The Shabbos Parsha is Parashas Shoftim . This Parsha starts by instructing us to Appoint " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " - " Judges and Officers " in all our cities . We are now in the month of Elul approaching the time of year When HaShem Created Creation On The 25th Of Elul and so we look toward The Coming Of HaShem and His Moshiach To bring on The End of Days and we work up toward Rosh HaShanah on the 1st of Tishrei , by blowing the Shofar every day in this month of Elul except on Shabbos . It was also on the first of Elul that Moshe went up Har Sinai and came down 40 days later on Yom Kippur with the Second Tablets . We also blow the Shofar this month to confuse the accusing Angel , for at this time , our minds must look toward repentance , for it was on the 1st of Tishrei That HaShem Created Adam ve Chava On Rosh HaShanah . Thank You HaShem for such a Beautiful Creation . During This Time Period of the year , it is such a good time to teach about The End Of Days , Which Is HaShem's Wish Of Where HaShem Had Set Creation In The Beginning To Go Toward , had Adam Ve Chava not disobeyed . Had they not sinned , they would have gone into the Eternal Shabbos End of Days straight away . May HaShem Come And Redeem us And May HaShem Then Let us step into Olam Habah The World To Come . This Idea is seen in the Haftorah for this Sedra , which is in Yeshayahu Isaiah 51 : 12 - 52 : 12 , Where HaShem Says , " How beautiful ascending the mountains are the footsteps of the herald making heard , " Peace ! " heralding , " Good ! " making heard , " Salvation! " saying unto Zion , " Your G-D Has Reigned! " The voice of your lookouts , they have raised a voice , together they shall sing glad song , for every eye shall see when HaShem Returns To Jerusalem . Burst forth in joy , sing glad song together , O ruins of Jerusalem , For HaShem Shall Comfort His People ; He Has Redeemed Jerusalem . HaShem Has Bared His Holy Arm To the eyes of the Nations , and all the ends of the Earth shall see The Salvation Of our G-D . " How beautiful will be the time still to come , May it Come Soon in our days when all the Nations will finally see that The Jews were the ones who followed HaShem Correctly and that all will see , from all the Nations , That HaShem Has Never Given up on Israel And That HaShem Maintains His Covenant With The Jewish People of Israel , Children of Avraham and all Nations will see HaShem's Return To Yerushalayim Jerusalem , To His Chosen Jewish People And His Long Awaited True Salvation Will Shine Forth , as the Haftorah says . Such is the beautiful future of all those who keep To HaShem's Laws and Appoint " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " - " Judges and Officers " and ensure HaShem's Commandments are kept forever . HaShem Commands us to Appoint in all our cities " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " - " Judges and Officers " and they are to Judge the people with righteous judgement . These Judges are not to pervert judgement and not look to the Physicality of the plaintiffs before them , not to be swayed by a person's station or status in life , not to accept bribes , for " Bribes will blind the eyes of the wise and make just words crooked , " as our Beautiful Torah From HaShem Says So Very Beautifully . HaShem Commands That " Righteousness Righteousness shall you pursue " and our Rabbis tell us that the word " Righteousness " is repeated to remind us that we are to seek Righteous and to do that Righteousness in a Righteous way . We are not to think that negative means can be used to ensure Righteousness , but we are to , at all times , seek Righteousness using only Righteous ways and never think that underhand tactics are to be used to make Righteous ways and we are never to think ' Oh well , the end justifies the means , ' so we think we can do wrong things to ensure a Right result . Never must we think that . Righteousness must carry all the way through , cleaning the air , pursuing Righteousness by Righteous ways and means only . We are to pursue Righteousness using Righteous Paths and Ways . HaShem Instructs us to appoint Judges in every city That HaShem Gives us and there are to be a minimum of 3 Judges in civil matters and 23 Judges in capital cases . There must always be an odd number so that there can never be a tie in judgement . The Judges , when they Judge , as our Rabbonim say , are to realize that they stand in HaShem's Stead and are thus to imagine that above their heads is a sword and below them is Gehinnom and that they are to Judge very carefully , fully and properly and honestly . Such is to be the case with each city That HaShem Gives us , for each Tribe . All Capital Courts are to answer to the Head Sanhedrin that consisted of 71 members ( like the 70 elders that HaShem Had Moshe choose and Moshe made up the 71 - Chabad source ) . Judges are to be fair and not look to the status of a man's standing in the community . All are equal . Dovid Ha Melech was so kind , that when a very poor litigant had to pay , he would afterwards take him aside and assist him , giving him the money he needed to pay his judgement , if this was a genuine poor person , but still he would Judge ever fairly . Witnesses too were tested , to make sure that they were honest witnesses and a witness who would lie to condemn another person wrongly , would receive the same punishment as the one he was trying to falsely condemn , would have received , had this false witness's testimony been accepted . Shlomo HaMelech , when he would go to Judge , would have six steps going up to his Judging seat and as he would walk up each step , he would recite aloud , The Torah injunctions HaShem Gave for a Righteous Judge . At times he would have a sword brought into the Court where he sat and it would be there to remind him of the weight that would be upon his head , that he must judge honestly , righteously and fairly , According To HaShem's Dictates . At times , he would keep this sword across his lap and hold the handle with one hand and the sword blade with the other , to keep him alert to the sharp end that is like the sensitivity he must display in judging . Near him , would be a scroll of The Torah , which would at times be in his hands , to remind him of The Holiness Of HaShem , For Whom , he was standing for . Dovid Hamelech , when he would go out on his horse , would always carry a Torah Scroll on him , so as to carry HaShem With him wherever he went . Such was also the Torah Law . HaShem Commands That also " Shotrim " - " Officers " be appointed , to ensure that the Laws are kept . HaShem Commands us never to plant an idolatrous tree ( which is what the nations who worshiped idols used to put near their places of idol worship ) , or any tree near the Altar Of HaShem and so , no tree was ever to be found in the vicinity of the Holy Temples . Nor are we ever to put up a pillar there , as the nations who worshiped their idols would put , for they would pour their idol worshiping pagan libations on it . So we were forbidden to put such things . HaShem Instructs That when we bring an Offering to HaShem , it is not to have a blemish , for this is an abomination to HaShem . HaShem Makes Clear , the punishment of anyone who is an idol worshiper , which is Evil In The Eyes Of HaShem . By the testimony of two or three witnesses , shall such an idol worshiper be put to death , the hands of the witnesses who witnessed the idol worship act , shall be the first to take action against the idol worshiper who has been judged so and then the hands of the entire people afterwards to also carry out the punishment , for we are to destroy the evil from our midst . Each Jew is to stand up in this World , even if they stand alone and work to correct the wrongs they are shown . Each Jew , is to stand up and teach the World around them of The Oneness Of HaShem and of the correct Torah Path Of HaShem . Should a matter come that needs a Pasken - a Jewish religious Decision given from a Rabbinical authority or Rabbinic Judge , we are to go to the Kohanim , Levites , or the Judge who will be in our days and get Judgement from them . Whatever the Head Beth Din Tells us in our day , in that generation that we live , we are we to abide by . We see here , How HaShem Has Given Over to our Rabbinic Heads and Dayanim , the power to make rulings And By And According To HaShem , we are to listen to them , to those who are of our Jewish Court Beth Din . HaShem Has Authorized them to give Pasken - Decision on Torah Law , in our time . We are not , in any way to deviate from what they tell us , for to disobey them , is directly forbidden By HaShem Himself , Who Gave This Very Law In Torah Directly In This Parsha - Devarim 17 : 8 - 13 . The Gemorrah ( as told by Ramban ) talks of a case with Rabbi Gamliel and Rabbi Yehoshuah , where Rabbi Gamliel gives a Pasken on the date of Yom Kippur and Rabbi Yehoshuah disagreed and said that it was on the next day . Seeing as Rabbi Gamliel was the head , Rabbi Yehoshuah had to listen to him and so , when Rabbi Gamliel asked him to come the next day and carry his walking stick , something that would be forbidden on Yom Kippur and remember that Rabbi Yehoshuah thought that the next day was Yom Kippur , nevertheless , Rabbi Yehoshuah was a strict Torah following Jew and so , he put his own feelings aside and did as Rabbi Gamliel Instructed him . Such Is The Holy Torah As Commanded By G-D Himself In This Sedra , that we are to listen to the Torah Leaders of our time - our Head Rabbis and Beth Din . HaShem Then Foretells That the time will come that we will look around at the other Nations and see that they have a king and we will request that we too should have a king also . This Prophecy From HaShem did take place later on in years , at the time of the Prophet Shmuel , where our people requested to have a king . Shmuel was unhappy with us , for we are not like the other nations that have a human king , For HaShem Is our King . HaShem Also Instructs us On How this king is to be . The king of Israel must be a Jew . He cannot be a foreign man who is not our brother . He may not have too many horses for himself , for at the time , the most prestigious horses were from Egypt And HaShem Did Not Want us to return that way . The buyer of the horses , would have to travel there and may want to settle and this was forbidden for a Jew . The Jewish King was not to have too many wives , who will turn his heart astray and the Jewish King was not to increase silver or gold for himself . Saldy , Shlomo Ha Melech did increase horses and wives . His reasons may have been to mean well , But HaShem Knows Best . Shlomo , being very wise , reasoned that to keep good relations with Egypt and to increase his wives , as daughters of kings of foreign lands , would help keep the peace with those foreign lands . But HaShem Is Wiser and even though Shlomo felt that he would not be swayed by their foreign ways and hoped his wisdom would be enough to keep himself holy , he erred , For HaShem Knows All . If only he had listened to HaShem . So very sorry that he did not . The foreign wives brought idol worship into Israel and even though he personally did not worship their deities , the very fact that he allowed it in , was written as if he had participated in letting them be . His very own first wife was an Egyptian princess who , even though she converted , still retained within the vileness of the idol worshiping ways of idolatry . In fact , when it came to the opening of the Temple , King Solomon had led to be built , his own egyptian born wife had given him something to drink that cast a very deep sleep on the king , who had at the time chosen to stop drinking wine till the inauguration of the Temple and this was the first time he again had started wine , on his wedding night and so , when she had gotten him asleep , she hung a large black top cloth above the bed with jewels that appeared like stars and so , when he , in his semi-drugged state , partly awoke , she persuaded him that it was still dark and nighttime and so he went back to sleep , while the Kohanim awaited him to come and open the Temple , for the keys to the Temple , he always kept closely to him due to his love for Hashem and thus this time he had left it , like other times , under his pillow . When , after they waited and waited and still he never arrived , they knew that something must be wrong , but seeing as he was the king , they could not disturb him themselves and thus , they called his Mother Bas-sheva , to call her son the King and she came and woke him up . King Shlomo , though