoh knew that Blessing From HaShem , had come with Yaakov's presence in Egypt ) , but Yosef assured Pharaoh that he had given his word to his Father to do this very thing and so , after Pharaoh first objected and Yosef reminding him of how Yosef had kept his word to Pharaoh before , never to reveal that Yosef knew one more language more than Pharaoh , The Holy Language of Hebrew too Holy for Pharaoh to grasp , so did Pharaoh consent to allow Yaakov to return to Canaan . Yaakov certainly did not want his body to be buried in Egypt , in the very dust there , that in the time of Moshe , in the Plagues in Egypt , that very dust would become lice . Yaakov also knew that since his coming to Egypt had brought with it , HaShem's Blessings , Yaakov knew that the Egyptians , being idol worshipers , may worship his body or his burial place , even though it was HaShem Who Had Sent the Blessings , in Yaakov's Holy Honor and so Yaakov did not want such a thing to happen , not wanting to be buried there in such an unholy land . Yaakov , wanted to be buried in the Holy Land , where his Fore-Fathers were buried , standing up , ready to walk out of the Cave at the time of Techias Ha Meisim The Resurrection of the Dead at the time of Mashiach . Yosef and the brothers carried Yaakov all the way back to Canaan , also with a following of Egyptians . Yosef put his crown on the coffin as did other nations whom they passed on the way back , for Yaakov was known as a very holy man . So was Yaakov Israel buried in the Cave of Machpelah and as I mentioned earlier Eisav came at that moment and contested it . Chushim , Dan's deaf son saw the commotion that Eisav was making at such a holy time and struck Eisav to the point of death and Yehudah , struck the final blow . Eisav's head rolled into the cave but his body remained outside and was given to his family to bury on Mount Seir . So was their Mother Rivka's words fulfilled that she was bereft of both her sons on the same day ( Bereishis 27 : 45 ) . So was our last beloved Fore-Father buried in the Cave of Machpelah , a great light was gone from the World . After the passing of their holy Father Yaakov , Yosef's other brothers became afraid that now Yosef would come down on them , for Yosef , dealing with the sadness of his Father's Passing and also not wanting to take the head place at a table with them over his other brothers , did not invite them as before , thus making them mistakenly worry and mistakenly misunderstand his actions and so they approached him making out that their Father had wanted him to forgive them . Yosef reassured them that he would still take care of them and would not hurt them and that he held no anger to them at all . Pharaoh passed away and Yosef stood in as ruler of Egypt for many years and Yosef saw three generations through his sons . Before he was about to pass away , Yosef asked his brothers that they must bring his bones out of Egypt and bring him back to Canaan , when the Jews leave there after the time of slavery is completed . Yosef also told them that after the period of slavery in Egypt , HaShem Will Send a Redeemer who will be known when he speaks the words , " Pakod Yifkod , " ( Bereishis 50 : 24 ) - " G-D Will surely remember you " and so , Yosef passed away before his brothers at the age of One Hundred and Ten , ten years before he would have otherwise , due to his not stopping his Father being called ' servant ' ten times , when the brothers were before him as viceroy . The last brother to pass away in Egypt was Levi . Yosef was placed in a coffin and sunk to the bottom of the Nile , so that no one might take his bones out of Egypt , for the Egyptians believed his being there brought them blessing and blessings to the nile , Though All Blessings Come From HaShem Alone . So ends the Parsha and the First Book of The Torah Bereishis . This Parsha is called " Vayechi " - " Lived " although the Parsha is actually about the passing of Yaakov Israel and at the end of the Parsha , the passing of Yosef . So why then is such a Parsha about their passing , called " Vayechi " which means " Lived or Living . " This is because a true and holy Tzaddik , who is so close to HaShem and has become so holy and spiritual , continues on to greater Life and holiness after their physical passing . Physical passing , is yet another part of ' True Living . ' So is the word " Vayechi " used . The same was the case , with the passing of Sarah . The passing of Yaakov , was only a physical passing . The Neshoma continues closer to HaShem , growing ever closer to HaShem , climbing ever higher toward HaShem . Life is not what it seems . Physical Life itself , if we choose our choices Given By HaShem , wisely and follow and listen to HaShem And His commandments , is only a pathway toward getting closer to HaShem . When a person passes , only their physicality remains and returns to what HaShem Made it from and the terms ' passes on ' become more apt , for that is exactly what is happening . The person passes on from one way of being , to the next , whether that be as a person again , or as whatever HaShem Deems them to become , so that they can continue to spiritually grow . We see only a tiny minute picture of all things and so , does " True Life " actually continue in all its Brilliance , toward HaShem . The very fact of living , is a step toward the time of Mashiach . We see this in the very first word of this Parsha " Vayechi , " which comes to 34 in Gematriah , and 3 + 4 = 7 , the Gematrical value of the word ' Moshiach . ' Thus , when we live according to HaShem and His Commandments And Ways , we continue to live , beyond the physical existence of what we see , working toward holy beings coming ever closer to HaShem and so by following HaShem And His Commands And HaShem's Holy Torah , we thus work to bring in Moshiach and usher in The End Of Days . Life is not about having value - less parties and a frivolous good time for the moment . These things have no long lasting or worthy value at all . True Life , is truly using this Physical World as a preparation to earn our place in the Eternal Home Of HaShem's Gan Eiden . So says Pirkei Avos , that the World we are in , is the antechamber to prepare ourselves to enter the banquet hall , of The Eternal World To Come Olam Habah . That is True Living , not just for the here and now , but Truly for Eternity . For True Life is Life With HaShem . That is what we are all actually here for . To do otherwise , would not be ' living ' at all . Every moment of every day of every moment of every moment , Is A Gift From HaShem , to Gain True " Vayechi " - " Living . " Yaakov and our Fore-Fathers knew this . Now it is time for us to know it too . This Physical World Existence , is your opportunity and mine , From HaShem , to Work toward Olam Habah The World To Come and so , this very working toward an Eternal Blessed Destination With HaShem , is really and truly , what is ' True Living . ' Let us all stop wasting our lives That HaShem Gives us and from now on , " Vayechi , " - " Truly Live " for HaShem and so will we get " True Vayechi , " - " True Life Eternal , " In HaShem's Olam Habah Gan Eiden In Shamayim Within The Beauty Of HaShem HaKadosh Baruch Hu , HaShem The Holy One Blessed Be He .