he was wise , did not foresee What HaShem Sees and so , HaShem's Laws Are Always There For our protection and must always be obeyed and listened to . Our history tells many beautiful stories of Shlomo Hamelech . One being the story of how Shlomo Ha Melech sent Benayahu , his very close friend to go and bring Ashmedai , the son of Lilith and Samael , both not good Angels , before Shlomo , so as to tell the whereabouts of the Shamir Worm , so that it could be used to cut the stones for the building of the Temple , for no iron implement was permitted on It . The story concludes , with how Ashmedai , managed to eventually remove Shlomo Ha Melech from the city and how Ashmedai , the prince of Shaidim demons , changed his form into that of the king and took his place for three years and the real King Solomon , he put far away and no matter how many times the real King Solomon told people he was the real king , people never believed him . He eventually made his way to the City and told the Kohanim and those that were in charge of the king's affairs , to check the feet of the false king , who hadn't uncovered them to anybody for a long time , for the feet of demons are not like ours , and sure enough , so was Ashmedai exposed and held , swearing vengeance on Solomon for centuries , after Ashmedai , in the form of Solomon , had shown a worship of idols , to make it appear to have been the king , may Ashmedai and his ilk , be forever removed and wiped away from existence . It is always best to listen to HaShem and not our own wants and thoughts , for though we may mean well , HaShem Sees And Knows All . HaShem Continues To Explain That a Jewish King must write for himself two copies of The Torah for himself and read it all the days of his life and keep it on him , so as to keep close to and to be forever reviewing HaShem's Laws and fear HaShem and keep HaShem's Laws , Decrees and Ordinances and also that he not become haughty and think he is over his brethren , but rather to remain forever humble . Torah Then Talks of the Priestly Gifts and Torah Tells of not following false prophets , idols , idol worshiping ways , ways of the other nations who follow deities and man made sacrifices as deities or to burn the children to molech , divinations , fortune telling , astrology , omens ( lucky times ) or sorcery , animal charmers , or one who inquires of the ov or yidoni ( bones of a dead bird that the Nations used to place in their mouths and in a state of part consciousness , would speak things or omens ) , or one who consults the dead , for such vile things are abominations to HaShem . HaShem Instructs That He Will Send us Holy Prophets that carry His Word . We are to hearken to them . But HaShem Warns that a man or any creation , who claims to be divine , is an abomination Of HaShem . A man , who preaches anything other than HaShem's Laws , yet makes out he speaks in HaShem's Name , or makes out he is divine , HaShem Says , " I will exact it from him , " a man that dares to speak in HaShem's Name , yet changes even a single Law Of G-D , or who makes out the Laws Of G-D no longer apply , Chas Ve Shalom , or makes new ways or laws That G-D Never Gave In His Torah , or who speaks in the name of foreign idols , or in the name of anything pagan , or in the name of any other belief , that deceitfully tries to take away from The Oneness Of G-D , or from the fact That G-D Is Not And Never Will Be A human or come in human form ( Numbers 23:19 ; Hoseah 11:9 for G-D Is The One And Only Savior and is not and will never come as a man - Hoseah 13:4 ) , HaShem Will cause that supposed prophet or prophet or person , to die . HaShem Tells us That we will know that prophet is false , when that prophet makes a prediction and it does not come about , being able to be verified in the lifetime of those who hear it , to know whether it came true or not , so as to take it seriously or not . Such a prophet who is false in this way , is a definite word ( and proof ) , That HaShem Has Not Spoken Through this individual , for that prophet false , spoke with willfulness and so , we must not fear the words of him . So Speaks HaShem . HaShem Then Discusses the Cities of Refuge and the unintentional murderer who is to flee there . Roads to these cities always had to be kept smooth and accessible and well sign-posted , so as to allow the person who is sent there , to get there easily and be in less danger from the ' Goel Ha Dam ' - ' The Redeemer of the Blood , ' the family member of the unintentionally murdered party , who may decide to chase the unintentional murderer . If there was no family member who would be in this role of the ' Goel Ha Dam , ' then the Courts would appoint one . But for an intentional murderer , we are not to pity him , but to Judge him and kill him and destroy the evil from our midst . We are to preserve the boundaries of our fellow , which was actually a crime committed during the time of Noach , which was one of the reasons for the Mabul Flood , where people would encroach on their neighbor's property and that encroachment would be just small enough , to be below the amount that made it a crime in those days , but it was actually still a theft . A crime is a crime , whether big or small . Conspiring witnesses to a case would be punished with the punishment being that they would be ordered to see right , the one they conspired about , a life for life , tooth for tooth , hand for hand , foot for foot as the Court Judges , either Capital Punishment , or Civil Reimbursement . HaShem Teaches what we are to do when we go to war , how we must always first give overtures of peace and offer the enemy the opportunity to be at peace with us and live under the Laws Of HaShem , in our domain . A Kohein anointed for Battle - Mashuach Milchama must be appointed who is to talk to the people before the battle . Then the " Shotrim " - "Officers " are to ask who of those going out to battle has either built a new house and has not yet inaugurated it , who has planted a vineyard and not yet redeemed it , who has betrothed a woman and not yet married her and who is fearful or fainthearted , let these return home and not go out to the battle . The nations of Canaan are to be utterly destroyed , all the nations of the Canaanites , being the Hittites , Amorites , Canaanites , Perizzites , Hivvites and Jebusites , As HaShem Commanded us , for these nation's ways should never be followed , for their idolworshiping ways and practices were abominable . HaShem Also Instructs That when we go to war against a city and besiege it many days , we are not to destroy its fruit trees . Then HaShem Instructed On The Law of the Eglah Arufah , where a man is found murdered on the land That HaShem Gives us , fallen in the field and we do not know who smote him . Our Elders and Judges must go out and measure toward the cities around the body and the city nearest must take a heifer on which no work has been done and that has not pulled a yoke and it is to be pushed down a harsh valley that cannot be worked or sown and the back of its neck axed , in the valley . The Kohanim , the offspring of Levi , shall also come . All the Elders of that closest city , shall wash their hands over the heifer that was axed in the valley and state that " Our hands have not spilled this blood , and our eyes did not see it . Atone for Your People Israel That You Have Redeemed , O HaShem : Do Not Place innocent blood in the midst of Your People Israel ! " Then shall the blood be atoned for them . The Parsha ends , By HaShem Telling us , " But you shall remove the innocent blood from your midst when you do what is right In The Eyes Of HaShem . " We are a people from of old , even from the time of Avraham , of hospitality . It was Avraham , who always escorted a guest quite a way from Avraham's home . It is a Jewish Way , to ensure our guests are escorted and safe . Thus the closest city to the body , shows that this man was not escorted safely out of the city borders , seeing as trouble befell him . Thus , this man's safety was the responsibility of the closest city . So it is the closest city , who must perform this Law of the Eglah Arufah . We are a people unto HaShem and great care must be taken with the Soul HaShem Gives us , for all day and all night , we escort our Soul within us and so must we always act in a Righteous manner at all times , for we carry HaShem's Light Within us as The Most Special Guest Of All . So ends the Parsha . HaShem Instructs us to appoint " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " - " Judges and Officers , " in our cities . We are partly Physical beings and so , need Physical Judgement and a Physical Officer to carry the work of the Court to ensure The Law is kept . We note that this Sedra Mentions " in all our cities " which teaches that a city that is not under Jewish care , but under Gentile Control , The Nation whose city is in it , must according to the Noachide Laws , ensure that a Court of Justice System be appointed . HaShem Wants us , in Israel , to have a Religious Court System , that follows strict Torah and has Torah Observant Judges and Officers , both needing to be very knowledgeable in Torah Law to uphold our Country according to strict Torah Dictates . Transgressors of Torah , are to face the Religious Jewish Torah Court System and so , be Judged and taken to account , by Judges and Officers in Cases , according to Strict Torah Guidelines And So , Says HaShem , will we then live and possess the Land That HaShem our G-D Gives us . But where should " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " - " Judges and Officers " start ? Do they start in the Court or elsewhere . HaShem Commands us to Appoint " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " - " Judges and Officers " in all our cities , but I feel HaShem Has A Deeper Meaning Here . For Keeping The Law Of HaShem , does start with us , within us . HaShem Tells us in the first verse of this Parsha to appoint " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " - " Judges and Officers " " Titen Lecha Bechol Sh'arecha " - " Shall we appoint in all our cities , " but the words , " Titen Lecha Bechol Sh'arecha " directly means " Appoint for you in all your Gates . " So HaShem Is Deeply Telling us , that we are to ' Appoint Judges and Officers for us Within us , within our own Gates ' and what is the Gate of the Soul , if not the Physical body . So HaShem Deeply Tells us , ' Appoint within yourselves , " For you " - " Titen Lecha , " that your Physical Body that Gates the Soul , be unto you , a Judge and Officer from within . So HaShem Is Teaching us That we must be as the first start of that Law of " Judge and Officer , " by being a strict " Judge " of ourselves and be our own " Officer , " that ensures that we keep HaShem's Commandments . That is where it starts . Within us , for us . It is up to us to control the Yetzer Horah and so be strict in putting our own wants and opinions aside and be strict " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " - " Judges and Officers " and be a strict Judge over our own actions and choices , making Holy Choices and being strict to carry them out , like a Judge and Officer of ourselves . HaShem Wants us to make the right Holy choices . HaShem Gives us A Lot Of His Trust And HaShem Has A Lot Of love For us . We should surely then not let HaShem down , Chas Ve Shalom . So we are to start within ourselves and make ourselves our own " Shoftim Ve Shotrim " and always keep on the Straight Path Of Torah . Then can we work outwards , being a holy example to those around us and teach them by example to be holy too . If we do this , we can be holy carriers Of HaShem's " Name " - " Shem " ( Hebrew word for name - pronounced as ' Sheim ' ) and we see this in both words " Shoftim " and " Shotrim , " for the first and last letter of each of these words spell " Shem " - " Name , " being the carriers Of HaShem's Holy Name , from within us to the outside World , all working to bring on The End Of Days , The Time When All Will Shine With The Light Of HaShem's Name And HaShem , As our Haftorah for this Torah Sedra Teaches , Will Return In Love To Yerushalayim , May It Be Soon In Our Days , With The Love Of HaShem Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu , The Holy One Blessed Be He . I wish Most Beloved HaShem With Utmost And Deepest Forever Everlasting And Eternal Love , A Most Beautiful And Sweet Shabbos Kodesh With Forever And Eternal Love and to all of my fellow Jews and to all of HaShem's Beautiful Creation , a Most Beautiful And Sweet Shabbos Kodesh with love .

The Shabbos Parsha is Parashas Re'eh . Today is also the first day of Rosh Chodesh Elul and so we add to the Parsha also the verses of Numbers 28 : 9 - 15 in reference to Rosh Chodesh . Also in the month of Elul , we start saying Psalm 27 , which makes reference to the subject of Rosh HaShanah , Yom Kippur and Succos that comes up in the following month of Tishrei . The Haftorah for this Parsha of Re'eh Rosh Chodesh is the Haftorah of Shabbos Rosh Chodesh in Isaiah 66 : 1 - 24 and seeing as the following day is also Rosh Chodesh , some congregations add also 1 Samuel 20 : 18 , 42 . Here in this Parsha , Moshe continues teaching us HaShem's Commandments and Moshe so very importantly reminds us that we have a free choice in life to follow HaShem's Commandments and do As HaShem Commands and thus be within HaShem's Blessings or to choose to disobey HaShem , Chas Ve Shalom and so bring upon ourselves a Curse . The very stepping away from HaShem , is a curse in itself and so brings about its own coldness , in a path away from HaShem . HaShem's Torah keeps us safe and protected in this World That HaShem Gives . Torah Keeps us far away from danger and the pitfalls that are out there . A Torah Life is an Eternal Life of Spiritual Brochas , Closer to HaShem . A Torah Life , should we choose it , is our trip Home to HaShem And His Beautiful Gan Eiden , His Beautiful Garden Of Eden . Yes , HaShem Does Command us to follow Him , But HaShem Still Gives us the choice to choose the Right Path and earn our own Kavod Honor and Brocha . At this time in Elul coming to Tishrei , HaShem Is Closer To us , Coming Down Closer To us From On High , for at this time nearing the New Year of Rosh HaShanah , the New year of Man and Woman , HaShem Wants To Feel Closer To His Creation That He Made On Rosh HaShanah , by Coming Down To us . It was near the end of this month of Elul That HaShem Created Creation and it was at the beginning of the following month of Tishrei That HaShem Created Adam Ve Chava . It was in the month of Elul When HaShem Created Creation Where On The 25th of Elul , HaShem Said " Let there be Light . " As I mentioned , it is during the month of Elul that we say every day Psalm 27 twice a day , right up until Shemini Atzeres , so well chosen , for it includes in the Psalm , a reference to the upcoming Rosh HaShanah , the day of the Creation of man and woman , a reference to Yom Kippur and a reference to Succos as I mentioned and we blow the Shofar during this month of Elul , every day except on Shabbos , for it was on the first day of Elul , that Moshe went up the Mountain of Har Sinai with the Second Tablets , thus showing HaShem's Forgiveness For us for the sin of the Golden Calf and so , when Moshe went up the Mountain , the Shofar was blown and so we continue to blow the Shofar the whole month ( Artscroll Siddur ) . Tradition also teaches us that we also blow the Shofar this month to confuse the Soton , the prosecuting Angel , so he will be confused on which day to bring his case about us to the Heavenly Court , for it is Rosh HaShanah that we are to blow the Shofar . This is thus certainly a month of Love Between HaShem and His Creation , the Month in which HaShem Started His Creation , An Action Of Beautiful Giving Love From HaShem To us , Giving us a Beautiful Creation Out Of Pure Love and this is so sweetly shown in the very word Elul , of this Month Elul , where the letters of the word Elul , are also the first letters of the words of Shlomo Ha Melech's verse in Shir Ha Shirim 3 : 6 , ' Ani Ledodi Ve Dodi Li , ' - ' I am my Beloved's and my Beloved is mine , ' in reference to HaShem's Love For us and our reciprocal love for HaShem . Moshe starts out the Sedra with HaShem's Answer to life . He says , " Re'eh Anochi Notein Lifneichem Hayom Berachah U' K'lala , " - " See , I present before you today a Blessing and a Curse . " This is the choice From HaShem for us all . The Blessing that we hearken to HaShem's Commandments today , which is every day and the Curse and lack of Blessing , if we do not hearken to HaShem's Commandments and if we stray from HaShem's Path and Chas Ve Shalom follow other false idols and false deities and other beliefs that are not in the Torah . Moshe mentions how , When HaShem Brings us To The Land of Israel , we are to deliver ( announce ) the Blessing on Mount Gerizim and the Curse on Mount Eival , where half the Twelve Tribes stand on one mountain and the other half of the Twelve Tribes stand on the other , with the Levites between them in the valley . More details of this and what is to be said , is given in Parashas Ki Savo in Devarim Deuteronomy 27 later on in the Torah . HaShem Cautions us To be careful to perform all the Decrees and the Ordinances That HaShem Presents To us . HaShem Tells us That we are to utterly destroy all the altars in The Land of Israel where the nations worshiped their idols on the high mountains and on the hills , for the nations would often put their idol on a mountain or hill where it would be Physically higher . In fact out of all the mountains in the Sinai region , it was only on Har Sinai that no idol worshiping ever took place on , unlike the other mountains around It . This was obviously one of the reasons For HaShem Choosing this Mountain . Har Sinai was a humble Mountain , not as tall as some of the other mountains in the region and it's Spiritual Essence did not come arrogantly to HaShem , like the other mountain's Spiritual essences did , to try to be the mountain On Which HaShem Would Come Down Upon . In fact Har Sinai humbly chose to quietly remain in the background and so It Was Chosen By HaShem , For HaShem Wants Humility from His Creations . Torah Learning increases with one's humility . Torah Learning can only take place if one humbles oneself . HaShem Tells us that we are to break apart their ( the nations before us who resided in The Land ) altars , to smash their pillars and that their asherah trees shall be burnt in fire and their carved images are to be cut down and we are to obliterate their idol names from the Holy Land . Thus we are never to allow , into Israel , any other belief but HaShem And His Torah . All other foreign ways and beliefs are , According To HaShem , to be obliterated from the Holy Land . It must be a Land For HaShem Only And His Holy Torah Laws , So Speaks HaShem At the start of this very Parsha . From this time , As HaShem Commands , when we come into the Holy Land , we are no longer permitted to use private Altars , but we are only to come to the Main Altar in the Place Chosen By HaShem , Who Gives To His Kohanim the right of the Altar Service , only at that Place Of HaShem's Choosing , in reference to the Temple and Tabernacle , where only There , may Offerings be brought to the Kohanim and Altar and then we may eat that which is permitted from the basar after the Offerings , from what we bring , but Blood and the eating of blood is totally forbidden , as given also in Vayikra Leviticus 17:11 . It was the practice in those days , for some of the other nations to drink blood and also as a ritual for some of their idol worshiping ways , including the Egyptians , where we Jews spent many years in slavery . Such practices are totally forbidden . HaShem Commands us about Tithing and Offerings and how we are to Set aside Maaser Rishon and Maaser Sheni and Maaser Ani and the different Tithes . Maaser Sheni and the Sacred Food from it as this Maaser , is to be eaten only in Yerushalayim , which would bring a person to Jerusalem and they would gain in the Beautiful Essence of The Holiness of Yerushalayim and by being around and viewing the Holy Avodah of the Kohanim and the Temple Services , for this would , within them , help them to learn more and get deeper into Torah and Judaism , bringing them closer to HaShem . HaShem Warns us Through Moshe , that we are to safeguard and hearken to The Word That HaShem Commands us , that it be well with us and our children after us forever , when we do what is good and right In The Eyes Of HaShem our G-D . It must be In HaShem's View , not just in our view , for we really do not know on our own what is totally right , for we each have different moral standards And Only HaShem Is The True Judge And Only HaShem's Ways And Commandments Are The Only True Right Path . How true that is , for so often do we make our own ways and thoughts to do what we think is right in our own judgement of what is good and right , But HaShem Knows Best what Is Good And Right and so , we must abide by What Is Good And Right By HaShem And His Laws and not by our own thoughts and ways , or the ways of other people and their beliefs . It Is HaShem And HaShem Alone , To Whom , we must abide and listen . It is HaShem And HaShem Alone , Who we must follow , no matter how logical we may think or believe something of our own ideals may be . If it in any way contradicts What HaShem Says In His Laws That He Tells us Are Forever And That Will Never Change , then we are to disregard those others that try abrogate and cancel HaShem's Laws , Chas Ve Shalom and we must disregard those that Chas Ve Shalom say , HaShem May have made new ones , Chas Ve Shalom . HaShem Tells us Over And Over Again , How His Laws must be obeyed , How They Will Never Change And How They Are To Be Kept Forever . Our own logic is too minute and small and close-minded to be the truth , for we see so little of everything And Only HaShem Himself Knows All and what is necessary for Creation and thus must we put our own wishes and desires and logic aside , for we do not even see a speck of the whole picture of What Truly Is . HaShem Does And Sees all . It Is Only To HaShem And What HaShem Says Is Good And Right , that we are to abide by and follow . HaShem Tells us Clearly In His Torah That we are never to copy any of the ways of the other nations , not in their way of praying , not in their way of following their belief and not in the rites that they use to follow their beliefs . HaShem Forbids us to pray to anyone or anything else but Him , For HaShem Is The Only And Forever Only G-D And Savior ( Hosea 13 : 4 ) . Anything that has to do with a way in which the other nations serve their beliefs , we are not allowed to do . As HaShem Says in this Parsha , " You shall not do to HaShem , your G-D ( How these nations worshiped their gods or beliefs ) , for everything that is an abomination Of HaShem , That He Hates , have they done to their gods , " for HaShem Warns us , " lest you be attracted after them ( their ways and or beliefs ) and lest you seek out their gods , " thinking to do the same , as the nations do in their beliefs , such is an abomination to HaShem . Only HaShem The One And Only True G-D , are we to follow . Only to HaShem are we to pray and Only HaShem and no intermediary , are we to Listen to and pray to directly ( and never through any false intermediary ) , For HaShem Alone Is The Only Saviour , As HaShem Says in Numbers 23 : 19 and Hoseah 11 : 9 and Hoseah 13 : 4 and Isaiah 45 : 6 - 7 for as Isaiah Was Told in Isaiah 45 : 20 - 21 , there is no G-D but G-D and No Deliverer but G-D and the belief that the nations think will save them , HaShem here in Isaiah 45 : 20 states clearly that they pray to a deity that will not save them . Only HaShem Saves And It Is Only To HaShem that we must pray to and not through anyone or anything else and not through any intermediary as I just mentioned , For G-D Is G-D and not a man or a son of man As HaShem Clearly States In His Torah in Bamidbar Numbers 23 : 19 . How interesting that in Torah in this Parsha , just after this , HaShem Warns us of the False Prophet , who comes and makes miracles or signs or makes a prediction of something that something will come about and it does , yet claims a new belief or idea that is not As G-D Told us to do , or comes and tries to change in any way , shape or form , The Commandments Of The Torah Of HaShem , or in any way shape or form , tries to come and make out that any Law of the Torah of HaShem , has now changed or no longer exists Chas Ve Shalom , or tries to bring new concepts about more parts to G-D or as paganism used to do which came and made out any form of false human deification , or made out a false prophesy incorrectly mistakenly by mistranslating the Bible and by incorrectly making out a false prophesy that actually does not exist , by mistakenly misunderstanding the words of the Bible and falsely saying that such a thing and coming was prophesied when it never was and was mistranslated by these people , such things are against HaShem's Commandments , For HaShem Told us that they would never be and so are we to disregard such a belief or beliefs , so Says HaShem And So Says HaShem So Very Clearly In This Parasha Sedra . HaShem Warns us , not in any way , to hearken to the words of such an individual like I just mentioned as HaShem Mentioned In His Torah , no matter how many signs this individual gives or shows , For HaShem Tells us In This Very Parasha Sedra and later on in The Holy Torah ( Devarim Deuteronomy 13 and 18 ) That He Is Testing our faithful Love for Him Alone , So Hashem Says , In His Holy Torah . We are not to listen to this claimed false prophet . We are to serve Only HaShem And His Torah That HaShem Has Told us Many Times , Will Never Change And His Laws As He Gave Them , Are Forever Eternal . HaShem Calls such a false prophet who brings up any new idea or tries to use our Torah to prove his existence by changing the meaning of the original Hebrew Words , to make it appear as this false prophet says , HaShem Calls such an individual , a perversion against HaShem Our G-D , for such a false prophet , tries to get us to stray from the Path That HaShem Has Commanded us to stay on and so must we destroy this evil from our midst . When HaShem Came Down on Mount Sinai And Gave us His Holy Torah Commandments , this was witnessed by millions of our people , not to mention all the Jewish souls still to come , including the 600 000 of our people between a certain age . No other belief can claim such a revelation , for others only claim an observance possibly seen by one person or by a made-up select few . Torah Is The Truth And HaShem Is The Only G-D And Saviour And It Is Only His Laws That we are to follow And HaShem's Laws Are Eternal And Forever as it says so many times in The Holy Torah - Devarim Deuteronomy 29 : 28 ; 4 : 40 and 11 : 1 and 12 : 1 ; Bereishis Genesis 17 : 12 - 13 ; Shemos Exodus 12 : 14 , 17 ; 31 : 12 - 17 ; Vayikra Leviticus 3 : 17 ; 23 : 27 - 31 , 41 ; Bamidbar Numbers 15 : 38 and also 2 Kings 17 : 37 and 2 Kings 21 : 8 and Tehillim Psalms 111 : 7 - 10 and Joshua 1 : 7 - 9 . HaShem Even Warns us That we must take action against such a person , a false prophet , even if that person is a member of our own family and also if it is a whole city , a wayward city . We are to destroy the evil from our midst . HaShem Tells us that we Jews are a Treasured people unto HaShem . We are not to cut ourselves or make a bald spot as the nations used to do for the dead . We are not to eat any abomination And HaShem Tells us what is permitted and what is forbidden to be eaten . HaShem Names four animals that are forbidden , three of which bring up the cud but do not have a fully split hoof , being the camel , the hare and the hyrax , and the fourth is compared to Edom , being the pig , that has a split hoof as if to show it is ok , but inside is far from Kosher , for it does not bring up the cud . Scientists have for many years travelled the World to find other animals besides these four that have these specific traits , but were unable to , which surely shows The Truth Of HaShem And That HaShem Wrote The Torah , For Only HaShem , The Creator , Would Know All That He Created And Would Have Known That In All Of His Creation , There Exists Only these four like this , And Only HaShem Could Have Told us This Through Moshe , For Only HaShem Could Possibly Know This . HaShem Also Explains what water creatures Are Kosher , that have fins and scales and also what birds are Kosher . HaShem Also Talks of the Tithes . The very separateness of Kashrus , keeps us Jews Kosher . HaShem Then Teaches about the remission of loans and how we must help our fellow . Then HaShem Teaches of the Jewish bondsman or bondswoman and how after six years we are to lavishly set them free and treat them as we treat our fellow and as we would want to be treated . Our Rabbonim say that if we have a Jewish bondsman and we only have one cushion , we are to give him the only cushion we own , for him to sleep on . HaShem Then Talks of the Pilgrimage Festivals of Pesach , Shavuos and Succos and the Laws appertaining to them and ends the Parsha with how we must three times in the year , come and appear before HaShem our G-D , in the Place That HaShem Chooses , on these above mentioned Festivals Yomim Tovim and that we are to bring our offerings As HaShem Has Blessed us And Given us . A most beautiful procession was made to Yerushalayim in days of old , may it come again soon and may our Holy Temple Be Speedily Rebuild in our days . So ends The Holy Parsha . This Parsha of Re'eh , as I mentioned , Gives us a choice , From HaShem , where we can either do As HaShem Commands us To Do and be Blessed , or disobey , Chas Ve Shalom and be Cursed . HaShem Wants us to Live . HaShem Wants us to be close to Him . HaShem Created Creation As A Blessing Of Giving , For us . So HaShem Desperately Wants us To listen and Obey Him and so , Receive His Beautiful Blessings . The very act of disobeying Him and thus putting ourselves in the position not to receive His Blessings That He So Deeply Wants To Give us , is in itself a Curse that we bring upon ourselves , for not receiving His Blessing because of our bad actions , is like a Curse . HaShem Uses the word " Re'eh " - " See , " When HaShem Asks us to choose , for it is our own eyes that can desire the negative and thus cause us to be deprived of Brocha . So HaShem , In Mentioning the eyes that " Re'eh " - " See , " Is Giving us the answer to protect ourselves from the negative and protect ourselves from that which would pull us away from listening and that is that what we see , we want and what we want , we desire . So if we turn our sights away from what is forbidden and look to and do only What Is Commanded By HaShem Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu , HaShem The Holy One Blessed Be He , we Will Be Helped in Keeping HaShem's Commandments and so , Receive The Blessings That HaShem So Wants To Give us . But if we make light of and take very lightly , which in Hebrew is the word ' Kal ( like the word " K'lalah " - Curse " ) , we will bring down upon ourselves , the very result of the road we chose and deprive ourselves Of HaShem's Blessings , and this deprivation is like a Curse . Within the word " Re'eh " is the word ' Rah ' - ' Bad ' for if we look toward our own desires and disobey HaShem's Laws , we do ' bad . ' But if we Obey HaShem , And " Re'eh , " - " Look " toward HaShem And His Laws , Then HaShem Will Lead us , by our own choice , toward the ' Ohr ' - ' Light ' ( also within the letters of the word " Re'eh " ) and so we will have chosen The True Path Of Light to HaShem . The Free Choice Is There For us to choose . We must always " Re'eh " - " Look " toward HaShem and we must always " Re'eh " - " Look " toward HaShem's Commandments . Doing so , will Lead us to The End of Days , where we will go with Moshiach ( Gematrical value of 7 ), into the World to Come , and that stage after Moshiach , into the Spiritual , brings us into the level of 8 , which , is the Gematrical Value of the word " Re'eh . " ( 200 + 1 + 5 = 206 and 2 + 0 + 6 = 8 ) . HaShem So Desires To Bless us With His Blessings And He Only Punishes us For our own good . HaShem Wanted A World At The Beginning That Was Filled With His Brochas Blessings , So His Desire Is that we obey Him And That He Bless us . We have been given the choice so that we can have the opportunity to choose the Good and thus earn Rightfully and grow towards The Blessings That HaShem Holds In Store For us To Shower us With . The whole of Creation Is A Blessing From HaShem in all its Myriad Beauty . We " Re'eh " - " See " His Blessings In The Myriad Beauty He Created And Continues To Create . All we need to do is open up our eyes , the eyes being A Wonder Of HaShem , in itself , for with the eyes , we can see light-years into Space and just " Re'eh " - " Look ", at The Many Things Of Beauty That HaShem Created And Creates . So little Does HaShem Ask Of us And So Much Does HaShem Give us every day . So let us choose to follow HaShem , His Way , following HaShem's Very Holy Torah Commandments , Which Leads us to ' True and Everlasting Life ' - the True Form of Life , that is with HaShem And HaShem's Torah . Let us forever be grateful and thankful and appreciative to our Wonderful And Most Beautiful HaShem The One And Only True G-D And Creator Of Creation , Who Blesses us daily With So Much And What HaShem Asks For , To keep His Commandments , is One Of The The Greatest Blessings Of All , For HaShem's Commandments Are There To Help us , And To Bring us To HaShem In Love And Light And Peace , And So , Showers us With Even More Blessings Beyond our dreams and anything sweet and Holy that we could possibly imagine , In The World To Come , In Total Peace And HaShem's Tranquility , climbing ever higher and closer toward our Most Beautiful Blessing Of All , our Beloved HaShem Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu , HaShem , The Holy One Blessed Be He . I wish HaShem With Forever Everlasting Sweetest Love , A Most Beautiful And Sweet Shabbos Kodesh And Chodesh Tov Elul With Everlasting Forever Love and to all my fellow Jews and to all of Creation , a Most Beautiful and Sweet Shabbos Kodesh and Chodesh Tov Elul with love .

The Shabbos Parsha is Parashas Eikev and the Haftorah for Parashas Eikev is Yeshayahu Isaiah 49:14 - 51:3 and here , Isaiah speaks of how special to HaShem we Jews are as a People . In the Chapter of this Haftorah , we read the famous verse that we Jews are a " Light unto the Nations " and so must we Jews be , in every action that we do and with every interaction that we have with others , so must we be that very Light unto the Nations , to be as Witnesses to and to teach the World about the Oneness Of HaShem . The Beautiful Laws That HaShem Gives us Jews , even in this Sedra , are a most beautiful Testament to our Task for HaShem , to bring the physicalities in Creation to The Oneness Of G-D . This Parsha begins With HaShem , Through Moshe , Telling us about the " Eikev , " - the " Reward " for keeping HaShem's Laws . This should not be the only or even the first reason to keep The Laws Of HaShem even though HaShem's Laws Do Bring " Eikev " - " Reward . " When doing HaShem's Mitzvos , this physical World is not adequate enough to pay a " Reward " worthy enough for the value of doing a Mitzvah and so the true " Eikev " - " Reward " still awaits in Shamayim and at The End of Days . HaShem Does Assure us That there will still be Physical " Rewards " in this World for fulfilling the Mitzvos like those mentioned here at the beginning of this Sedra , such as the most Beautiful Reward Of Being Loved By HaShem and other Beautiful Rewards like Being Blessed and us Being Multiplied , Having the Fruit of the Womb being Blessed , that we will grow into a Blessed Mighty Nation , Holy and Good , Having the fruit of our Land Blessed , Our Grain , Wine and Oil ( our staple needs ) , the offspring of our Cattle , flocks of Sheep and Goats Blessed , On The Land That HaShem Gave To our Fore-Fathers . HaShem Assures As an " Eikev " - " Reward " that we will be the most Blessed of all the Peoples, that there will be no infertile male or female among us or our animals And That HaShem Will Remove From us , every illness and all the bad maladies of Egypt And HaShem Will Put them on our foes . We are not to worship their deities and we are not to follow pagan beliefs and idols , be they wood , stone or man . Only HaShem Who Is One Is The One And Only Creator And G-D HaShem Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu , HaShem The Holy One Blessed Be He . HaShem Assures us That He Will Be There For us and that we are not to fear the enemy , where Moshe here reminds us What HaShem Did For us In the land of Egypt , a place filled with impure negativity , a place That HaShem Would Not Have Come Down To Otherwise , due to its Tum'a , But Out Of Mercy And Love For His Jewish People , HaShem Came Down And Saved us . We Jews should be forever grateful to HaShem . HaShem Tells us How He Will Send the " Tzir'a , " - the " Hornet Swarm " Against our enemies and that is exactly What HaShem Did To the Canaanites when we were coming into Canaan , For HaShem Lined Up the Hornets like a Row of Soldiers and they spat their Poison right across the water of the River Jordan at the Hittites and also at the Hivite and Canaanite enemy's eyes , killing them . We are to then destroy their idols and carved images of their idols , which are to be burnt in fire and we are not to take their silver or gold , for they used it for idol worship and even the mere possession of it can by it's having been used by them for idolworship Tum'a , give off Tum'a itself , for it gains an intrinsic negativity that can ensnare and so , we are to remove these abominations from Israel . Moshe then tells us how the Manna was a Test for us of Faith in HaShem , as we had to have the Faith That HaShem Will , Every Day , Give us our daily need of food . Moshe Reminds us of How HaShem Is Bringing us To A Good Land flowing with Milk and Honey , Streams of Water and Underground Water , A Land of Abundance of many delicacies , especially the Seven Main Species for which Eretz Yisrael is Praised , the Wheat , Barley , Grape , Fig. , Pomegranate ( that has 613 seeds within like the 613 Mitzvos incumbent on a Jew ) , Oil Olives and Date Honey , a Land where we will eat bread without poverty , where nothing there will be lacking , whose stones are iron and mountains that contain copper for mining ( for strong building with iron and to earn for our daily living necessities ) . We will eat and be satisfied and Bless HaShem our G-D . It is the verse in Devarim 8 : 10 where our Rabbonim get the Mitzva to make a Brocha after eating and to eat and be satisfied ( where in days of old , the Brocha would be said on us eating our fill and today even if we have just eaten a kezaiyis ( the size of an olive ) we are to make a Brocha Acharona and for bread , the full Bensching Brocha . Our full Bensching was written paragraph by paragraph and added to , along the generations by Moshe , Yehoshuah , Dovid and his son Shlomo and the last part , by our sages at Yavneh , after the Jews in Betar , who were slain after Bar Kochba and their bodies lay for many years , where the Romans did not allow them to be buried , but just left them there and finally Antoninus came and allowed them to be buried and so , the Sages wrote their Praise to HaShem in the fourth part of the Bensching . HaShem Then Warns us Through Moshe not to get complacent when we are in Israel and given such abundance , that we are not to forget That All Things And Blessings Come From HaShem . This is one of the Aveirahs that happened at the time of Noach , where HaShem Gave in Abundance to the World in its first thousand years ( allied To HaShem's First Day of Creation , Where HaShem Flooded Creation with His Light And Love ) and the people of Noach took this for granted and prayed to fake idols and physical stars ( a star simply being a sun like our own sun but far far away ) . We are warned to remember that all things Come From HaShem Only . HaShem Warns us That if we become complacent and forget HaShem and go after idols Chas Ve Shalom and worship them and prostrate ourselves to them Chas Ve Shalom , we will perish , like the nations That HaShem Caused To Perish , before us . We are to listen and hearken to HaShem our G-D . Moshe then reminds us of the sad happening of the Chait Ha Eigel , the Golden Calf and how Moshe shattered the Tablets at the foot of the Mountain before the people were given It , for it was like a marriage contract between HaShem and us and rather than us receiving it and being judged more harshly by a contract that we would have received , Moshe broke the Tablets so that we would not be judged being held by it's written agreement . Moshe reminds us of places where we so wrongly tested HaShem and also how Moshe supplicated himself for us for forty days and forty nights . Moshe reminds us of how he hewed the second set of Tablets And How HaShem Wrote On Them what was on the First Set . Then Moshe refers to Aharon's passing and refers also to the appointment of the Levites . In Devarim 10 : 12 - 13 , HaShem Writes In His Torah , " Now , O Israel , what does HaShem your G-D , ask of you ? Only to fear HaShem , your G-D , to go in His Ways and to Love Him , and to serve HaShem your G-D , with all your heart and with all your soul , to observe the Commandments of HaShem and His Decrees , which I Command you today , for your benefit . " . In Dovid Ha Melech's time there was a plague where 100 died every day . So King David and the Sages of the time referred back to this verse 12 which has 99 Hebrew letters in it and also the word " Mah " - " What " ( for " What does HaShem Ask of us " ) which is like the word 'Meiah , ' ( with the addition of a letter ' Alef ' to bring it up to 100 words in the verse ) , where the Hebrew word ' Meiah ' means ' One Hundred ' ( the Hebrew word Meiah ) , so they instituted the Law that goes along with this verse of " What does HaShem Ask of us , " and that is also , for us to say One Hundred Blessings Brochas per day and when the sages did this , the plague stopped in King David's time . Also according to Aish Ha Torah , the Hebrew Letter ' Kuf ' in the word " Tzaddik " - " Righteous Person " has the Gematrical value of One Hundred . So We Jews need to say One Hundred Brochas per day . Even though after King David's time , this fact of saying One Hundred Brochas a day was stopped , the Sages later on reintroduced it and so we say our Hundred Brochas to HaShem Only every day , spread out in our Davening Three times a day and also in our Blessings of various foodstuffs and other things throughout the day that we Bless and in our Bensching and Blessing after the meals . It is HaShem Only that we are to Fear and Love Only as The One And Only G-D And Savior ( also in Hosea 13 : 4 ) and Follow Only G-D And His Laws And Torah And Tanach . G-D Is The One And Only Creator Of Creation , G-D Alone Made , Makes And Will Make all things . G-D Is One . The Sedra then features the second passage of the Shema Prayer , where here , It is partly in the plural , for we are a whole nation and we are to come together and stand together as one , in following HaShem's Every Word . It features the Reward for keeping HaShem's Commandments and what will happen if we do not listen to HaShem . HaShem Ends the Parsha , Reminding us that if we keep HaShem's Commandments and Love HaShem and Walk In HaShem's Ways and Cleave to HaShem , Then HaShem Will Be With us And Drive Out all these nations from before us , nations greater and mightier than us And HaShem Will Give us every place there where our foot will tread , from the Wilderness and the Lebanon , from the river , the Euphrates River , until the Western Sea , shall be our boundary And HaShem Will Give it To us And That no man will stand up against us , For HaShem Our G-D Will Set Terror And Fear of us on the entire face of the Earth where we will tread , As HaShem Spoke to us . So ends the Parsha . Though we will Receive " Eikev " - Reward " for keeping HaShem's Commandments , this should not be our reason for doing Them . We should do HaShem's Commandments because we love HaShem and Trust Him . A person who goes through life doing things only for themselves , is a person who ends up losing themselves . We are not in Creation just for ourselves . We are in Creation for HaShem and other people and for the rest of Creation . Ramban and Onkelos puts the word " Eikev " as coming full circle which means completing things and coming back again to the same point . If we just do HaShem's Commandments just to complete Them and not put any real meaning or intention into doing Them and how we do Them , then we will have just done them by habit and will not have gained anything . And so , we will have just come full circle back to where we started and will thus not have gained much or anything at all in growing toward HaShem . If we remember where else we saw this word " Eikev , " in The Torah , it was at the birth of Yaakov who was holding onto the heel of Eisav . We know that it was Yaakov who was to have been born first and thus to have been the first-born , but Eisav pushed him aside and so Yaakov came out holding onto Eisav's heel , at the bottom . Only later in life was Yaakov renamed Yisrael , after he had grown Spiritually and become much more holy then the already very holy person he was . So " Eikev " - " Heel " showed at the time how Yaakov was in a position where he had to climb higher Spiritually and reach his own very much higher level of Holiness as we all need to do . This " Eikev " - " Heel " is the " Foundation " of learning that we all have to go through . Thus if we do the Laws and Commandments only for " Eikev " - " Reward , " we are putting ourselves at the " Eikev " - " Heel " of our own Level and we are to climb much more and much higher . But if we do the Commandments for selfless reasons for the purposes of Loving HaShem and having full Faith , Emunah and Trust Bitachon in HaShem and not just do Them for ourselves , then we can truly grow leaps and bounds in Holiness and will really start to fulfill our desired reason for being here . If we follow HaShem's Commandments for HaShem and not for the Physical " Eikev " - Physical " Reward " we get , then we will have accomplished some of HaShem's Beautiful Reasons for Creation and His Ten Pronouncements In Creating Creation And For His Selfless Giving Of The Ten Commandments , To Bring us Up To Him . We can see this in the very word " Eikev " which is Gematrically 70 + 100 + 2 = 172 and 1 + 7 + 2 = 10 , the number of Creation , the number of Pronouncements That HaShem Made In Creating Creation and the number of Pronouncements Of Commandments In The Ten Commandments . The number 10 is also the number of Completion which in Hebrew is ' Shaleim , ' which also has a Gematriah that comes down to 10 ( 370 which is 3 + 7 + 0 = 10 ) , which is like the word ' Shalom ' - ' Peace ' which is what will reign at the Completed End of Days , Taking us into the End of Days and so if we do HaShem's Commandments , for HaShem and not for Physical Reward , we will finally realize What HaShem Has Wanted us to learn all along , that we are all to make ourselves Emulate HaShem and thus become One ( 10 is 1 + 0 = 1 ) With HaShem HaKadosh Baruch Hu and we can then bring on the End of Days . May it come soon in our days . And at the End of Days , we will finally all realize That HaShem Did Not Do Creation For Himself , But Out Of Total Giving And Selflessness , And Total Beautiful Pure Love From HaShem , Only For us . In fact This Sedra shows that directly , for if we put the first word of this Sedra with the last word of this Sedra , we get " Ve Hayah Lachem " - " This Shall Be For you . " Which Is Why HaShem Created Creation So Selflessly , Only For us . Thank You HaShem For Doing All Of This For us . May we all learn to change this World into a selfless World and do all things for You and follow All Of Your Commandments As You Ask Of us to do for our benefit . May we all work together to bring on the End of Days where we all , all of Creation , follow Only You HaShem The One And Only True G-D , Keeping Your Holy True Torah . All of Creation is A Masterful Show Of Love From You Hashem The Creator . May we all Show You The Appreciation that we have so long deprived You of . It is only to You that we must Pray To , Follow and Adhere To . It is Only Your Laws that we must Obey . It is Only You HaShem that we must Follow Always and Forever more and also always be in total love and appreciation for Your Selfless Creation That You HaShem Have So Lovingly Made For us And Given us . HaShem , You Gave For us Jews to be a Light Unto The Nations , not to be better than anyone else , but to bring all , to The Oneness of G-D . May we Jews , all of us together , be as You Want us To Be and never follow the negativities and beliefs of others , which is totally contrary to You And Your Want Of us And Commandments To us . May we be , as a Whole People , the ones who lead others away from such negativities and wrong beliefs and be As HaShem Wants us To Be , That Holy Light unto the Nations , leading all to Your Oneness And Holy Light , The Holiest And Truest Light And Oneness , HaShem Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu , HaShem The Holy One Blessed Be He . I wish Most Beloved HaShem With Forever And Eternal Love , A Most Beautiful And Sweet Shabbos Kodesh With Forever And Eternal Love and to all of my fellow Jews and to all of Creation , a Most Beautiful and Sweet Shabbos Kodesh with love .

The Shabbos Parsha is Parashas Va'eschanan Shabbos Nachamu . This Shabbos is Shabbat Nachamu , the Shabbos that comes after Tisha B'Av and so this Shabbos gets it's name from the Haftorah which we read on this Shabbos which is Parashas Va'eschanan , where the Haftorah is Yeshayahu Isaiah 40 : 1 - 26 and we read this as the Haftorah after Tisha B ' Av because it's first few words are " Nachamu Nachamu , " - " Comfort , Comfort My People , " for after such a tragic day of Tisha B 'Av and the three weeks of Mourning between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B ' Av , we Jews are then Comforted By HaShem , WHere HaShem Lets us know That He Is Still With us and we look forward to HaShem Comforting us also with Bringing On The End Of Days . In this Parsha of " Va'eschanan , " Moshe continues speaking to the whole nation of the Children of Israel . This Parsha starts out with the word " Va'eschanan " - " Implored , " where Moshe tells the Children of Israel how he " Va'eschanan " - " Implored " and begged HaShem To Cancel The Decree , Where HaShem Decreed That Moshe would not enter the Land and cross over the Jordan and Moshe Implored HaShem To Let Moshe into the Land . Moshe thought that seeing as HaShem Had Allowed the two and a half Tribes to take their inheritance on the other side of the Jordan And That HaShem Had Allowed Moshe to be a part of the defeating of Og and Sichon and their nations , who were a step toward entering into the Land , Moshe hoped That HaShem Might Change His Mind And Cancel His Decree And Allow Moshe To enter into the Land , But HaShem Did Not . Moshe " Va'eschanan " - " Implored " HaShem many times , but still the decree stood . In fact Moshe " Va'eschanan " - Implored " HaShem 515 times to enter the Land . We get this also from the Gematriah of the word " Va'eschanan " which comes to 515 . Our Kabbalah teaches us that every day , the Malachim Angels Supplicate themselves to HaShem 515 times a day . Only HaShem Truly Knows why this decree could not be cancelled . But Whatever HaShem Does , is for the Good . Even Though HaShem Said " No , " Moshe still continued to ask . This teaches us that no matter how much we may feel that there is no hope , there always is hope and we must carry on praying . Even when a person is set to be executed and the executioner's sword is above the one to be executed's neck , he should still pray for hope , as even till the last moment , reprieve can come . In the case of Moshe , this was a decree that could not be annulled . Our Rabbis surmise at a few possible reasons . One opinion is that had Moshe gone into Canaan , the Temple would straight away have been built and seeing as it would have been Moshe's holy built Temple , It could never have been destroyed . This would have meant the total end of our people had we sinned , For HaShem Rather Chose To Destroy His House - The Temple , Rather than destroy us , His people , when we had sinned . Had Moshe built the Temple , it would have been an Eternal Temple and could not have been destroyed and we , as a people , would have had to face that result , Chas Ve Shalom . Also , Moshe had reached the final level and gate of Physical Holiness , For HaShem Did Say to him ( mentioned later in Torah ) that " It is too much for you , " in other words dear Moshe , you as Moshe , have now done enough and all that was expected of you and it is time to rest Spiritually and continue to grow further in Spiritual Holiness in another way . There can be other reasons too , that Moshe was the leader of that generation and Yehoshuah also deserved his time in his generation , to continue on and also gain Kavod . We are told , that at the End of Days , Moshe will rise and lead those that never got into the land , he will lead them ( his generation ) into Israel , at the End of Days . But there can also be a much deeper reason . Every Prayer that Moshe Made , was not for himself , besides his " Imploring " HaShem To Let him into the Land . And even that , was not really a prayer for himself , for he wanted to continue teaching the people and bringing them closer to HaShem . He feared that if he would no longer be present , the people would stray and so he wanted to continue to watch over them and be there for them . He also wanted to have the opportunity to do those Mitzvot that could only be done in the Land of Israel . No wonder HaShem Told him that " It is enough . " The very fact That HaShem Gave these Mitzvos through Moshe , was ( as one reason among others ) so that he too would get the Kavod for them as if he had done them himself in the Land . So the deeper reason for him " Va'eschanan , " - " Imploring " HaShem so many times , to the point of such a vast amount of times 515 times , not only showed Moshe's great love for HaShem and HaShem's People and HaShem's Land , but also , that there was a very deep reason why he prayed this many times - 515 times . Moshe was known to constantly pray for his people . He feared that if he was not there , who would pray for us on our behalf . So within this amount of 515 times , Moshe actually covered us till the time of the End of Days ( as is explained in Aish Dass ) . Moshe passed away in the year 2488 from Creation . The true final date till the End of Days is to be exactly in the year 6093 . If you take 6093 and subtract the 2488 , that leaves us with an amount of 3605 years that Moshe will not be present . If you divide this number 3605 by the amount of Sabbatical Shemittah Years ( Midrash Devarim - Rabbi M Weissman ) , it comes to 515 . So Moshe prayed for us and in his " Va'eschanan " - " Imploring " HaShem , he covered us for the full time till Moshiach comes . His prayers are still watching over us . He was a most holy man of total selflessness . No wonder HaShem Had Moshe ascend the Mountain and put a Blessing on the Land in all directions , for Moshe was covering us and the Land , with his holy prayers . Moshe continues , in this Sedra , to tell us Of HaShem's Laws . Moshe tells of our meeting HaShem At Har Sinai And Of How HaShem Gave us The Two Tablets of Stone With HaShem's Holy Ten Declarations On Them . Moshe warns first of all about Avodah Zorah Idol Worship and to stay away from it and of how the other nations will try to get us to follow their false deities , be they wood or stone or even man . We are to follow HaShem Only and take no note of any nation that entices us to follow anything else that is Not G-D , be it wood or stone , or sun or moon , or man or stars . We are to pray to HaShem Directly with no intermediaries . Moshe again reminds the people How HaShem Was Angry With him And Did Not Let him into the Land . How sad , that till this day , we still didn't pray for Moshe to be forgiven and be able to enter the Land . So many times did Moshe pray for us . May we , even today , remember Moshe and pray that The End of Days comes and that Moshe can finally arise and enter into Israel . So many times did Moshe pray to HaShem to forgive us , even offering for himself to be blotted out , so as to put us first . We owe Moshe so much . We should all pray to HaShem on Moshe's behalf . Moshe then warns that the time will come when the people will make idols . HaShem Will then Scatter us Among the nations in Galus Exile . Moshe reminds us to be faithful to HaShem and return to Him . Moshe , with love for HaShem , reminds us how HaShem , unlike for the other nations , Came And Saved us And Performed Great Miracles For us , out of His Love , Taking us out of the bondage of Egypt , Letting us hear His Voice , In The Midst Of The Fire . How HaShem Is The ONLY G-D In Heaven Above And On The Earth Below and that there is NO OTHER . Moshe mentions the Cities of Refuge , where an unintentional murderer can flee to and then Moshe mentions the defeating of Sichon and Og . Moshe then repeats The Ten Commandments . Moshe's Mentioning of the Ten Commandments , is basically the same as the previous mention of it in Shemos , but here , with regards to the Sabbath , Moshe mentions the word " Shamor " - " Safeguard ," but in the Mention in Shemos , the word there is to " Zachor , " - " Remember , " where these two Commandments of Shabbos remind us to " Guard - Safeguard " the Shabbos and Keep It's Laws of the 39 Melachos and to " Remember " It , as doing Kiddush on It and Remembering That HaShem Took us out of Egypt , Bringing Miracles When He Saved us , Like the Acts of Creation , where the Observance of Shabbos shows That HaShem Created Shabbos and Thus Created the six Days leading to Shabbos . We are told That When HaShem On Har Sinai , Gave The Commandment Of Shabbos , HaShem Said Both the words " Zachor " and " Shamor , " at the very same instant ( Something Only HaShem Could Do ) and so we Remember and Safeguard HaShem's Holy Shabbos . Moshe reminds us how we were unable to hear HaShem's Almightiness and how we asked Moshe to relate to us the rest of the Ten Commandments . Moshe Tells us to keep HaShem's Commandments and so will our days be lengthened on the Land That HaShem Gives us . HaShem , in this Sedra , Then Gives us the Beautiful Blessed Words of the first verse of the Shema , " Shema Yisrael , HaShem Elokeinu , HaShem Echad , " - " Hear O Israel , HaShem Is our G-D , HaShem Is One . " When we Daven the Shema in the morning and evening , as told by the very words in the Shema ( to Daven the Shema when we lie down referring to evening - Maariv and when we arise , at Shacharis referring to the Morning , we are at all times to remember HaShem Taking us out of Egypt . When we Daven the Shema , we say silently after the first verse , " Baruch Shem Kevod Malchuto Le'olam Va'ed , " - " Blessed Be His Name Whose Kingdom Is Forever And Ever , " for this goes back to Yaakov , when he was on his bed with his children all around him and he feared that his sons may not be holy enough and they answered him ' Hear O Israel ( Yaakov ) , HaShem Is Our G-D , HaShem Is One , " and when Yaakov heard their words that they in truth , acknowledge the Truth that HaShem Is our G-D And That HaShem Is One ( that there is no other ) , Yaakov was filled with happiness in that he now knew for sure that his sons were holy and followed HaShem Only and so Yaakov answered , " Baruch Shem Kevod Malchuto Le'Olam Va'ed , " - " Blessed Be His Name , Whose Kingdom Is Forever And Ever . " Seeing as this second line does not appear here in this Sedra , when we say it in response to the first line of The Shema , that second line that was said by Yaakov , we say silently to ourselves . Our Rabbis also tell us that when Moshe was up on the Mountain , he heard the Malachim say this second line in praising HaShem and so , taught it to us . We note that in A Sefer Torah in this first line of the Shema , the letters ' Ayin ' and ' Dalet ' are highlighted and made bigger . The Reason That HaShem Did This , is because if we put the ' Ayin ' and ' Dalet ' together , we get the Hebrew word ' Eid ' which means ' Witness , ' for we as the Jewish people , in all that we follow for HaShem , are to be a Witness for HaShem , to the World , That HaShem Is One and The One And Only G-D And Creator . For any Jew to say or teach otherwise , that person is taking away from his or her Jewishness . Also , the letters also spell ' Dai ' which means ' enough ' for Only HaShem Is and for us humans to go toward HaShem , His Torah is ' Enough ' and all that is needed , for there will never be another book or Torah ever , For HaShem's Torah Is ' Enough ' And Eternal . We are to love HaShem with all our heart and soul and resources and that means that if we are to acknowledge HaShem , even to our death , then we are called upon to do so . This was the case with so many of our martyrs . As we know , with Rabbi Akiva , he , among others of our sages at the time was called upon to do a Kiddush HaShem and give His Life for HaShem and while they were combing his flesh with iron combs , he was reciting the Shema . His students were amazed at how he could do this , considering the pain he was suffering at the hands of our enemy the Edomite Romans and he answered that he was now being given the opportunity to fulfill the first words of the Shema , by loving HaShem with his heart and soul and his resources , as his soul was leaving . The Shema reminds us to continue the eternal tradition of Torah , to teach it to our children at all times , starting their Torah learning with the sweetness of the words of Torah and Honey . The Shema reminds us of the Holy Tefillin worn by Jewish males and the Mezuzot on our doors , that remind us that all is HaShem's and that our actions and thoughts ( our arm and hand and head on which the Tefillin are put ) , must succumb to HaShem . The same is with the Mezuzos on our doorposts , on the doors of our house , that remind us that all is HaShem's And That HaShem Guides our every step wherever we are and that all our actions are to be According To HaShem Always . Our Gemorrah tells of the story of Onkelos , who was a Roman Convert to Strict Torah Judaism . He was a most holy man . So holy , that his writings appear even today on the side in smaller writing , in every Hebrew Book of the Torah . He had an amazing ability to convert people he interacted with , to the True Path Of HaShem . He was actually the son of a roman leader . Each time his Father would send someone to try to talk him out of his Jewishness , they would leave the presence of Onkelos , as and having become , a believer in HaShem . So his Father decided to again send him men , but warned them not to talk to him and let him engage them in conversation , in case he persuades them . When they arrived at his home , he invited them in and he started to talk to them about HaShem . They stopped him and told him that they were forbidden to discuss any of these kind of matters with him and that he was to come with them to his Father . On the way out , he told them that he would not get into a big discussion with them , but would just mention one thing . He pointed at the Mezuzah on his door , on the way out and asked them if they knew what it was . They did not know and he told them that with their false beliefs , they have to appoint guards to watch over their fake idol deities and homes , but in Judaism , G-D Himself Humbly Stands Watch Over us and the Jewish Home . They all converted to Judaism . How beautiful is our Holy Torah . How beautiful is our Holy Tefillin , Tzitzis and Mezuzos . How beautiful is Holy Judaism . How Beautiful Is The One And Only G-D And Creator HaShem Ha Kadosh Barush Hu , HaShem , The Holy One Blessed Be He . Moshe then reminds us How HaShem Is Going To Give us a Land prepared with all its Beauty , ready for us to enjoy . We are to Fear HaShem And follow Him Only . We are to Love HaShem with all our Heart , Soul and Resources and that also means that we are to give up our own wishes and do What HaShem Wants and not what we want . HaShem Brought us out of Egyptian slavery and we are to serve Only HaShem . We are not to follow the beliefs and false deities of others , the false beliefs and false deities of those around us . We are not to test HaShem , as we did at Massah , but we are to observe HaShem's Decrees , Ordinances , Testimonies And Laws and Commandments Only . We are to teach our children to do the same and teach them How HaShem Took us Out of Egypt And Did Signs And Wonders For us And Brought us out of bondage To a Land flowing with Milk and Honey . We are , in every generation , to continue keeping HaShem's Laws and never to stop keeping them and never to think the laws have changed , because they will not change , For The Laws Of HaShem Are Forever and we are to keep them always , just as we did then , for Torah Says here , " Le Tov Lanu Kol Ha Yamim Le Chayoteinu Ke Ha Yom Ha Zeh , " - " for our good , All The Days , to give us Life , As This Very Day . " HaShem Then Warns us Through Moshe , that when we enter the Land of Israel , we are to smite the seven nations of Canaan , the Hittites , Girgashites , Amorites , Canaanites , Perizzites , Hivvites and Jebusites , utterly destroying them , not sealing a covenant with them , nor showing them favor . Not intermarrying with them , Not giving our sons or daughters in marriage to them , for they will cause us to go astray and worship other things , Chas Ve Shalom . We are only to worship G-D and nothing else . We are to break apart their altars , pillars and their asheirahs ( false deity trees ) , their carved images are to be burnt in fire . HaShem Reminds us that we are a holy people unto Him , chosen as a treasured people above all other people on the face of the Earth , because of HaShem's Love For us . We are to observe HaShem's Commandments And HaShem Will Bless us , Safeguarding the Covenant for a thousand generations , for those who observe HaShem's Commandments . For all time , HaShem Instructs us through Moshe that we are to " Observe the Commandments and the decrees and the ordinances That HaShem Commanded " then . So ends the Parsha . So many times did Moshe " Va'eschanan , " - " Implore . " We may wonder at this and ask why HaShem Did Not change His Decree . We can certainly understand how Moshe must have felt . He led us through the Wilderness so many years , taking all our moans and groans and complaints . Not easy . He put himself totally out for HaShem and his people , not expecting anything back at all . His only request really for himself and as I explained earlier on , that it was not even totally for himself because he still wished to serve his people , was to enter the Land . So was HaShem Merciful , in saying " No . " HaShem Never Does Anything For Himself . What does He Get out of Giving us a Most Beautiful Creation around us to enjoy and not destroy , For HaShem Creates , As A Kindness . When we keep destroying the Beauty That HaShem Gives us , HaShem Only Gets Sadness . HaShem Created all things and Gave it To us to enjoy . So all That HaShem Does , Is Not For Himself . All That HaShem Does , He Does out of Mercy , For HaShem Creates In Order To Give . We may not always see the Mercy in every Action That HaShem Does , but we certainly do not see all the terrors that people do . We certainly do not see the whole picture of why things happen that may not seem logical to our very limited intelligence . But we do know That HaShem Is Not Getting out of us , a wonderful picnic . Look around today at how some people are behaving and at how we treat our fellow Creation . Look how many people do not even acknowledge HaShem As The Creator Whom HaShem Is , but rather wrongly look to other things to pray to that are not real and are nothing else but part of the Creation Created By HaShem , That HaShem Who Is The One And Only G-D , Created . Only G-D Is G-D . Look at the cruelty done to our fellow man , at the cruelty and abuse that women and children have gone through . Look at the cruelty that is perpetrated on innocent animals and all life . No . This Is Not How HaShem Wants us to behave . We live in a World today that has so many examples of selfish and self caring people and so one has to fairly realize , How Patient And Merciful HaShem Has Actually Been With us all , Through the ages of time . So we do see That HaShem Is Merciful In All That HaShem Does . So much is hidden and is so deep . If we wonder About HaShem's Decision About Moshe if that was a merciful decision , we will eventually understand when the time comes at the End of Days , That HaShem Was Most Merciful . If we wonder if Moshe's " Va'eschanan , " - " Imploring " was An Act Of Mercy On HaShem's Part , all we need to do is to look deeper at the word itself , for within the word " Va'eschanan " - " Imploring " are the words ' Chein , Nachamu and Chanan , ' which refers to ' Mercy , Comfort and Grace . ' Thus on a deeper level , HaShem's Decision , Was Merciful , Comforting and Graceful . We do not see the whole picture on anything . Only HaShem Does And Only HaShem Knows All . There is so much we do not understand and see . HaShem Is Always Merciful . We are not . In all that HaShem Does , not just for us , but for all of Creation , HaShem Is Most Merciful , Comforting and Graceful . Even within listening to Moshe's " Va'eschanan , " - " Imploring . " We just need to look deeper . In fact with everything , we need to look deeper , not just into things around us , but also within ourselves as well . We may be surprised what beautiful things HaShem Might Show us . It starts with Trust and Faith , Emunah and Bitachon in The Creator Of Creation , Who Knows All . HaShem Desires us to be at one With Him And HaShem So Desires our closeness . HaShem Gave us Creation . From then on , it starts with us . It has always started with us , after Creation . It has always been up to us , depending on what we do and how we act . If we follow HaShem Wholeheartedly , The Way HaShem Commands Eternally , then Creation will be Complete and we will finally understand so many things and be within the Beautiful Light Of HaShem's Closeness And Love . HaShem Has Always Been Merciful To us . May we be the same and be just as merciful and giving As HaShem Has Always Been . May we all follow G-D As G-D Asks us To follow Him In His Torah and then our " Va'eschanan " - " Imploring " will turn into " Nachamu , " the Final Comfort That HaShem Has So Longed To Show Us And Give us Since The Beginning Of Creation . Thank You HaShem , with so much love . I wish HaShem With Eternal And Forever Deepest And Sweetest Love , A Very Beautiful And Special Shabbos Kodesh With Forever Love and to all of my fellow Jews and to all of Creation , a Very Beautiful and Special Shabbos Kodesh with love .

It was on the night of the 9th of Av that the spies in the Wilderness brought back a negative report on the Land and caused us to wander for 40 years in the Wilderness , for they caused the people to cry and mourn in their tents for no reason and so , HaShem Ordained that on that day , the 9th of Av , Tisha B'Av , we would have reason to mourn through the centuries and so , today we Fast on Tisha B'Av . So many calamities happened to our people through history on and around this day : - Both our Holy Temples were destroyed with the conflagration carrying on into the next day . The City of Betar was destroyed by the Romans . Jerusalem was attacked . It was on this date that the Jews had to leave Spain after centuries of living there when 529 years ago , by royal edict the expulsion of Jews took place under Queen Isabella and Duke Ferdinand . It was on this date that Boghdan Chmielnitsky and his Ukrainian Cossacks ran through the Ukraine and Poland killing thousands of Jews and raping and pillaging . It was on this date that the Final Solution was signed for the destruction of Jews in the Holocaust by Nazi Germany. It was on this date that the crusaders went through Europe and England decimating many Jewish villages and burning our holy scrolls and killing many of our people . It was on this date that Russian Cossacks attacked many villages of Jews in Russia. It was on this date that so many other things happened to us through history. May our people finally learn that it is only HaShem that w must follow and only HaShem's Torah Laws that we must obey . Wishing all my fellow Jews a Meaningful Fast. May HaShem Come Soon In Our Days .

Our Parsha this Shabbos is Parashas Devarim which begins the Fifth and last Book of The Holy Torah . This Parsha falls on the Shabbos before Tisha B ' Av and so , the Haftorah is also a Lament for us , the third Haftorah of Lament between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B' Av . The Haftorah is in Yeshayahu Isaiah 1 : 1 - 27 . This Parsha of Devarim Carries through the centuries from Moshe Rabbeinu who spoke this Book of the Torah to all our Jewish people , a most beautiful show of Moshe's love for HaShem and for his Jewish people with a plea of love that we keep all of HaShem's Commandments , so this Book of The Holy Torah is so vital to us as a people , especially with the coming of Tisha B'Av , where all our people need to remember HaShem's Love For us and how we need to keep HaShem's Commandments and always trust That HaShem Knows Best and that we are to always stay close to HaShem And His Commandments . The whole Book of Devarim - Deuteronomy was spoken by Moshe to the Children of Israel in the last 37 days of his life , starting on the 1st of Shevat and Moshe ended just before he passed away on the 7th of Adar . So the whole Book of Devarim was Moshe's parting message From HaShem , reiterating HaShem's Laws , Given at the time we were for a year at Har Sinai and also those Laws Given By HaShem To Moshe , in The Holy Tent of Meeting . In this Parsha , Moshe starts out with a rebuke to us which he means totally out of love for HaShem and for us , knowing he ( Moshe ) would not be with us when we would enter the Land , Moshe wanted his last words at that time to us , From HaShem , to remain with us , when he would depart . We read a few Parshas ago , how Bilaam , spoke only the words HaShem Let him speak , And HaShem Put In Bilaam's mouth , praises for our people , out of the mouth of Bilaam our enemy , yet out of the holy mouth of Moshe who loved us , HaShem Put the start of Moshe's Speech , as a rebuke . Why was this so , for our beloved Moshe to rebuke us quietly and for Bilaam to praise us ? For our enemy to end up praising us , is A Total Miracle From HaShem and even for Bilaam our worst enemy to praise us , that sets the stage for lesser enemies to have to acknowledge us . In the case of a rebuke , had it come from Bilaam , it would not have been well - meaning and could have harmed us negatively , but from Moshe who always meant us well in love , it would be just like a Parent rebuking their child out of love for their welfare to get that child on the True and Proper Path in order for that child to better themselves . HaShem Starts Out The Parsha , By Saying That the words of Moshe was to " El Kol Yisrael , " - " To all of Israel , " for all of Israel was to come out and listen to Moshe Speaking , Men , Women and Children . Children were also mentioned , for it is in our children that the future rests . HaShem Miraculously Increased the Volume of Moshe's Voice so that it would carry and be heard throughout the Camp and all who listened could understand it the same as the one next to them , in the same way , even though each person had their own levels of understanding different things . This was just like at the Giving of the Ten Commandments on Har Sinai Where HaShem Spoke The Commandments to each person in their own way of understanding it , so that each person would end up with the same understanding that every other person would have . I refer to When HaShem First Started Speaking the Commandments in a single space of time all at once all the Ten Commandments ( something only HaShem Could Do ) And Then HaShem Directly Spoke the First Two Commandments Directly To the people and the people expired and had to be revived and thereafter begged Moshe to relate the rest of the Commandments to them lest they expire again . HaShem Had done this So As To Ensure That The Fear Of Him , remains with us so that we can be In Awe of Him and follow Him for our own benefit in Creation . So here , when Moshe Spoke in Devarim , relating HaShem's Words , HaShem Again Performed The Miracle Of us all understanding The Words , with the same understanding as everyone else , even though we all had different levels of comprehension . The first word of the Parsha , is " Eileh , " - " These . " If we take the Gematriah of the word " Eileh , " it comes to 1 + 30 + 5 = 36 and if we take this number 36 and re-translate into Hebrew Gematriah letter placings in the order of the Hebrew Alphabet , we get a ' 30 and a 6 ' and the Hebrew Letters that have the values of 30 and 6 are the Hebrew letters ' Lamed - L ' and ' Vav - V ' and putting this together , we get the Hebrew word ' Leiv ' - ' which means ' Heart , ' thus " Eileh " - " These " words that Moshe spoke to all of Israel , were words spoken to the people's ' hearts , to keep forever within our hearts . ' When we speak to a person's heart and not just to their mouth , the message is more penetrating and shows more that we are truly concerned for the other person's heart and welfare and speak out of total caring for them . This Was The Love Of HaShem and this was the love of Moshe . Moshe speaks to them " on the other side of the Jordan , " for Moshe was not permitted then to enter into the Land . Our Rabbonim teach us that in Moshiach's time , Moshe will return to lead that generation that passed away during our journey from Mitzrayim to Canaan , into Eretz Yisroel , so that generation , will finally get to come home into Israel . But this Parsha talks of Moshe speaking to them from " the other side of the Jordan , concerning the Wilderness , " which means still in the Wilderness , so why would Moshe be referred to as speaking to them " Bamidbar , " - " Concerning the Wilderness ? " The Wilderness , beside that it was where they physically were , has a deeper meaning and that is also that to be holy and religious and follow HaShem Wholeheartedly , one is to make oneself like a Wilderness , which is open and empty and ownerless , suggesting total openness and selflessness and humility in listening to HaShem and putting one's own wants aside , being like an empty vessel with no selfish thoughts and being totally accepting in Trust and Faith Of What HaShem Wants And Tells us To Do , being forever humble and following HaShem's Will Only , always knowing that we know so little and that we humbly have so much to learn , no matter how much we study . Torah was given in a Wilderness that is ownerless to also show That All HaShem's Creation has a task and duty to follow HaShem and that as a Wilderness is ownerless And Owned Only By HaShem . So is Torah Owned By HaShem and we are all obligated to Follow and keep It . Also within the word " Bamidbar , " is the word " ' Devor' im , " which refers to Speaking , for when we Humble ourselves to and before HaShem and Listen to Him as we would do in a Wilderness , we can truly hear HaShem Speaking To us when we make ourselves humble and open to receive , just like a " Bamidbar , " - a " Wilderness . ' Dovid Ha Melech knew that he could come close to HaShem by spending time alone , sometimes for days or even weeks by himself , just by going into a desert alone ( which is like a Bamidbar - Wilderness ) . The Parsha Also Says , that Moshe spoke " Ba' Aravah , " - " In the Aravah , " though some of our Rabbis refer these names to places there , other Rabbonim go deeper , where ' Ervah ' can refer to a ' responsibility ' ( Zilberman Hebrew Dictionary ) , for it was in this place's vicinity that some of our people did not hold to the responsibility of believing in HaShem , for it was near here that the spies went into the Land and very sadly ( at this time of Tisha B' Av ) , brought back a false report of the Land which caused an uproar and brought us Tisha B' Av , for it was then that the spies caused the people to cry in their tents for nothing due to lack of faith and trust in HaShem and lack of appreciation For All That HaShem Had Done For us and so , from then on , through the generations at this time of the year , we have suffered and cried for a reason , for it was at this time that we lost both our Beis Ha Mikdashim , our Holy Temples , it was at this time that we suffered through the centuries , with pogroms in Russia , Bogdan Chmielnitzky and his Massacres in the Ukraine and throughout Poland , the Final Solution , by the germans , Crusades across Europe and England , mass murders of our people throughout Europe , the fall of Betar in Roman times , the Spanish Inquisition under queen isabella and duke ferdinand and their grand inquisitor thomas de torquemada and their horrific tortures and quemaderas burnings at the stake and our being put into ghettos in Venezzia and Italy and their burning of our holy books and so many other very sad happenings to our people at this time . May we all learn to have faith in HaShem , Trust in Him and may we all learn to follow HaShem's Torah Faithfully and so , turn this day of heartache and tragedy , into a time of rejoicing happiness , with the coming Redemption in Moshiach's time . Going back to the word " Erev , " this word ' Erev ' also refers to ' Evening , ' a time of darkening before the light , where in this vicinity , the people sadly doubted HaShem and then had to return back to the Wilderness for many years ( like the ' dark ' ) and only after many years ( almost 40 years ) , could they only then enter Eretz Yisrael ( the Light ) . That too is just like this present period of darkness and Galut , just before the Light of HaShem Comes in Moshiach's time . The words , " Opposite the Sea of Reeds , " Was Where HaShem Split the waters , but the word written is " Suf " not " Yam Suf , " for the word ' Sof ' also means ' end , ' for the people had finally reached the end of their journey through the Wilderness and were about to finally enter into Eretz Yisroel . Torah then mentions " Bein Paran U ' Vein Tofel , " for it was in the vicinity of this area of Paran , where the Spies left from , when they went to go and spy out the Land , before they came back and we had to wander till the end of 40 years , also a reminder of this period of the year which became Tisha B'Av , May HaShem Come Soon In our days . Within the word " Paran , " is the word ' Pur ' - which refers to ' casting lots , ' like in the happening of Purim , for it was the wicked Haman who cast lots and it was in Paran , when the spies also caused a debate among the people ( like casting lots to decide either way ) whether they should enter the land or fear what the spies came and told them from tent to tent . Could this be why later in time , at the happening of Purim , we had to suffer anguish , at the ' Pur ' - ' Lot ' that Haman cast every day till the date of Purim in Adar . The word " Tophel " is mentioned as is " Lavan , " where Rashi explains that the word ' Tiflus , ' means ' calumny , ' which means ' false and malicious defamation ' ( Everyday dictionary - Patterson ) , which is what happened by the Spies there in that region and the reference to " Lavan - " - which means ' white , ' can be a reference to the Mannah and perhaps how some were ungrateful for This Holy Food From HaShem , That HaShem In His Love Every Morning , Would Let The Mannah Fall For us , With Such Care And Love , That HaShem Would Prepare For us , With His Love On Top Of A Blanket Tray Of Dew . The mention of " Hazeroth " is also a deep reference to rebellion , for it was in and near Hazeroth that Korach's rebellion took place and it was also there that Miriam was stricken with Leprosy for Loshon Horah . The reference to " Di - zahav , " which means ' a mass and abundance of gold , ' can also be a reference to the Chait Ha Eigel - The Golden Calf , so within Moshe's words , was a rebuke , but meant for positive and holy reasons . Torah here also mentions that this place is also eleven days from Chorev , which is the place of Har Sinai , where the place before the Ten Commandments were given there , was called ' Sin'a ' which means ' thornbushes , ' for the place was usually quite dry there and had many thornbushes and as we know , it was there That HaShem Appeared To Moshe Within the thornbush , again a symbol of humility and that no matter how much suffering our people face , HaShem Will Always Be Within us And Help us . The place ' Sin'a ' had a Hebrew Letter ' Yud ' added to the name , after the Ten Commandments were Given there , to make it " Sinai " for the Hebrew Letter ' Yud ' is 10 Gematrically and so , the name of the place became " Sinai , " Where HaShem Gave His Ten Commandments On Har Sinai , the most humble of Mountains , that stayed spiritually in the background feeling itself unworthy Of HaShem Coming Down On it , when ( as Dovid Ha Melech said in Tehillim - Psalms ) the other mountains came skipping like rams to be the ones chosen , but Humble Har Sinai Was Chosen Instead . The mention of Kadesh Barnea is a reference to the Spies sent off from the area and also the area where Moshe and Aharon were judged not to be able to go into the Land , at the Waters of Strife . So Moshe even humbly brings up his own error and thus is humbly rebuking himself too . How beautiful and humble and Holy was our beloved Moshe . Everything in Torah has deeper meanings and as our Sages say , each word and connotation has 70 deeper meanings . The Parsha of Devarim , as I mentioned , starts out Moshe's Speech to the whole of the Children of Israel . As HaShem Says , in verse 3 of this Sedra's first chapter , all that Moshe Spoke , Was According To The Word of HaShem . Moshe refers to our dwelling at and around Har Sinai and how after the year of being there , HaShem Tells us to leave . Moshe then refers to the appointment of Judges and then Moshe refers to the incident of the Spies and the sad result of our rebellion , which we still suffer today , which took place on Tisha B' Av , which is to sadly come up Motzei Shabbos , if the Redemption hasn't happened yet . Moshe then refers to the incident of what happened to him with regards to water from the rock and how he and Aharon were not permitted to enter the Land . Moshe also refers to those who , after the incident of the Spies , still wanted to enter the Land and were told ' No , ' but did not listen and were smitten . Moshe then Speaks of us coming toward Canaan and what happened with us when we wanted to enter the areas of Eisav , Moav and Ammon . Moshe Speaks of the conquest of Sichon and Og ( who had an iron bed , to the measurements of that man , who had even lived in Avraham's time and further back in the time of Noach through the Mabul , where Noach had made for him outside a special little platform for him to stand on and little roof covering to cover him , where Noach had fed him every day ) , his bed being of iron , as nothing less could hold his heavy large tall weight and frame ) and how the two and a half Tribes of Israel , Reuvein , Gad and half the Tribe of Manasseh , would take their territory on the other side of the Jordan . The Parsha ends with Moshe talking of the command to Yehoshuah Joshua for what to do When HaShem Has him lead us over the Jordan And How HaShem Will Be With us And Wage War For us , Against our enemies and the nations of Canaan , when we enter into the Land . So ends the Parsha . The very fact that the Parsha is called " Devarim " - " Words " shows That These Are The Words Of HaShem . Within the word " Devarim " is the word " Daber " - " which means " Speak , " for within this Book of The Holy Torah and within every single word within The Holy Torah , HaShem Is Reaching Out To us And " Speaking " To us . Just as HaShem Is Pleading With us Today , to follow Him . HaShem Wishes every year and every day that we would all change and follow His Laws and so , avert the coming Tisha B'Av and so , bring on The Final Redemption . HaShem Says Very Clearly Here , In This Parsha That HaShem Speaks To Moshe and the Sedra Says Clearly That These Words Are Spoken " to all Israel , " which does not just mean for then , but for all time , today and beyond . HaShem Was Thus Speaking to the Jews then and , with the reference to that this is spoken to " all Israel , " this also means to every Jew - all Israel - all Jews , past , present and into the future , HaShem Is Still Speaking These Words To them . HaShem's Words Are Eternal , And Penetrate Through Time And Space and nothing can stop Them and so , HaShem's Words Carry Through The centuries . Not only that , But HaShem Is Still Speaking To us today , tomorrow and in days still to come forever . The word " Devorim " in this Sedra , is written as " HaDevarim , " For It Is HaShem Who Speaks These Words To All Israel . If we would only stop our physical pursuits of no long lasting value and sit in peace , we would hear HaShem's Melody Of Words Singing Sweet And Beautiful Words of Love Within us . HaShem Speaks To us All The Time . Sometimes when we are learning a Mishna , or a Gemarrah or one of the Taryag Mitzvos or a verse in Torah or Tanach and we stop and wonder about understanding something we have just read and we suddenly from within our soul , get an explanation , like a flash of Light Of Illumination , we can know that That Flash Of Light Of Illumination , Answering us , Is HaShem " Devarim " - " Speaking " To us And Giving us Clarity on that something that we wondered about . HaShem May Have Given That Answer To us At The Moment when we asked or May Have Even Given us The Answer , right at the beginning of Creation , Or Maybe Given us The Answer At The Time we received The Ten Commandments On Har Sinai , For HaShem Knew that we would at a later time in Creation , ask that very question or wonder about that very thing . How Wonderful Is HaShem . HaShem Has Been With us All Along , And Has Carried us And Stood By us , Throughout Time , not just at the beginning of Creation , But HaShem In His Love Carries us From day To day And From generation To generation , Never Leaving us , But " Devarim " - " Speaking His Words To us Every Day And Giving us Those Words of Holy Torah And Comfort , Exactly When we need It And Exactly When we need to grow and climb higher in Holiness . HaShem Is Within Every Breath we take and Within Every Ray of Sunlight And Within Every Song of Creation that is all around us . All that we need to do , is to listen and step away from the physical mundane things around us and focus on What Is True Long - Lasting Value And That Is HaShem And HaShem's Torah True , HaShem's Pathway To Shamayim - Heaven , HaShem's Waiting Love That Surrounds us Always , wherever we are and wherever we go . So let us Truly open ourselves up to HaShem's Love and Listen with Love to HaShem's Beautiful " Devarim " - " Words And Speaking " Love . I wish HaShem With Beautiful And Forever Deepest Love , A Sweet And Peaceful Shabbos Kodesh With Endless Love And Endless Closeness and to all my fellow Jews and to all of Creation , a Sweet and Peaceful Shabbos Kodesh with love and to my fellow Jews , should Tisha B'Av Still Come , a Meaningful Fast . May all my fellow Jews and all of Creation , return to HaShem's Commandments Of Torah with love . Blessed Holy Sabbath with love .
